Top 10% math and probably anything requiring formal education
Top 10% some random video game

Everyone in the H&F forum for example is top 10% in strength I'd guess.

Maybe top 1% or .1% is more interesting. Because then you're approach a potentially elite level of something. For instance, being top 10% of active chess players or tennis players or whatever.
I've found that your world ranking in a thing is usually inversely proportionate to how much you enjoy that thing and directly proportionate to how important that thing is to the rest of the world (assuming you are actually good at it.)

For example, if you think you are OK at raising money for charity, but you really enjoy playing WoW and think you are world class... you are probably one of the best in the world at raising money for charity and there at least 9 kids on your block better than you at WoW.

One of my colleagues is either the very best in the world at a particular type of surgery or among the handful of the best in the world and that really isn't up for dispute. He's much more concerned about how good a poker player he is, however, and fancies himself to be quite good even though he would be the fish at any home game i've been to in the last 10 years.

Was looking into more detail at the tennis and found that in the Netherlands there are 1.4M people playing tennis. Few years back I was ranked 112 in doubles and 385 in singles, but there were a lot better players not playing ranked tourneys, so lets say I was among the best 1k players, then it would still easily be top 1%.
Did not expect that actually.

I'd be pretty good in a drinking-golfing-poker tri-competition.

Although, I might have to add in a lack-of-appreciation-of-the-finer-points-of-hockey/curling component to get an edge on Sippin

Deurdy, bring a racket to the 2020 STTF Vegas Reunion Party Meetup Extravaganza. It's ONNNN!

Gramps - impressive as usual. But do you think you can take me in a guitarsolo-strip poker-arabicasa2ndlanguage challenge? They say im top o' the world in that triathelition.

I'll be 42 in 2020, gg to my tennis skills by then..

BTW, anyone in Vegas between June 30th and July 8th this year?
Just booked my vacation with my gf and 3 mates. We first go 10 nights to Orlando/Kissimmee and then to Vegas. My 3 mates will stay another week after that for the ME.

Also, Zoooom poker is awesome, but I'm clueless why there is no 50nl.
Not rolled for 100nl and just moved up to 50nl, meh.

I'm flying to direct to Singapore today from Hyderabad on Silk airlines (which doesn't show up on expedia type searches and is the only direct flight fwiw). Any suggestions on must do things there in Singapore. I'm staying with my uncle btw. Then I'm on to splitting a house with a poker player for a month in Phuket. I assume the best things to do are just go to the beach and drink beer while being able to play poker online legally?
Golkonda fort in Hyderabad is great btw. It has this resonant clapping system that still don't know how it works (or if it is bs) where you can clap at a certain resonant point at the base and like 1000+ ft away you can hear the clapping at the top of the fort. When I was 14 it tripped me out.

See if he'll trade poker lessons for rotator cuff surgery

Don't think "legal" is the right term fwiw, not that it likely matters. Haven't been to Singapore, but of the people I've talked to, the food court-places (whatever they're called) are supposed to be pretty legit.

You could summon Josem by standing in front of a mirror and saying
"PokerStarsMichaelJ, PokerStarsMichaelJ, PokerstarsMichaelJ"

only if you dare of course.

I tried that but just got a form email about how my query was being investigated

If jessica from murder she wrote was my aunt and she told me she was coming to visit me I'd tell her NO, why don't you go and visit uncle peter (who I've never liked much) instead...

Sadly I think Irie summed me up with poker and golf, sigh.

Nice one mikety, I actually used to watch that show with my mom sometimes lol.

MadSci - watch No Reservations or the Layover on Singapore. Should give you some good food/drink/entertainment ideas. Also don't graffitti any cars unless you want to get caned. And no drugs.

Youd think that the FBI would have been called to Cabot Cove after a while. Being that a town of a few thousand people was having multiple murders per month.

50NL Zoom is now there. Ask and ye shall receive.

Also, fwiw, the same strategy works with Daliman. He might not be able to provide such miracles on demand, however.

Are zoom tournaments planned?

Zoom poker is such a bad name lol, rush poker is x1000000 better. Should just steal the name imo
03-22-2012 , 02:28 PM
Irie - so what are you relatively good at in your mind but hate?

And how does it work for someone who is world class at everything? *coughDaliMancough&johnnybeefcough*

Is stealing from thieves stealing?

Saying "no" to a stripper. I'd have to handicap my skills at the world-class level, and can even refuse a lap dance and still get digits... but I hate it so badly that I just simply refuse to do it anymore.

I'm probably going to test if my skills at that have improved this weekend in vegas. It'd be hard for them to have worsened.
