I agree 100% great local monthly tourny, but I could swear it was only 10k and change for first

If they want to hire me to run the poker room I would move back to Sacramento and turn it into a world class room.

/dreamrant

But seriously, they have so many things going for them I hate to see them waste that potential.

As a tournament player I hope when the thunder valleys poker room manager gets snagged by another casino that his replacement is HALF as tournament friendly as he has been.

With two more highly nationalized events coming in first quarter of January and the last televised event still yet to air it's only a matter of time.

Just watch him leave and all tournament action gets shut down. Then I'll be out of business, on the street, and really have something to complain about. Or I'll have to start traveling again

I checked the paperwork. It's 10% exactly. Not 25%, a huge difference.

I'm sorry you've been missing out on a slew of great tournaments and series because you thought the rake was 25%.

I hope with this new information that it is actually lower than you think it should be that you'll be playing many more events now.

Also, gonna give you benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake and not intentional.

10% seems very fair for the structure and 15,000 starting chips.

As we covered before most rooms wouldn't give up the seats on a weekend with this kind of structure. They would rather run cash games.
Maybe it's the daily tournament that's 25%. In fact, it is...just looked at an old receipt...$30 buy-in, $10 player fee...that's ripoff. I thought it was for all the TV run tournaments--my bad.

I'm going to retire from talking up thunder valley.

I just checked my poker journal. Final tabled or chopped 6 of last 8 events I've played at thunder. I don't want any good players joining the field.

If my win rate is 75% must be softest field ever because I'm not that good.

Just ask barber.

You are clearly good, but you are also running way above expectation. Is happily crossbook with you. Just name the time and place.

Oh and thanks for the compliment. Coming from you it's an honor. I agree. Running hot and way above expectation. 30% on the year. 75% since nov. 1.

Anyone know if bay 101 will have any other $250 satellites to the $7,500 WPT?

I see Dec 21 and Jan 4 are on the schedule but I am unavailable those days.

Anything after jan 4th?

I think the confusion was in your wording. You said $30 buyin $10 fee, where usually the buyin includes all the fees. So it's a $40 buyin where $30 goes to the prize pool and $10 goes to the house.

If I'm wrong please disregard.

It's a $40 tournament and $10 goes to the house (25% rake). That's damn high. At capitol it's $30 entry and $5 goes to the house (1/6), although they do have a dealer appreciation that's $5 which one could argue that it's part of the rake, BUT Capital adds a $220 seat to every tournament that the house pays for which lowers the overall rake. They also have a $30 add-on where an additional $5 goes to the house so if you buy in for the max ($65, $15 of it is going to the house and dealers) which is 23%. But when you factor in the $220 seat, that subtracts about 7% or so from the rake and you're looking at about 15 or 16%, which is still high but much better than 25%.

Ahh. You didn't specify that it was 30+10. Also, that like, 50 too many words to describe a $40 local tournament. You get what you pay for. If they can't make more than $10 per seat they aren't going to run it because it's not worth their time.

CeJeh. Wow. I agree with you.

I was just gonna add if you compare their larger monthly tournaments. It's 10% vs 15%. Cap has a 50% higher rake.

But I hate thunder and their dailies.

Thx. That whole replacement card thing was brutal, but I wouldn't have complained if I had won. **** happens I guess. I still tipped the staff since that was the only mistake/ exposed card I had seen in 3 days :-)
