Does anyone know if there is some sort of law that the 2/60 can't be more than a $200 max buy-in.
Not a law, just RA policy. Very, very unlikely to be changed.

The $60 cap on bets is set by state law, that's why we do not have no-limit cash games.

I was at TI yesterday and was told by one of the dealers that the May 100k tournament was not going to take place. You may want to call to confirm but that was the deal yesterday. I understand that they had about 260(about 50% of the max entries) for the last one.

I guess that doesn't surprise me at all that they didn't fill that tourney. They used to advertise their big tourneys on KFAN and now you don't hear anything. Kind of sad, I really liked their setup last year for the WSOP tourney in the new ballroom.

The 2/60 game is definitely beatable. I play in it semi-regularly, do not have a big BR, and do okay. I'm by no means a great player. But there are so many bad players in the 2/60 games that mere competence is a winning strategy.
When did you move up from 3/6?

Sure, but three tournaments with 500 seats in three consecutive months is a little odd. I'd bet they'd fill them if they held them once per quarter and continued with advertising (though I would think that their budget for poker is pretty small).

Oh, I still do play 3/6 sometimes but the 2/60 format has really grown on me. Started playing it sporadically a few months back and it's now what I play about 60% of the time. I really do not have the BR for 2/60 but I've been running well lately so what the hell. If I crash and burn, I'll just drop back to 3/6.

It looks like RA has another Omaha H/L limit tourney scheduled next Thursday 5/7 7:30PM.
Count me in for this one!

I think I'm actually going to hit up Treasure Island for 2/10 tonight.
This used to be my place before RA opened up so I think I might mix it up and give it a try tonight.

I remember watching a few times, I never remember seeing anything that would make me stay away from the table.

So if you got a $500 burning a hole in your pocket it's worth taking a shot?

Yeah I will not be playing in this O8 tourney because it's limit(though I may come up and play 2/60), but I will play any PLO8 or PLO tourney. I think they should add a NLO8....that would be AWESOME!

Another question. I can't make it up this weekend, but am pretty free all next week. Are the games worth it to show during a weeknight or not? Just wait for the weekend?

Thursday is usually pretty good because of the O8 tourney. I'm going to play some 2/60 that day instead of playing the limit O8 tourney. PLO at the end of the month though!!! does anyone know how many show up for the $150 NL tourney on Saturdays???

Weekday nights are busy but it's mostly regulars and semi-regulars so a bit less fishy than weekends. Omaha-HL8 is usually not running durung the week, but it sometimes does.

Oh yeah. FWIW, I did very well at 2/60 on Friday and Saturday (and also took 12th place in Saturday morning's NLHE tournament) but went into donkey mode on Sunday.

BTW, I don't think that anyone's yet mentioned their cheap ($40) Sunday morning NLHE tornaments. Including re-buys, yesterday had 295 entrants. I busted out when when top set on the flop lost to a runner-runner straight, but I saw a lot of fishy play before busting out. Many non-regulars in the Sunday tournament.

Anyone going to play the $400 DS tourney at RA Memorial Day Weekend? 20K in starting chips. Not thrilled that it only pays out 10 spots, have they run this before and haven't gotten over 100 people? Any insight would be great, thanks!

Midweek mini trip report:

Played a 2-hour session of 2/60 last night. There were eleven tables running:
4 2/4
1 3/6
2 2/10 spread
2 2/60 spread
1 4/20 spread
1 20/40

My table had two fish but several solid players.

Thanks Erik,
Mid week is definitely not as good as the weekend.
In my experience Friday night is usually the busiest, followed by Sat night and Sun afternoon especailly during NFL season with the splash pots.

I will be there tonight for Omaha H/L limit tourney.
They had 50 last time so lets get more tonight.
The field was super soft for this last month so if you play O8 at all you have a definite edge over most of these people who play mostly holdem and are trying O8.

Yeah the Omaha tourneys are really soft, I've played in 3 and I've chopped for 1st and got a 11th and 13th. Can't make it tonight, but I probably wouldn't have gone anyways because I like the PLO8 and PLO better.

Was the PLO8 tourney a one-time thing? Only Hi-Lo and PLO this month AFAIK.

40-something for last night's Hi-Lo event. I busted out in 19th place but Porkchop was still in it when I left.

Well the PLO8 has only run once. It was such a disaster for the dealers that I can't seem them running that again for awhile. I really hope they do though because people make so many mistakes it's not even funny, hell I'd really like to see a NLO8 tourney, now that would be SWEET!

I ended up finishing 15th.
I got it all in in a huge 6 way hand with the A224 on a 67K board post-flop.
It turned out I had 20 outs twice for the low but the board ran out 67 so no low.
This is a great tourney though and I will play it offen.

Count me as wanting the PLO8 to come back soon as well.

That's my main reason for skipping the limit O8 tourneys. When you have a big hand like that you get 6 people in the hand, you can't put any pressure on people. I'm hoping(from the history) that the PLO8 tourney is every other month being that it's O8 and PLO this month, but who knows I guess. Good job guys way to represent, it's for sure a very beatable tourney...super soft!

Well I think I'm gonna show up tonight, I should have on jeans and a black backwards baseball hat with a purple brim, gonna try the 2/60 game, and if I do poorly probably grab a 3/6 unless a 6/12 or something similar is going. So if any 2+2er is there say hey.

Played the 10:30am 50 +10+5 tourney today and ended up chopping 6 ways for 570 each. Basically there was a huge stack who gave away alot of EV by doing the deal so I agreed. Again, Ive brought it up before but since everyone is tipping with their entry how much % should you give if you cash ?

When I took first in the non-chopped Friday event a few weeks ago for $1355, I tipped $55 and pocketed $1300 which works out to 4%. No idea whether that's an appropriate amount or not. Not having cashed in a lot of tournaments, I have no idea what's typical. Maybe I was a little on the high side???

Nice win Erik. Just curious what were the blinds at when it got heads up? They were about to to go 10/20k which would have left 5 of us with 3 or less big blinds each and the bigger stack with about 8 but like I said since he was giving up money agreeing to an even chop was a good deal for rest of us.

$55 seems like a nice tip by you alone and whatever the other final tablists left but also they split up everyones 5$ dealer appreciation money as part of the entry so that just confuses me a bit with what you should be tipping if you cash big. Since the whole field is each paying a 5 $ tip whether you cash or not they already make good guaranteed money.

A small TR for my night on Friday.

I cashed a $216 win playing 2/60. At my high point was up ~360. It all came from one guy, who I tilted by making him lay down KK (I had second pair, a J, w/ a A on board). He proceeded to pay me off huge about 2 hands later when I had QQ. I then payed off light to a few players. Overall fun, and though my 2/60 table was somewhat tight, I felt I could take advantage of most players on the table (two new players took fish spots about 10 minutes before I was planning to leave).

I'm drunk so if I mistyped let me know and I will clarify/answer questions if anyone cares.
