Agree with OP 100%.
Saddens me at times to see the utter lack of respect by some.
It might be on the "Internet", but real people are behind the screen names.
I
suspect it to be partially a generational thing, call it ignorance of youth perhaps, but I also know the majority of younger players don't behave in such a manner.
I also know that the scummy nature of what I see in chat boxes far surpasses anything I see in the Live B&M rooms I play in in CT & Atlantic City.
I suspect it's for the reason that most of these Chat Abusers are just pathetic, nerds, that get off on talking smack in a chat box, and would NEVER have the balls to make the same statements in a face to face setting.
They are the same people you see trolling these forums, slinging nothing but insults, without ever having anything positive or constructive to offer.
They would get beat up, or thrown out. (Possibly both) - and they know it, so they keep quiet.
For me, I can take it. But it breaks my heart when I know some older person, or someone I know that's been through certain things, suddenly gets attacked. (over a card game
The local card room in my area opened an online room about 1.5 years ago, where they allow players to free roll for hotel stays and tourney BI's. Because it's local, I know many of the players on line, and so when I see some random stranger come in and start up with the N-word, this, that and the other.........it pisses me off.
So despite what the young ballers have to say about it, I insta copy/paste the offending chat, and send it to support.
Every......single.....time.
Happily, the site I play on acts on it, and temp bans/bans players for egregious chat.
If you wouldn't say it live, please don't say it in chat.
And to those that "lol reporting people" - deal with it.
