For me a Belgian player, it's not easy to just move to for example Ipoker. In Belgium we have like 5 legal pokersites, rest is illegal. So I have no choice but to play on pokerstars.
Imagine the gouvernement pulls their stupid idea through of taxing profits for Belgium players like 75%.... Tx PS, tx Amaya for giving me back my life....

Now I see that it was inevitable...
Look at .it/.fr/.es , they have higher rake but peoples continue to play... What Amaya is doing is simply increase their profit because they know people will continue to play...
And yes, we know that, we'll continue to play on PS

The money made by stars is ultimately rake*number of games played. Stars should realize that a lot of the games running atm are reg vs reg, and by increasing rake regs have less - or no - incentive to sit each other, so I expect stars to profit less. I've heard some people mentioned a strike. The important point here is that it should decrease the number of games running as much as possible, because stars doesn't care whether it will be regs or recs paying the rake. Action is dependent on:

1) How long it takes for an empty lobby to get occupied;
2) How long it takes for that person in the lobby to get sat;
3) Whether there will be rematches or not.

You can't influence 1) by staying away as regs (this might not be the case for the higher stakes, I am not sure here). If the regs are around 2) will take a lot longer. Regs can decide not to rematch (3) if they are truly dedicated. Most importantly, during the strike, regs should not be sitting each other for a while, which is not too big of a sacrifice. I fear that staying away as regs might make the incentive too big for someone to break the strike, and action could explode. There might be a lot of rec vs rec action, or regs of other formats might be predators.

It's quite funny you guys now get all **** paraded on you and now you are upset with stars. There was a ton of you idiots who laughed at us when they announced Spins and it killed SNGs. Now they increase rake on top of that and hurt you cash players so you all come hopping on our train of dislike.

The funny thing is you all are bitching when you have most of the leverage. Move to a site that has a few things you want, i.e. RB, peer to peer transfer, etc. if a majority move the games, the action, and the recs should follow. Sure for a bit you will take a little hit but if you organize yourselves and work together towards one goal you should be able to change the new site and they likely will abide.

I used to love PS and recommended many people to try poker here. They made a great software with a wide selection of games with reasonable/beatable rake. I loved the cashout policy where I got the mid rates. Pokerstars even refunded me few times for disconnections. Support has always been fast and helpful. I felt I was treated well as a player there, felt very safe and always kept large amount of money on the site. All those little things contributed to a great overall impression.

This has been changing since PS was bought by Amaya. I no longer feel like they care. What made PS special and different from other sites is gone. Now they only abuse their monopoly status. I'm gonna keep only the necessary roll on PS and gonna plan on leaving PS sooner than I thought. Its been fun.

All of the changes are very shortsighted and are gonna make you higher profit only short term. In few years, when overall traffic declines drastically, you can blame it on lower interest of recreational players or you can look back and see how badly you messed up yourself with all the changes.

Just because people will play doesn't mean their profit will increase. It's like raising the price of anything, there comes a point where your increase lowers sales so much that you're making less from your product. People will continue to play on Stars, sure, but a lot of people will switch, especially over the next few years, and I suspect these changes won't be beneficial in the long run.

The main reason for that, is that the approach is so damn bad. As soon as the site changes hands they immediately start ****ing with a proven product, because some excel sheet suggests it knows better. It's like a guy planning to play poker writing out how much he could make if he only won at xbb/100 over x amount of hands every month. The plan on that piece of paper is always some far fetched dream, that gets **** on in reality because it fails to understand how things work in the real world.

Stars has lost their credibility.

Fixed limit games are not directly affected, right? Well, we are already raked heavily enough, but there are some winning players. Probably they just overlooked that direction.

Wish there was a new poker site ran by competent people, but the truth is that it is probably impossible to a number of reasons. So killing PS equals to killing online poker as an opportunity for great self-employment for those people who value personal freedom. Makes me sad.

Ipoker is going to be the next best thing with there great RB and soon bigger play pool !
