Hey you, the guys spewing epithets in chat boxes Hey you, the guys spewing epithets in chat boxes

12-22-2014 , 03:27 AM
You aren't cool. You think because you sit behind a keyboard it's okay to spew racial and homophobic epithets at players?

I don't care who put a bad beat on who, if I cracked your AA with KK or 72 off, there's no excuse for it and I for one am sick of seeing it. The chat box can be a useful tool or else I'd just block it completely...the amount of blatantly obscene remarks I see is getting ridiculous and I'm tired of having to go to support every other time I play to report it. Maybe I'll just start posting their SN's here.

If you have to 'get your hate on', do it with your name and face behind it. Otherwise you're just a coward with a keyboard. Smarten up, read a book, and get outside once in a while.

I know it's just words - but some words should be best left unsaid. You don't really know most people that you sit with at the tables and what they've gone through IRL. And I don't care if you use it with friends. Keep it off the poker table. It has no place there (or anywhere really).

It's "epithets", not "epitaphs" you silly little boy.

i happen to despise it myself.
I spend alot of time telling the cry babies to relax.Waste of breathe imo.
Absurd how little the guys that do this understand the game of plo and go on rants after every hand they lose.
i just block the bad ones now.

Dude, it's the internet. No one is serious. Get over it.

I'm in favor of spewing epitaphs in chat boxes.

"Here lies [player_name], beloved husband, cherished father, and guy who couldn't fold top pair / top kicker at level one of a deep-stacked MTT"

Seems pretty serious to those who spew. I just come to play a little poker. Not to listen to the offensive rants. So I report them. Case closed.

Call me crazy but my hunch is that racial and homophobic remarks are pretty serious to minorities and gays.

Phew....Thankfully I only tell people to get diseases and don't use racial or homophobic remarks.

haha, awesome.

These guys probably don't post on 2p2 though, whats it going to do to say so and so drops the N and F bomb non stop?

Is that not allowed in these forums anyways? I'm all for shaming the dopes that go insane with this garbage. Normally though I just insult them and say ez game. The only ones I MIGHT report are so easy to tilt and crush that I'll let someone else do the complaining.

When people resort to those kind of crude comments I generally entertain myself by grading their originality and encouraging them to try harder to come up with something better.

It amazes me how butt hurt and offended grown adults can get by what random strangers say on the internet. GET OVER IT
12-23-2014 , 03:55 PM
i don't know how you have the balls to make a thread like this
12-23-2014 , 04:03 PM

I don't get how this is so common place as to be made a joke of. Of course I'll play back at people that spew general nonsense...but when it goes to this level, I mean, come on now. I'm fairly surprised the amount of 'get over it' comments there are on this. I understand the trolololol ones, and I expected a few. I just don't like blanket acceptance of slurs, racial remarks, and homophobic language at online poker tables. What's wrong with that?

I've contacted support about this numerous times when it happens. It's just tiring to have to do so.
12-23-2014 , 08:24 PM
i think everything is pretty much fair game except for race or talking about real life things (a friend of mines beat cancer and its pretty known, but one of his fish always says to get cancer again- pretty scummy right)

other than that anything goes imo. i personally like talking about peoples mothers on the felt
12-23-2014 , 09:28 PM
Its random people on the ****ing INTERNET. Its going to happen no matter how much you whine and run like a two year old to support.

If you let things like this on the internet bother you I can't even imagine how poorly you deal issues in real life. You're a grown ass man I'm assuming so once again GET OVER IT.
12-23-2014 , 10:12 PM
I've had people call me every name in the book over the last 7 years or so playing online and I honestly couldn't care less. The thing is there are people who care and either stop playing or play less after being called a ******ed cock sucking ******.

What if they ban his chat?

😥😥😥lol at reporting people
12-24-2014 , 12:51 AM
I think that this thread has attracted a lot of the players who make those types of comments. I think what is LOL is that some people are actually defending racial and homophobic comments on the grounds that it is only the internet.

Agree with OP 100%.

Saddens me at times to see the utter lack of respect by some.

It might be on the "Internet", but real people are behind the screen names.

I suspect it to be partially a generational thing, call it ignorance of youth perhaps, but I also know the majority of younger players don't behave in such a manner.

I also know that the scummy nature of what I see in chat boxes far surpasses anything I see in the Live B&M rooms I play in in CT & Atlantic City.

I suspect it's for the reason that most of these Chat Abusers are just pathetic, nerds, that get off on talking smack in a chat box, and would NEVER have the balls to make the same statements in a face to face setting.

They are the same people you see trolling these forums, slinging nothing but insults, without ever having anything positive or constructive to offer.

They would get beat up, or thrown out. (Possibly both) - and they know it, so they keep quiet.

For me, I can take it. But it breaks my heart when I know some older person, or someone I know that's been through certain things, suddenly gets attacked. (over a card game

The local card room in my area opened an online room about 1.5 years ago, where they allow players to free roll for hotel stays and tourney BI's. Because it's local, I know many of the players on line, and so when I see some random stranger come in and start up with the N-word, this, that and the other.........it pisses me off.

So despite what the young ballers have to say about it, I insta copy/paste the offending chat, and send it to support.

Every......single.....time.

Happily, the site I play on acts on it, and temp bans/bans players for egregious chat.

If you wouldn't say it live, please don't say it in chat.

And to those that "lol reporting people" - deal with it.

In my experience, people who do this in chat are, almost to a person, losing players. Like 98%+. And most of them do it because at least to some extent they're just sad little tilt monkeys. And many of them are cowards too, getting a false sense of toughness by smack talking people over the internets saying things they would never dare say in a live game to someone's face.

Not making excuses for them. It's wrong. And it's bad for the game, as it won't affect the solid players at all but may turn off new players and weak players alike. Kudos to those who report them. I'm not bothered by what some clown on the internet says to rile me up (often I'm stacking enough tables that I don't even see their silly chat), but some of the players who I would like to be having a good time sure might be, and that's not good for anyone.

Absolutely, who cares if your aunt was 'beloved' or how long you lived, keep it to yourself ffs, now I have to read it on my screen? And the one that really gets me, 'RIP Doyle'
