A lot of people seem to think this hand was "sick" for some reason, when its seems to me that its totally standard. There were 4 spades on the board and some farm girl is making big leads into Phil Ivey on the first (second?) hand of the match. Also, IIRC the K/Q/T was on the board meaning that the 3rd nuts was actually the 9s, which you would not think she would be likely to overplay to that extent.

I mean, wtf is Ivey supposed to do there, raise? That seems incredibly stupid, what on earth could she have there if not the As? There is very little to be gained by raising anyway unless she is a REALLY bad player and he'll get put all-in often when she has what she's plainly telling you she has there. Her play says, "I have the As, do you believe me?"

Calling is the only play that makes any sense. Now, if he would have folded that river then I would understand all the "OMG sick" comments. As played it was pretty standard.

New topic of discussion: I feel like the girl actually played pretty damn good overall. Agree/disagree? (She certainly didn't **** herself over having to play Ivey like Cheadle did)

What's the opposite of "fanboi"?? PLO8Face seems as fervent to bash Dwan as others are to defend him!

i don't bash durrrr. The only negative thing i've ever said about him is that the all in with 1010 was horrible. And it was.

the nut-huggers are the ones i like to bash. Pathetic losers with no lives who juggle his balls in their mouthes on a daily basis.

Yup! i posted the same thing in this thread... i was pretty damn impressed with her play.... the lead with the nutflush was nice too, though i think the riverbet could have been bigger.... ivey wouldve called pot imo

other then that the 1700 river bluff was EXCELLENT

and to PLO8face, have you ever played a HU SnG?

Durrr puts in about $19,000 to win the $4,600 that is in the pot. This is like rookie players at the micro-stakes levels shoving with any pair regardless of the chip stacks or blind levels. If anybody besides an online hero does this he would get ripped to shreds by the same people who are calling this play "standard."

Maybe I'm crazy but I tend to believe that poker is all about picking your spots. If you guys think that TT in the third hand of a tournament against a tight pre flop player who was limp-re-raised you is a good spot to risk your tournament life, I wish all of you the best of luck in your poker careers. You are going to need a large dose of it.

amen well said.

other posters might agree, but they are too busy licking durrrr's ass and picking up his groceries.

Seriously, Hellmuth is probably folding everything but AA & KK here! Dwan could 4bet all-in with 22, show it (were it allowed, LDO), and Hellmuth would probably still fold AK. Phil's not gonna take a chance at gambooling away his time in the spotlight. Before the match he even made some lame-ass comment about how he wants to win this championship to "prove himself to America". He's not taking a coinflip here, like ever.
Hellmuth's style is based on ICM and it doesn't matter if he figured it out mathematically or simply does it intuitively. It is the reason he wins tourneys and sucks in cash games. He should never accept the HU challenge.

This site only sneaks through via typo (forumersver.twoplustwo.com is blocked)...

Sharkscope & all that is blocked though; is there a way to get player results through google alone?

This is way to simple for the Durrr lovers to understand, can you throw in some words like "standard, -ev, pf equity, range" so they get it

If Hellmuth did it, everyone would be saying it was horrible.

they'd also be fondling Durrrr's nuts and saying how he did a great job giving off "weak" tells.

We will all see in 5 years, since that seems to be the agreed amount of time to establish oneself among professionals...Until then, Durr is a donkey on fire, waiting to be extinguished by the rivers to come...Phil is the Eagle - Durr is the Lion

I'm a huge PH fan, but the only thing that would have topped the way Durr handled the post-game stuff would have been if he's just looked at PH as he was ranting and said something along the lines of "Yeah I know Phil, I should have gone broke on that hand but you forgot one thing....I can dodge bullets baby"

Now that would have led to some great TV I am sure
