It's the binary thinking that I think is really stupid. Someone is either regular or an elitist. Good versus evil. Lol Bush voters.
Who said I like Dennis Phillips?

Norwegian Andreas Hoivold has accepted an offer from Eric Drache to participate on the show.

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=s&n=51816

blogpost(in norwegian): http://www.donkr.com/blogs/viewBlog.asp?b=6798

Short translate: Went to out to dinner with Thor Hansen and Eric Drache during the WSOP this summer and Drache invited me to play in HSP, I accepted. Starts filming in November.
Can't wait, but got some mixed feelings. Not everyday I sit with 200k at the table, but you gotta take some chances in life

Another scared money tourney player, huh. :/

I wish freekobe or someone would finally confirm that the nosebleed cash game gods whom everyone wants to see are playing.

The only noteworthy hand I remember involving Andreas Hoivold on TV was in the Poker Million a couple of years ago when he attempted to do something spewy along the lines of 5-bet bluffing his entire stack with 7-2 against...

...wait for it...

...

... Howard Lederer.

Lederer had AA obviously.

roflmfao at either of those possibilites.

Not sure exactly who you want confirmation about -- keep in mind that until the game actually starts on a given day, it's never 100% that someone will or won't play.

I think it would be good if HSP would be a year round program so that we can see many different players, whether it be pros like PA, Ivey, or Durrrr, or TV pros like Dennis Philips, Chris Moneymaker, and Jerry Yang. It will make for good TV poker and will show the disparity between these types of players.

It seems to me that most people want to know whether Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Sammy Farha, Phil Ivey or Ilari Sahamies will appear and in how many lineups. I personally would like to know about the aforementioned players + Sami Kelopuro, David Benyamine, Eli Elezra, Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, David Peat, Gus Hansen, any online high stakes reg and any rich amateur.

Høivold is probably not allowed to say. In his blog, he jokingly writes

Quote:
Later in the evening [yesterday], [Thor Hansen] forwarded a text message [from Eric Drache] with the names of my opponents. It was a pretty sick list. I'll assume nobody's really interested in the particular names, so I won't include it in this blog.
A few interesting tidbits that he does disclose:

* It's basically 100% certain that he will play. The money ($200k) has already been wired to the Golden Nugget.

* He was out drinking with a friend, mouthing off about wanting to play on HSP. Called Thor Hansen while still drunk, Hansen set it up with Drache. Had a bout of cold feet the next day, but didn't want to call it off to embarass himself and Hansen.

* Met with Drache during the WSOP, was given the option by him to play either HSP or PAD, went for HSP since "it's the best TV poker show".

* Playing November 11th. Travels to Vegas a week earlier, to have time to get rid of jet lag.

* Has never played higher stakes in a cash-game previously than 50/100/200 euro.

I have a feeling this is not going to end well for Høivold... I've been reading his blog, and he seems to play almost exclusively tournament poker. He doesn't seem to think and analyze his hands the way the best cash game players do either, by a wide margin -- he's certainly no Dwan or Galfond.

Most likely he will just nit it up, however. He's obviously going to be scared money: never played close to the same stakes, and only brings a single buy-in. Doesn't sound likely to end up being good for TV. *sigh*

***BREAKING NEWS***

Mat Damon has agreed to play too... In the past he didn't want to go since he would get crushed... but with this year's lineup, he feels like he can crush the game. Anyone wants to stack me ? I would buy in for 100K... and I'm ready to put down 100$. So I'm missing 99.9K$... I crush NL2 on PS with a winning rate of 0.7BB/100... So I feel like I would DESTROY HSP Season 6.

So who wants to invest good money ?

...

I wanna see Phillips get ripped apart if he is invited. This guy plays a tournament style that is far away from any profitable cash game style. Seriously, Dennis is a player that makes friends with people in tournaments, and shares information to be "friendly", he wouldn't last more than a few hands without check/folding everything.
Uhhh...is it possible you think he only plays a tournament style because...ohhh I don't know...you've only seen him play tournaments? How do you know what kind of cash game player he is?

Guys like Michael Mizrachi and Antonio Esfandiari have both admitted they play a much tighter style in cash games than they do in tournaments. While I'm certainly not putting Philips in the same category as those guys, but perhaps he has a similar mentality?

Showing the disparity between these players is a bad thing.

Moneymaker and Yang wom't play HSP, they have some amount of breainpower I think.

It's hard getting all these guys together to do a show.
