Henning was someone I considered as a heel pick but probably wouldn't have been my very first choice.

Bruno would have been a superb pairing with Vince as well -- can't speak for sure to whether he was better than Thesz for that slot, but my sense is he was.

Or, mega-face them both and you have two more elite faces than a lot of people will have -- and it's always easier to get heels anyway.
Yeah the more I think about it the more I like the idea of having both as a face. I can have the Sammartino vs thuganomics Cena feud early and as Cena's career evolves a reasonably big company can handle two big faces and together they draw a ton. It should also be possible to make a huge face vs face feud with these two guys at some point.

I would probably have taken Sammartino if Thesz was taken or taken him if he was still availiable when it comes back to me.
Do we assume people like Sammartino or Misawa will get the same popularity in our fed as in real life as opposed to an estimation of potential or something? I don't think you can and thought Thesz would fit 2012 better.

Isnt Henning terrible here because of his short in ring career?

I'm mulling over a trade offer. I'll have a decision within the next 15 min.

He was around for like 14 years counting AWA. Granted he was only in the big spotlight for like four years.

my apologies then. If i had realized that, I probably wouldve taken him. I think HHH and Henning would work real well together as either adversaries or in a stable.

I knew id be in meeting until my clock time and just picked the first name I thought of. I mean, Andre was the biggest draw in the world forever, and the first crossover star, but I just dont see him working with HHH.

Yeah you probably don't want to have the huge giant job to HHH all the time

This is apropos of absolutely nothing, but this gave me a chuckle, because it made me think of:

Decided against trade.

With my second round pick I select:

Spoiler:
Rowdy Roddy Piper!

I feel like this is a great compliment to The Rock as each shines when faced with similarly charismatic wrestlers to work with. Roddy provides me with excellent versatility as he can be both a top heel and a top face and can even go into managerial and talking segment roles.

One problem is that I will lose him for a few years when he tries to go Hollywood (running theme in the company!) but fortunately he will fail then stick around for about another decade.

Current Roster:

The Rock
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper

Nice pick, Piper was on the top of my list.

My second pick:

Spoiler:

Vader

There may be better value picks available here but I need a monster heel and they don't get much better than Vader. He's a very good worker for somebody his size and was a big drawing heel in Japan and WCW. He's an 8 time world champion and has a 20+ year career, with around 10 of those years in or around the main events.

Spoiler:
TJC Wrestling Roster:
Hulk Hogan
Vader

Just draft the Grand Nagus and have him manage Andre.

I had Piper > Hennig, he was my backup choice for Sammartino.

I think it's way too early for Vader. Who says you need monster heels for Hogan?

With the 30th pick in the draft, I select...

Spoiler:

Decades of longevity, decades of very high quality, cult-like popularity overseas...I have little doubt that Flair and Inoki can make all kinds of beautiful music together. They only met once, in 1995, and despite this being a bit later than both of their respective primes, it's a very good match.

These two can carry my company for an incredibly long time.

Spoiler:
My roster so far:
Ric Flair
Antonio Inoki

I was never planning on drafting Japanese wrestlers because no matter how good they are in the ring it is very unlikely that they will be able to sell tons of tickets (or make a decent buyrate) in the US. WCW found this out the hard way a few times.

I do understand the risk of my pick, and have a vision for how I'm going to make my company work. I won't say more yet in order to stay away from discussing my strategy.

I actually like HHH and Andre, just so long as you realise you are just using HHH as Hogan and you can basically mirror real life where they keep out of each other's way for a long time then end up clashing.

Not sure about Vader. I like him, i can see lots of great ways to use him, i just think you need to keep in mind the huge negative that he injures people on the reg.

I also think what you are getting is a guy who, if memory serves, worked monster heel for a LONG time and really successfully. I still maintain having a great heel is worth way more than a great face in this draft.
