Yesterday, which I suppose was tuesday. This was in 20/40 though and james was still dealing at the time. The dude on the heater was a middle aged asian man. It was kinda funny because he was showing me every hand he played and he made some epic bottom pair call downs, and hit EVERY draw he had. I kept giving him pounds when he would hit one of his long shot draws. Unfortunately my enthusiasm for his success didn't translate into any of my own. Maybe I should try his strategy. He would say since his big cards don't win he needed to play the little ones. Makes sense DUCY?????

Yes I DUCY. Plus, no one expects those little cards to show up in big pots. It's genius!

One of the dealers mentioned that not long ago there was a non-regular who crushed one of the red chip games, cashing out 18 racks.

That is amazing, now I must consider limit poker.

FYP. Good poker players are not able to "Crush" games for 18 racks. Most tags don't have huge wins bc they don't play a ton of hands. Super good lags ala Dmark may have say 10rack heaters when they run good but only super bad players will run 18 racks good. The reason being that good players don't put themselves in a position to get that lucky that often.

If that's what it takes to run 18 racks good, where do I find a copy of Holdem for Aspiring Super Bad Players?

This seems like a naive comment from someone who likely believes there is only one way to play limit poker for sustained long-term profits.

Players often call me an idiot at the table, some even will week in and week out for several months as I grind them down to the felt. The players who have played with me for years know better.

Yes, 18 racks is a huge run, but isnt insane at the right table when nobody ever believes you have a hand. 4-6 rack/hour swings are common in many games.

Sure, but it will have to be pretty high stakes to match what you can make off a loose 9 handed game w/ everyone tilting because you 4 bet with 74 2 hours ago.

Plus, limit heads up is a bore-fest.

I'm just saying over all the hours I have played I have never seen anyone go on a 18 rack heater. I've seen a few extremely good lags go on huge upswings but never 18 racks. The closest I have seen are from some super terrible players who get hit in the face with the deck. These sick heaters that these terrible players go on are what keeps them coming back over and over again. Sure they strike gold once in a blue moon but every other day in which they play in the style they do they lose.

A lot of good players play in a tag or semi lag (lagtag)style. This style doesn't give you the opportunity to run 18 rack good but it sure brings home the money much more often than the player calling down every hand and every draw that has that one day, for maybe 18 racks, where they hit everything and run like god.

There was also a new player in town who was at CBY 2 weekends back who wanted to buy into the 8/16 and 15/30 games for 5-10k. Not sure why, just goofy, I guess, he was a horrible player, but had a mountain of chips and zero profit. I guess he put a brick on the table and wanted chips, CBY refused to let him buy that much at 8/16, but let him at 15/30.

Coincidentily, that is about 18 racks, could have been the same guy. The dealer might have assumed it was a sick run instead of all buy in.

Dealers and the whole room would know if someone buys in for ~20 racks, it is so atypical here in MN that everyone would be talking.

The O8 tournaments are back, July 9th and 23rd. But I didn't see any PLO on the new schedule.

And the Saturday morning NLHE tournies are changing format from freeze-out to rebuy.

Nice!
Thanks for listening again RA management.
That is one of the things I love about this room.

Omaha players, let's all make sure to show up and support these so they don't go away again.

Damn, why can't they do one month of Stud and Stud 8. I may have to make the trek back up there in July since I haven't been up there in over a month.

Has anyone heard if RA's will do a Fall Classic similar to Canterbury??? Now that would be sweet if they did some NL, LHE, PLO, O8, Stud and Stud8 tournies! Hell throw in some HOSE and I'm soooooooooooo there!

Yeah, there's a series of events in late September and early October, mostly NLHE but I think there's at least one O8 event in the mix. I picked up a flyer about it but I think it's at home. A bunch of $200/$300 type of tournies with a circa $1000 event at the end and $100 or so tournies in the mix too, if memory serves.

Ugh, I'm so sick of Hold'em. The only time I ever go to Canterbury is for the Fall Classic, the Stud tourney is really small. I don't know how they got over 400 people for the O8 tourney the last few years, you'd think if that many people were interested they might come up to RA and give the Omaha tourneys a try.

FWIW, Running ACes actually had a 7-stud game (just 2/4 but you gotta start somewhere) running yesterday afternoon.

Not as such AFAIK but some of the dealers play short sessions (I think "on the clock") when they're there but there are not enough players in the room to add extra tables for available dealers. Kind of like what Matasow did when he was a dealer?
