does anyone know if they cut a lot of hands? blinds seem to go up too quickly. I know many ppl find this boring but i like to watch it for the plays and contrast in styles so would like to know if its worth watching and it would be if not too many hands are cut out

If that Wasicka was really the more aggressive Wasicka than typical, then I just can't fathom how he could've won the HU championship. Being weak-tight coupled with making transparent bluffs is about the most lucrative combination you look for in your HU opponent. Jesus was getting better cards, but it doesn't even start to explain the lopsided nature of the match.

Yep. I was beyond surprised by how bad he played the match. m_reed noted some of the ridiculous pre-flop choices he made, and he played just as badly post. I was really embarrassed for him. I was also dumbfounded by the comments about how he was showing his more aggressive side early on (if so, wow), and about how he thought he was playing better towards the end of the match (definitely wrong). This puts the TT that he lost the WSOP title with in better perspective, as well; I always wondered what he was doing throughout the hand, since the stacks left no room to do anything involving folding.

However, the real flaw here was the format. 60-ish BBs to start? Are you ****ing kidding me? How boring is that? I think with stacks that short, Jesus has a pretty big edge over the other 3.

Looking forward to tonight...last night was a bit rough. Jesus steamrolled over him. I'm guessing that tonight's whole hour will be on the Ted/Phil match. Then tomorrow night we'll get 2 matches...one on Thursday, last match on Friday.

Didn't they start with 300-600 blinds and 50 k stacks? So more like 85 BBs.

But whatever... Wasicka openfolding K6 in 2nd blind level seems funny and I am not anything near finished with the episode.

This is correct about the blinds. The finals, however, will be 100,000 in starting chips with blinds starting at 400/800, so 125 big blinds.

Good in principle for Wasicka to play a more aggressive style than he is known for. Tough though to execute a new style effectively against an opponent of the caliber of Jesus. A combination of cards and bad timing seemed to undo him, coupled with Jesus seemingly reading him with ease. By the A3 hand he seemed out of it. Still if his last all-in hand had held up who knows. Jesus though clearly in a different league.

Overall...I think Wasicka is a great and underrated player. I will say though, this wasn't his best. He raised almost any two cards before the flop and completely refused to bet anything after the flop no matter what came out. I thought it was very out of character.

Did you all watch the same show as me? It wasn't as if Ferguson was flopping sets, straights, and full houses. Hell I can't even remember him hitting as much as two pair the entire show.

He didn't get hit by the deck at all; he made good folds, good calls, and great plays. His two raises with straight draws vs. Paul's bottom pairs won him the match.

I know he's boring as ****, and such a gimmick with the costume, but he's so underrated around here it's ridiculous. I think he's easily the strongest player in the field.

Question, is Ted Forrest signed with Full Tilt Poker or not?

Almost as funny was hearing him talk about how Jesus was learning to slowplay big hands . . . you know, like Jesus' checkraise all-in with the overs and gutshot.

Uh oh, I don't like the sound of this.

This may be the first time I've read this much agreement in any thread of 2+2 in the two years I've been lurking/posting. No banter plus weak-tight play? I KNEW I should have saved my 2-3 a.m. recording slot for High Stakes Poker reruns, dammit!

skipped through most of the thread so i'll just say the only reason I watch PAD is to hear the players chatting without commentary. I like hearing about old gambling stories and crazy bets but as soon as I turned my PVR on and saw Jesus and Wasicka I knew it was going to be a snoozefest.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I liked the show last night. I thought the weaker player just got outclassed, and I'm a Wasicka fan. They showed a lot of actual poker too. I like watching poker.
Maybe it was just the new format mixed with all the whisky I had in me, but I was sucked in quickly. I didn't even finish watching nets vs vets until after I watched the whole first episode of this. Ferguson vs Helmuth should be the final round. Ferguson is going to kill him, he is really on.

Did anybody else laugh uncontrollably at the preview for tonight's episode? In case you missed it, it's basically Forest telling Hellmuth to speed up the pace of the game, and Hellmuth responds with something to to the effect of, "It's unfair for you to say that on the very first hand." Hellmuth has got to realize how funny stuff like this is and that's why he does it.
