A lot of people seem to think this hand was "sick" for some reason, when its seems to me that its totally standard. There were 4 spades on the board and some farm girl is making big leads into Phil Ivey on the first (second?) hand of the match. Also, IIRC the K/Q/T was on the board meaning that the 3rd nuts was actually the 9s, which you would not think she would be likely to overplay to that extent.

I mean, wtf is Ivey supposed to do there, raise? That seems incredibly stupid, what on earth could she have there if not the As? There is very little to be gained by raising anyway unless she is a REALLY bad player and he'll get put all-in often when she has what she's plainly telling you she has there. Her play says, "I have the As, do you believe me?"

Calling is the only play that makes any sense. Now, if he would have folded that river then I would understand all the "OMG sick" comments. As played it was pretty standard.

Durrr puts in about $19,000 to win the $4,600 that is in the pot. This is like rookie players at the micro-stakes levels shoving with any pair regardless of the chip stacks or blind levels. If anybody besides an online hero does this he would get ripped to shreds by the same people who are calling this play "standard."

Maybe I'm crazy but I tend to believe that poker is all about picking your spots. If you guys think that TT in the third hand of a tournament against a tight pre flop player who was limp-re-raised you is a good spot to risk your tournament life, I wish all of you the best of luck in your poker careers. You are going to need a large dose of it.

I'm a huge PH fan, but the only thing that would have topped the way Durr handled the post-game stuff would have been if he's just looked at PH as he was ranting and said something along the lines of "Yeah I know Phil, I should have gone broke on that hand but you forgot one thing....I can dodge bullets baby"
