I find it deeply troubling that this decision comes a day after damning testimony by former acting Attorney General Sally Yates on Russia’s ties to the Trump campaign and just days before Comey was scheduled to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
“President Trump has repeatedly taken steps to kill inquiries into Russia’s involvement in the U.S. election. It is clear that whomever President Trump handpicks to lead the FBI will not be able to objectively carry out this investigation. We need an independent investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia."

I was simply stating that:
1 - There is no point over the last 110 days that Comey could have been fired that would not have elicited a similar response to today (even with such things as the aforementioned by goofyballer related to both recent subpoenas and request for more funds for Russian investigation), and
2 - Personally my level of 'shookness' would have been a bit higher had he immediately fired Comey upon taking office, even though my level of concern over the firing yesterday is still quite high.
Also I completely agree with your points in your last post.
And that would be completely justified.
1. Comey's actions were in Trump's favor. There's no way under any circumstances at any time that anyone should give the slightest bit of credibility to the idea that Trump would fire Comey for any wrong doing towards Clinton or to protect the reputation of the FBI or anything like that. Obviously he would only fire Comey to protect himself or one of his supporters.
2. Just about everything Trump does should be strenuously objected to and opposed.
The only problem I have with the Russia investigation is that the emoluments seems like a slam dunk and Russia might be a distraction.
