Don't recall his name, but the dealers and other regs all know him. I don't think he's a pro; he clearly has a full time job. White, late 30's, business-man type, plays most weekday nights 1/2 at Hippo and Empire, and I think I've seen him at the Vic on weekends as well playing 2/5, if it's the same guy.

By 'winning' reg, I'm guessing, of course. Maybe he's just rich. But he almost always seems to be winning and on a big stack when I see him.

And IMHO he does have two things that I personally think is the biggest difference between small losing players and regular winners - I never see him tilt, and I never see him spew.

You and the button and me as well all have the right to think what we want

We don't want a limp-call range to fold but we want to make it expensive.

I disagree

As for him always winning and having a big stack

First of all he probably buys in deep

Secondly

Variance gonna variance

Which is why we love poker. Would be pretty boring if we all thought the same thing.

I might know him, I probably have played with him, and these overthinking, FPS regs are two a penny. Hands like that are not how you make money in poker, fyi.

*shrug* maybe. Although one guys FPS is another guys creative play. I know I'd much rather have one of the standard nit regs at my table.

Seems absurd. I don't see why he can't have strong hands in his range; people bet size badly all the time.

It seems less that he made an exceptional play and more that he was annoyed that he misbet and therefore decided to do all he could to win the hand. You were there for the wedding; the funeral didn't look so pretty.

Hey guys.
Please help me out.

A few weeks ago I was suspended for Empire casino for transfering from one table to another with less amount of chips in stack(I was warned that its against the rules, but totally forgot about that at the moment) , so the manager told me that I'm not allowed to play in Empire anymore. He gave me an address and told me that I can solve this issue by posting directly to the casino director.

After that, I played in Hippodrome casino for a week and get suspension as well with no explanation, I wrote them an email, they replied that I have to post them as well and pay them 10pounds somehow.

I tried to register in Aspers, but they did not allow me to register because I was suspended from Empire( and they explained exactly for what).

Now I think that I was suspended from Hippodrome because I was suspended from Empire before. Am I right?

Have any of you had the same problem? What should I write in the letter to increase my chances?
Any information will be very useful.

Sorry for my english..

Thanks!

Apparently they swap info and ban people who are banned from the other casino.

If you email them they will probably give you a 3-6 month ban rather than indefinite.

Also I doubt you didn't realise.

I also doubt it was a first offence. I can't see there being any chance of someone getting banned for going south for the first time. There is more to this than is being told.

This has got to be a level (first post).

If not, then the moral of the story would be to stop going-south/rat-holing/cheating.

Have you heard the saying "there's no smoke without fire"? It means that trouble doesn't arise out of nothing and that there must be some other underlying thing that caused the problem in the first place.

I was in the MTT cash-race the other month and a player at the table called another guy a "f-gg-t" after he was called a "dick" for betting out of turn and generally not following the action. A minor scuffle ensued but no biggie. Still, the former player was given a lifelong ban for homophobic behaviour. His reputation for generally annoying other players and winding people up the wrong way did him no favours and must have been a contributory factor to the (outwardly) harsh decision.

Later at The Hippodrome I was on his table in a cash game and he was telling the table how terrible he was treated and how he got a lifetime ban for such a tiny thing. He chose not to recount all the other details.

Although it's a cardinal sin in a poker room - and you were given a warning - it may seem a little harsh to get a lifetime ban for going south / rat-holing if you're new to poker. However, a warning is a warning is a warning - and you were stupid to ignore it. Write the email, be very apologetic, tell them how wonderful you think The Empire is and that you plan to spend many a night in there with friends in the future, ask them to reduce it to a one-month ban and that you'll never do anything so foolish again - and they may welcome you back.

P.S In the meantime you could always play at The Vic. I know a guy who's been banned from The Empire and The Hippodrome but who is still able to play there.

I call bulls*** for getting a ban for ratholing alone and getting it spread to other casinos.

Surely you'd know it's considered unethical by lots of people regardless of specific rules against it?

If you did want to put aside some winnings and carry on playing with a smaller stack then why not just leave and go to another Casino.

Yeah, you're not going to get much sympathy in this thread. I didn't realise that casinos shared this info, I think I approve

Anybody ever come across a Russian (if not Russian, some country in eastern Europe) in aspers who mutters to himself in his own language and is just generally crazy? Good value but the guy needs to chill....

Youngish guy (mid20s-mid30s), tanned, 5'9ish, slim, very short hair, can be a bit friendly but also goes completely nuts from time to time?

Not that young I don't think? But 30s could be a good shout. Not slim but stocky with short blonde hair. He'd go occasions where his attitude was terrible, refusing to stack chips, staring sown dealers, abusing them in his own language. Then all of a sudden he's happy for a few hands then it switches again.
