$2/$5 mainly. I crushed it for two nights in a row two weeks ago. Bought in for $500 and cashed out for $1700 both times. Also been playing $5/$10 some nights at Tampa Downs. Sitting on some black chips from HR at the moment and contemplating if I can pull an all nighter... lmfao prob not.

Just curious as to if there are good games going on at all times of the day and night that are also "profitable" games. The perspective of a reg doing 40k-80k (or higher with the limits lifted) would be appreciated.
Been grinding HARD in Tampa for a few years. (paid rent playing $2/$5 with $100 cap) and I'd have to say that the games are FARRRRR better. There are a lot of "out of towners" but there is still a TON of money to be made. I don't think they are any more or less LAG than before the limits changed. I don't find it particularly juicy middle of the week late night. During the day in the middle of the week is okay but not good.

No matter how bad the week is though, nothing beats a Friday night at the HR. It's sooooo easy to kill it. 90% of the tables are LAG and soft.

PM me for more info if you want it. Not sure I gave you a good answer here but I can prob help more.

The two other poker rooms rooms in Tampa are damn good on the weekends too. When there is live racing at the Tampa Downs, my schedule always ends up there on Saturday night. It's amazing. I have played in some of the best $2/$5 games in my life there.

Looks like I am going to HR tonight. Going to wear something different then posted above . Wish me luck. Will post about my night later on.

This is crazy to say, as I sit in McCarran waiting to fly back to Tampa. I've been out here on business for a few weeks, playing at night mostly @ Bellagio(its where I was staying).

I honestly can't wait to get back to Tampa, and play, the games here in Vegas were terrible in comparison to when I played at THR last. I ended up playing all the limits of NL that was being spread regularly even on the weekends out here the games were mostly nitty, and boring.

The two trips I've taken to THR have been so profitable that I'm considering moving down to Tampa in January if I can't find a FT job with a CPA firm. I half-jokingly asked my fiancee what she thought about this idea if the job-hunt doesn't go so well and she actually didn't have a problem with it. Obviously this isn't going to happen because ultimately I'd make less money doing this route than the CPA route, but daaaaaaamn I wish ATL wasn't so far away

Let's meet up tonight. I will be there around 9:00. I'll have on my Syracuse hat and white Puma jacket at the 5/10 tables.

I play 1/3 and 2/5 there. Have always suspected that competition at 5/10 so much better that absent hitting hands too tough to overcome and so therefore 1/3 and 2/5 is more profitable. Incorrect?

And of course I would naturally expect that the only degens playing on a Monday night in Florida in August are regulars who by and large know what they are doing. At least relative to influx of noobs during the season or on Friday nights.

This is the slowest time of year at HR. Back to school causes this. Mondays are the slowest anyway.

2/5 has better players imo. I haven't played 1/3 at all but I have friends who beat that game at a pretty big clip- small sample since they just started in July.

Of course your win rate will be altered by the days you play. 6 BB/hr on weeknights should be sustainable and 10 BB/hr weekends is a good goal imo.

VINCENT LECAVALIER CELEBRITY POKER CLASSIC

TRY YOUR HAND AGAINST PROS ANNIE DUKE & JOE SEBOK ON SEPT. 10

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The list of celebrity participants is growing as one of the hottest nights of the year is quickly approaching. Make sure you’re a part of the action at the UltimateBet.net Vincent Lecavalier Celebrity Poker Classic on September 10 at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg.

More than 40 sports and entertainment celebrities are set to go “all in” for charity, including some of the top names in poker and sports. Confirmed participants include UB.net poker pros Annie Duke (2004 World Series of Poker bracelet winner) and Joe Sebok, as well as 2007 World Series Main Event champion Jerry Yang and Tampa’s own John Racener, who has played his way into a seat at the 2010 Main Event final table in November.

Also confirmed for the event are boxing world champion Antonio Tarver, Jared Jeffries of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Litsch and many of Lecavalier’s Tampa Bay Lightning teammates, including Steven Stamkos, Martin St. Louis, Simon Gagne, Teddy Purcell, Sean Bergenheim and Matt Smaby. Also scheduled to hit the felt are local radio and television personalities, including Cowhead from 102.5 The Bone and Fisher from 97X. Many more celebrity announcements are expected in the coming days.

The Texas Hold’Em tournament benefits the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at All Children’s Hospital. Since its debut in 2006, the Vincent Lecavalier Celebrity Poker Classic has raised more than $350,000 for the center.

Participants will compete for a $100,000 total prize pool as well as progressive celebrity bounties, so it pays to knock out the stars. Don’t sweat the cards, though, as there are unlimited $100 re-buys during the first hour of play to guarantee you get to enjoy the action. Celebrities will play for a $20,000 Last Celebrity Standing payday to be donated to their favorite charity.

Tournament spots are going fast as individual buy-ins start at only $550 and all entries include a boot camp clinic with Yang. A $750 buy-in earns you a seat for a once-in-a-lifetime boot camp clinic with Duke and Sebok, and the clinic with Yang. To register, call 727.781.8183 or visit www.vinny4.com.

VIP All Access guest passes, spectator passes and individual passes for the poker clinics can also be purchased.

The evening, presented by DEX Imaging, gets started at 5 p.m. with a Private VIP/Players Draw Party in The Derby Club, followed by the Wild Card Party in the Derby Lane Poker Room featuring entertainment, a silent auction, a raffle, gaming, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for all guests at 6 p.m. The tournament gets underway at 7 p.m., with an awards ceremony to follow.

Is this supposed to sweeten the deal somehow? lol

Obvi couldn't do a meet up tonight. That was wishful thinking.... who grinds Mondays? lol

Made a small profit last night after recovering from a major cooler (SB v BB flopped full houses in a limp pot) weeeeeeeeeee

Probably playing the Vinny tourney again this year. But yeah why Jerry Yang? Why not just give us a direct buy in? I don't want a camp with Jerry Yang or Sebok for that matter. Not in to camps. I think I'll bite the bullet and play still.

If nothing else you could sell the camp ticket or give it as a gift to a younger/more casual player. I went to a camp with Greg Raymer at Pinehurst in April, 2006 before I been playing seriously for too long and I really enjoyed the experience. Wouldn't care as much now but a camp with a recent WSOP winner definitely has some value.

LOL is right.

I got into a discussion about this thing yesterday, the person who was telling me about it was all excited about the potential of playing with Duke, Sebok or Yang. I actually felt very depressed for this person.

The only way I am playing this thing is if the buyin is free to me.

I saw you at the cashier shortly after I saw your post. Then a little later I looked for you at the 1/3nl tables and didnt see you.
Did you you hit and run or did the game just suck?

I was there until 11:30, first at 4-8, then 5-9. 4-8 was sucking hard, so I put in for a table change. Lo and behold, not 5 minutes later I double up with top set, then immediately get the call to move. From there it was a slow bleed. Of course, the main donator gets himself even through a gutterball vs. top set and immediately racks up. I did the same about 15 minutes later.
