^ This is just wrong. They do a quick strep test at the doctor that they get results from in a few minutes.

^ this is correct. Strep is easy to detect and really ****ing serious.

Gazillion - is the pressure in your ears when you fly? I had an awful ear problem every time I would fly. My ear nose & throat specialist put tubes in my ears. Ever since then, I have felt no pressure at all in my ears when I fly. I went to see him this morning and the tube in my right ear fell out, & the hole healed over. I'm flying to Vegas in two days. Fingers crossed that I'm not in horrible pain again.

I was just trying (unsuccessfully) to say that sippin won't be able to walk into a clinic, see a doctor, and get antibiotics based on the doctor thinking it "looks streppy." That's not gonna happen, imo. Of course, the doctor will perform a strep test if they suspect strep and drugs will be prescribed if the test is positive. Test takes 24-hours, iirc. With flu season in full-effect here in the southwest, there are lots of viruses around. If it's viral (or unknown), the general approach is to let it run its course.

Hope that's not true. No update on website. HEM replayer is so slow. The developer of replayer was trying to pass off the code. Maybe it's just a problem with the transition.

A rapid strep test takes like 10 minutes.

Never heard of that. Why they always make me wait a day. F***ers!

Everything you wanted to know about strep... including 15-minute quick test.

Just got me a refurbished Toshiba laptop with a 17" screen for $400 inc. tax and shipping: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?poid=453042

Can't go too wrong for that price. Based on past experience of myself and friends I'll take the crappiest Toshiba over a Dell any day. I have never known a Dell laptop that didn't have major problems after a couple years. I've had my Toshiba Satellite Pro since 2001. Still a trooper but getting pretty slow.

Looks like a pretty meh system tbh.
If you're going to try to hold on a to a computer for an absurd amount of time then you should at least get a processor that isn't already way behind the times.

+1 to the Toshibas.

I had an Acer before and it was by far the crappiest piece of junk ever. It broke like 4 or 5 times (everytime something different ofc...) and it always took the full 4 weeks to return from repair. After the warranty expired for 1 or 2 weeks it died again obv...
Replaced it with a Toshiba Satellite and this thing just runs and runs and runs. Only problem is that it has Windows Vista installed and i'm way too lazy to backup all my stuff and install Win 7...

Yea it's meh. But for $400 (about 1/3 of the price of a good laptop if I was going to go that route) if it blows up after 6 months I won't sweat it. I just want something reliable to play some poker, email, web-browse while I'm traveling that will last me a year, maybe two if I'm lucky.,

Cliffnotes : **** DELL

I bought an amazing one loaded with EVERY UPGRADE giong into the series a couple years ago, also bought the nut extended warranty with next day in home service

I am still 'paying for' the decision to buy a dell - I have had the monitor, harddrive, keyboard, and 4 GB of ram replaced (last week), but its like pulling teeth to get them to actually acknowledge something needs to be replaced. I would imagine over the life of the laptop Ive spent 15-20 hours so far. 'Next day in home service' is a huge joke. Should be called 'we are going to diagnose it with you on the phone , if and only if we have exhausted EVERY possible option and run every bull**** meaningless test, will we send a tech to install a new part'

Lastnight I spent 2 hours running bull**** tests with someone whos english comprehension I would estimate @ 20% We tested the memory for at least half of that time, despite me telling her several times that I had 4 GB of brand new memory installed last week and I really think we should be looking elsewhere.

Btw, if braminc comes in here and posts how good apple customer service is, Im going to leap to my death
