Re: President Trump

What are you suggesting though? That we forbid an adult from making changes to his own body in ways that don't impact others? Or that we should be allowed to be aggressively disrespectful in public as long as people will laugh at our jokes?

I think the last 3 posts prove my point that all 3 of you have no idea what I'm talking about. Astronomy, courts, and jokes were brought up.

Wow.

Thank God you are here to explain it to us.
If by "state of mind" then you mean certain amounts and combibations of chemicals in the brain then you are likely correct.

And oftentimes there are physical indicators too like parts of both sex organs.

Regardless, the way i look at it is these ppl have really hard lives and face all kinds of discrimination and social problems so it really doesn't make much sense for them to be faking.

So its really no big deal to me to address them a certain way and if it makes them slightly more comfortable then i can handle it. I would consuder that compassion. The golden rule yq know.

Dude, what does any of this have to do what I'm saying? This doesn't mean a thing.

I'm saying that people's self perception doesn't dictate what they are. I am not 7 feet tall because I identify as 7 feet tall. My hair isn't blonde because I identify as a blonde. My IQ isn't 160 because I identify as a genius. And I'm not a woman because I identify as a woman.

What is so unbelievably, ridiculously hard about this?

Thank God you are here to explain it to us.

There's always been a clear distinction between sex and gender. It's not a new thing.

And you're not being accurate here in saying it's 99.9% of humanity because there certainly are historic cultures that make distinctions for non-binary gender.

Also,

"For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.””

Matthew 19:12

Some people * COUGH * do have the mental age of a four year old despite losing their baby teeth.

You would prefer to treat them as adults.

These ppl almost always have physical and chemical characteristics of both sexes. Read about caster semonya.

Regardless it has to do with human decency. It is trivial for me to address someone by their preference so i will do so. In fact it sure seems much easier to do that rather than call them something else.

You truly just don't get it. Dude I dont care if someone named Bob wants me to call them Jennifer. That means nothing, who cares? What I care about is them being able to enter the woman's weightlifting competition.

How many more ways do you want me to explain this to you?

I don't think it's fair to attribute this attitude to all republicans, but that is the sentiment you get from an honest reading of donalds life and it's one that's shared by at least a few republicans at high levels. Of course there's always plausible deniability for all the things trump has done, but you don't have to prove these things beyond a shadow of a doubt to recognize the likely truth of it.

Realistically a lot of his base is white people who are of the same opinion. And the minorities who hate him are seeing it ust as clearly, and that's why his approval rating is in the dumps for basically all non-whites.
Yeah, I'm not sure I even agree with my use of the term moral failing there.

I'll use an example outside the republican/democrat sphere to explain what I meant.

I am absolutely convinced of the arguments against eating meat. My point is that someone who reaches that same conclusion and decides to become a vegetarian doesn't suddenly become a better person even if their actions now lead to less suffering in the world.

There are better and worse answers to most political questions but being on the wrong side of an issue doesn't make someone an irredeemably bad person who is unwilling or incapable of doing good. We all have our own biases and pockets of ignorance.

All the hatred just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I have a ton of hatred toward ppl that want to steal from money and resources from, and steal money and resources from others, so that they can enrich themselves and the top .1%.

it is absolutely a moral failure if you and your group is intent on destroying the rights of others and holding large groups of ppl down.

so, nope. reasonable ppl simply cannot agree when one group is intent on oppression others. and the fact that they are doing it with subterfuge and propaganda makes it even more infuriating.

Now, now. There's obviously some hidden angle here for eventually making millionaires out of 53-year old Rust Belt Bible thumping HS dropouts earning $37,482 annually in the coal mining and manufacturing industries.

Do you really think that the average republican is actively TRYING to steal money and resources from others? And that they actually WANT to destroy the rights of others?

This sanctimonious nonsense is unreal. You really should know better

But fine. What do you think the root cause of the difference is? Republicanism isn't a diagnosis in DSM5 but do you think that there is some biological reason republicans are horrible stupid racists? If, for example, the area of the brain that is responsible for compassion is diminished for republicans, does hating them for this make sense?

Or if horrible stupid racism is something that is learned, wouldn't teaching these horrible stupid racists to not be horrible stupid racists be more effective than just hating them for being horrible stupid racists?

yes. emphatically yes. but, I mean, not really emphatically. I really dont need to shout it or strongly assert it. bc it is just matter of fact true.

have you read their bill proposals? have you read their enacted bills? have you read their analysis of legal issues? have you read their platforms?

I know it pains you to admit that fly has been right for the last 10+ years. I was legit shocked when I realized it but since I didnt have a problem with fly it was no big deal.

honestly, I think the root cause is fox news and the republican leadership.

and, I am also pretty sure that their have been studies that have shown that republicans rate much lower on compassion. I think one study showed that the compassion part of the brain did not get energized as often or as strongly as ppl who identify with the left. rather, the part of the brain that reflects fear lit up like a xmas tree for republicans.

I gotta say that I do find this super ironic. the party and group of ppl that acts macho and denigrates the other side for being wussies are actually just a bunch of reactive scaredy-cats. I really wonder how juan valdez reconciless this with his worldview.

You're talking about cases like fallon fox.

And they have standards set of where her hormones have to be. You can argue the standards are too loose, and if he/she does have some as of yet undefined advantage (undefined by the current standards) that'll likely be integrated into their policy (eventually). It's only because it's such a rare occurrence in UFC that the standards haven't been more refined so as to capture what I think is a fairly obvious edge associated with her biology. It's not as if trannies are running amok in competitive female sports though. I hope this isn't something that keeps you up at night.

OK so there are a group of people predisposed to being afraid and having lower levels of compassion being manipulated by actual sadists and psychopaths running the Republican Party.

Why would you hate these people?

Even if you think they are completely deluded, isn't compassion still the most reasonable response? How does hatred make the situation better?

Oddly enough this is one where Fly and I veer sharply, hence me mentioning his friends and family.

Well please don't do either. This is not the place for attacking posters or their family and friends.

How has nobody pointed out how stupid it is to answer yes to this question? Republicans are trying to reduce the amount of money we take from the rich while dems are trying to take more from the rich. If anyone is trying to "steal" money it would be dems.

Hatred is an understandable emotional response but it tends to oppose being rational or reasonable. The politics of hatred is an interesting topic - that's people who rationalise (rightly or wrongly to some extent) their hatred as a good or positive thing as opposed to those who think it's a negative/destructive thing even when understandable.

Maybe it deserves it's own thread.
