Re: President Trump

Honestly, I have no idea. Unfortunately, I haven't read the entire thread but I think you have some good ideas for stopping the people in Chicago from killing each other so let's apply them to St. Louis where they can do more good. Unfortunately it is tough for me to go back in the thread (bad phone) so maybe you could post those ideas again?

Re: President Trump

I can wait until you have a better phone. No real solutions here either. If someone had one, this wouldn't be happening so often.

It will be a while before I buy a new phone.

I think we can work out some solutions together. I think we need to start by hashing out exactly what the problem is.

In general, what and who are causing these problems in St. Louis? (or Chicago, if you prefer, since that is your area of expertise).

Re: President Trump

Idk, you seemed to have brought up the idea of,

"I think we should tackle the issue of certain types of people killing each other in Florida and St. Louis before we worry about Chicago."

Enlighten me. I haven't tackled it yet, you just brought St. Louis to my attention.

Re: President Trump

Gustafson26,

Sorry, I'm trying to tell you that I don't know. We can focus on Chicago if you like. I'm not knowledgeable enough about St. Louis, but I know you know a lot about the problem in Chicago. Maybe if we solve Chicago we can focus that solution on the bigger problem of St. Louis and Florida.

So, what is the problem in Chicago?

I dunno jack ****, I just copy / pasted those numbers out of the calculator app.

Gustafson26, I respect your posting, and I just want to hear your opinions man. Like, you posted this stuff:

This might explain it too (page 17 has a map)

And so it's clear that you know a lot about the subject. I just want your insight!

Like, let's start with question #1a:

In order to stop murders, we need to know who is committing them. So, who is committing murders in Chicago?

Hi Gustafson26,

Sorry, I'm confused. What makes you think I am not calm?

I am simply asking for your opinion on how we can stop those people from killing each other in Chicago, as I know you are knowledgeable on the subject.

Best,
TiltedDonkey

Re: President Trump

I know what assuming does but, I'm assuming the murderers are doing the killing. How else should I answer that? Idk how to solve any of it. If I did, I would be there trying to help. There doesn't seem to be anything that is deterring it right now. I just wish you would help since you said,
"I think we should tackle the issue of certain types of people killing each other in Florida and St. Louis before we worry about Chicago."
Again, I'm assuming, but it seems you want to tackle your suggestion first, so shoot. (Pun intended)

Again, you ANSWERED the question you asked. Whatever the number is, it must be greater than 1,000. Now, if this was just rhetoric replying to Trolly, then fine. But I don't think it's unreasonable to read your response the way that I have.

2.Whats not to understand? This years #s are on pace to match last years #s. Simple math.
Okay, this is clear.

3. Based on the # of shooting in Chicago this year, the people in the communities where the majority of the shootings occur don't seem to care that much.
Well, I would argue with that interpretation. I don't see how the number of murders illustrates how little people care. Certainly the murderers don't care. And, of course, there is ample evidence that people do care.

Quote:
4. Where is this "the people responsible for the carnage don't care, nor are the neighborhoods doing anything to deter it. Send in the national guard to eliminate domestic terrorism.", does it say the neighbors should send in the nat guard?
It obviously doesn't, but the neighborhoods don't have many options or much power, which is what I was getting at.

God, this is easy (to propose, though the money may not be there). More cops in the neighborhoods where murder rates are high.

Republican congressman: "Nobody dies because they don't have access to healthcare"

What would be worse - being so stupid that he believes this is true, or being so evil that he just lies about willfully voting in a bill that will cause many to die?

Hey Goofy,

The congressman is correct. Even those without insurance get the care they need. The people who die are the ones who are too lazy to work and whom are more interested in drinking or doing drugs than taking care of themeselves.

My friend has been without insurance for years and I assure you she is alive and well. In fact, she probably gets better care than me and I obviously have the best of the best coverage.

"I have an uninsured friend who hasn't died" is like the best conservatives-in-a-nutshell post I've ever seen, if she only she was black we'd have hit Republican bingo in a single sentence

What happens when someone shows up at the ER without insurance and doesn't put up the cash? Is there a federally set list of procedures the hospital has to perform?

Most poor people are already burdened with debt. Adding this to what they already owe wont make a bit of difference. Non of this debt is getting paid.

Re: President Trump

Seeing as it's (to my understanding) public hospitals that can't turn people down, doesn't them defaulting on medical debts imply that tax payers are footing the bill either way?

Quote:

But where do they draw the line for what counts as an emergency? If you have a heart attack they'll take you in to deal with it immediately. But if you don't urgently need the bypass surgery right then and there, do you just get tossed out until you have another heart attack?

Just to clarify, any hospital that receives Medicare payments must treat emergency patients--so that is virtually every hospital in the US.

The government does not reimburse the hospital for this emergency care, so the cost is passed on to all customers.
