Is it played in the venue? And when/where can we register?
Yes it is played upstairs, NOT in the poker room. You register upstairs also. You might be able to register at the poker room cage but I am not certain of that. Good luck!

I like Terrence and he likes me, but there's no way in hell he is even close to top 25% best dealers.
Half the time he looks and acts like he just saw his dog get hit by an 18 wheeler. And when he is not in a bad mood, he pleasures himself with belittling players in a very sly and coated way...some people don't even notice he is making fun of them and they laugh with him.

Top 10% overall dealers IMO are Asian Jay, Cramer, latonya, MaWG Adam, PD is solid, the new-ish younger black guy Michael (think he is a temp for CPC but he deals WSOPc too at the shoe)...idk, I don't play that much anymore so names aren't that fresh on my mind

Ike in his late 50/early 60s? I'm not sure if there are others..

He's a fun dude, just waiting to retire it seems. He can hold a good convo and still keep the game moving along.

Asian Jay and Cramer are hands down the best dealers at the horseshoe. They take their job seriously, unlike many other dealers that are visibly burnt out and absolutely hate their job.

I haven't been to the Shoe in a while, but that guy always brought a smile to my face.

Planning a trip for 2nd weekend in September. Flying in Fri am, out Sun pm. UGA/ND Football game 6:30pm Sat with a Cubs game either Fri or Sun at 1:20 and as much poker as possible in between.

I have read that the Kennedy area hotels seem to be the better area but would that be the most convenient logistically based on this agenda? Not familiar at all with this area. Would like something on the nicer side and real non-smoking rooms ($150 total per night is fine). Currently have the Courtyard Chicago Southeast/Hammond, IN on Corinne Dr but open to advice. Thanks y’all for your help!

Stay about 10 minutes away near Chesterton/Merrillville Indiana. Exit 259 on I-65 (I think)⁴ has many options in a safe spot. Free parking at the Shoe assuming you'll have wheels.

I've stayed at a hotel at the Calumet exit before with no issues, but that exit looks good too. I like the location as you have multiple options to get to both venues .. and the poker is closest to the hotel to freshen up, or just get to bed.

Don't speed or run a red light on way to casino though ... cops and cameras! It takes a little longer than you'd think to get to poker from the hotel. GL

IIRC it was around 1:30 or 2:00 last year

am i crazy for thinking it's really dumb that they end it so late that I can't even take the shuttle back?

only other time i've missed the last shuttle, they didn't have taxis, and I rode back with some unlicensed "give me money and ill drive you back downtown" guy referred by the taxi stand.

honestly could end up being the reason i don't go. makes no sense to end it that late in a city like hammond.

.

No, you are not crazy at all. In fact, the way it worked last year, daylight savings happened between day 1B and day 2, so everyone lost an hour, and I think if you were staying in Chicago you could only get 6 hours of sleep maximum before day 2 started at 11. Best of luck to everyone navigating that situation this year
