Surely living in Luton with relatively cheap rent would be the logical choice if you want to play in London. With the added bonus of being able to play in Luton! ;-)

Hope the place is a mansion.
Cambridge has incredibly high property prices in the city centre. That being said, £3k is quite a lot.

The rather large downside would be having to live in Luton though.

St Albans or Harpenden might be worth looking into.

You're 15 minutes away from Central London on the train, 15 minutes from the Luton cardrooms going the other way, and it's where a large deal of London workers live so it's a nice place.

You really don't need to move to London or Cambridge to achieve these goals. Many UK cities will be absolutely fine for live play and stuff to do and won't cost you nearly as much.

Thanks will take a look around at some of these places.

How did you do?

I ended up low 20's, which for the cards I had, was about all I could hope for, being card dead from level 6 to about 16!!!

I was out after an hour in day 2., all in pre KK vs AKs, A on the flop. 100k pot when avg was about 70k. Pretty annoying but nothing you can do so happy with the play. It's a nice tournament, will play more these. I only play Omaha online so this is a nice change once and a while. Lot of recreational players so should do well in the long run.

Also played a bit 1/2 on Saturday after the tournament in the Empire (no Omaha games either Empire or Hippo). It is hilarious how bad the majority of the players were at the table. Had a guy who literally played every hand. Only played for an hour but can see why people play in these games rather than online. It's a shame that the place is such a dungeon though, Aspers, Hippo and Vic are all nicer venues. Also shame that Omaha doesn't run anywhere regularly other than in Vic.

Played the Vic loyalty mtt at the weekend. 80k prize pool, awesome value. Not sure will be able to qualify this month though with work. Also, mtts make me stressed, can't say I enjoyed it despite the value.

Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Brighton to name a few would all be good cities to live in to play poker and do all the other stuff.

yep, did wonder where he went

would like to see/hear more info on this game, im guessing its at least 25/50, but could easily be 100/200 for someone to drop 180k in one night, even if they are a huge punter!

strange as i never heard anyone talk about this game

The best games are the ones you don't really hear about. It's like these supposedly juicy private games (5/10+) that I hear snippets about from time to time.

I have only worked in London for a few months, but I have known about this game for years!

In the current incarnation, it's an invite only private game in Les A. £100/£200 - couldn't tell you the sit down.

They've moved around a few times, though.

You're basically not getting in to it ever, though. Hard enough to get membership in Les A alone!

Roland has been organising this game ever since you stopped hearing about him or seeing him - we must be talking at least five years. (So I remember being told at the Vic years ago).

Most people have probably forgotten about it.

Unfortunately there's not much bigger then 1/1 or 1/2 in the latter three, which is a shame a they're all awesome places to live.

I've known about the game for years and was under the impression some of the older school UK pros hosted the game and controlled it. Be interesting to see what happens out of this.

would you need a Les A membership to play in it, and are there any other similarly sized games you know of going on in LDN ?
