Yes. But there's room to make fun of both.

In mflip's defense, he did post with a great new avatar and nobody acknowledged it ITT until this post.

His old avatar was way better.

Meh. Disagree. If 2p2 had nothing but Mad Men-related avatars, I would have no complaints.

I can say with 100% certainty that none of the last four wrestlers picked were in my top 20 left.

Welcome to your main event!

Who says they have to be booked against each other?

I can understand this for the last 3 but Piper?

My ranking of the duos (with the LDO caveat that obviously two wrestlers does not a fed make):

Savage/Sting — What's not to like?
Rock/Piper — I LOVE this pairing! The promos could be absolutely epic.
Jericho/Rhodes — Yes, please! (with heel Jericho LDO)
Angle/Punk — This is just a very small notch below what's above it. I'd go heel Punk vs. face badass Angle.
HHH/Andre — I'm much bigger on this matchup than most, with heel HHH facing a more mobile, face Andre.
Hogan/Vader — Very cool matchup in theory, in reality it wouldn't work well IMO.
Hart/Perfect — Obviously very solid but doesn't feel like a great main event given the talent pool available, especially from the draw/money side.
Foley/Funk — I know they had a legendary rivalry, and I love both, but I'm meh on it at the very top of a league's supercard.
Flair/Inoki — Love the matchup from a historical perspective, not so much personally.
Cena/Sammartino — Have a hard time judging this. Like the idea of thugonomics Cena vs. traditional face Bruno.
Taker/Steamboat — Not a good matchup BUT this team will be much better in another 2-3 picks.
DiBiase/Bryan — Love DiBiase. I'm sorry but Bryan went too soon.
McMahon/Thesz — I have no idea how to rate this. Know very little about Thesz.
Edge/Misawa — I really do think a lack of Misawa English promos hurts. I also am not a huge Edge fan.
HBK/Yoko — Eww. Yoko is a startlingly bad second-round pick.

Let's see who gets paired up with Austin.

Piper's the most overrated wrestler ever. I honestly can't think of one good match he's been in, and everyone always says he was great on the mic but I've never seen it.

I think non-senile piper vs the rock will be awesome

Wrestling isnt all about the mat work. Its about the story telling from start to finish. What they lack in wrestling story they pwn in promos.

I've always been surprised at the amount of hate Piper gets from some on this forum. No, he wasn't a great worker (though he was passable), but yes, he could cut some great promos back in the 80s.

If all you saw of him was after 1990, you missed out.

Okay for the billionth time, please somebody produce some of this evidence of great Piper mic work. Video footage of it must exist if it happened...he's not that old.

Don't have time to youtube research.

Piper did rely a lot on comedy one-liners so if you don't like his kind of comedy, well, you'll hate him.

GAAAAAAAAAHH this happens every time.

If he was this amazing heel I'd sincerely love to see it. I'm not just playing gotcha with the Piper fans, I promise.

No comment on my personal views on Piper, but even if you don't like him there is a guy in this promo that will save it:

Maybe I'm wrong but didn't Piper have a very long career and was big in various promotions?

Well yeah, difficult to have avoided that even if I wanted to. I figured there was more to it than that given his legendary heel status.

The biggest reason that I doubt those who I otherwise trust the wrestling opinions of on this is that even after 1990 Piper doesn't get hated on as a has-been. He still seems to get renowned by many who claim that his mic work remained good. This leaves me going "WTF" and not knowing how I can believe the worship of his prior work.
