I work at Hollywood Columbus, and they have raped us of our rights, and I am not allowed to play in Ohio. I guess West Virginia and Pittsburgh are my alternatives. I know of home games, but they won't be running when I want to play. Sucks badly!
Google Shark Tank Poker Club.

I also come from Kentucky, so both are similar distances for me too. I would also prefer a separate option just to have a change of scenery from time to time, but Hollywood does not give that at this time.

I was up there for the Pker Open, and rumor has it the poker room is closing. True?

There is nothing official , but a few folks on this forum, who really are connected to what's going on, have heard that it likely is. They may just cut it way back to a few tables, but whatever, the "suits" don't like the empty floor space so something will likely change soon.

Unofficially the tables are to be cut down to 9-10 in a room in the same location. But that's still in planning stage set for 8-9 months down the road. That said, it may be to give dealers some hope for a future poker "room" and possible security.
I've heard it's just PR crap for the dealers and players, also though. But it was stated by a manager at a meeting during the HPO week.

Sadly, at this point it only makes sense to cut the room way down or even eliminate it. Four tables going at the moment, as compared to 30 at Cincy and 24 at Columbus. Prior to those Ohio casinos opening, many of those players would be at L'burg.

I ask because one of the Ohio Hollywood Casino's (Columbus) does not according to this post.
They used to back in their heyday.

Stopped in this weekend on Saturday and Sunday for the first time in a good 6 months or so. Definitely the slowest I have ever seen it by far.

On Saturday, I got there around 2 and they had one 3-6 table and were just opening up a second 1-2 table. The 11:15 tournament was still going and I noticed they had about 45 people in it, so that wasn't as low as I would've expected. I ended up playing the 4:15 tourney and there was about 50 or so in it. By the time I left around 11, I believe there was 3 or 4 1-2 tables, 1 or 2 1-3 tables and then 2 3-6 tables.

Sunday was absolutely dead. I had followed on the Bravo app most of the day and basically all day all they had was one 1-2 table going. I went down around 5 to play a little bit before the 7:15 tournament and it stayed only one table. The tourney only had about 30 people. They finally opened one other 1-2 table but it was only 6 or 7 handed.

IDK for sure, but this seems like it would be hard to maintain economically! Sat and sundays are peak days are they not? Do they still have 19 tables set up? They will likely cut the tables way down or eliminate the room. Keeping it like it is does not seem desirable to the "bean counting" suits IMHO. Damn this was once a WPT event. Things change.

Yeah, there's still 19 tables in the room. I was back there this Saturday and they actually had decent tournouts for the 11:15 and 4:15 tournaments (mid-60s for each). Cash tables got going more in the evening, but still probably only had about 8 or 9 cash tables going.

One thing I noticed is that several of the regular dealers were in the black floor dealer outfits so they must only have a small number scheduled for poker and then if the demand is there, they pull some from the other floor games. That may be making it a little more economical for them.

Check out Hollywood's Poker website. They have several things going on for the month of April and also are rewarding poker players with Tier credit points. Also, during April, May, and June they are doubling the Tier credit points you can earn during this time.

They did have at least 5 tables open Saturday night with a 4-8 HOE game running and a short waiting list on it.

The one thing I like about Lawrenceburg are the low $ buy-in tournaments. Sure they only get 30-50 players, but they are generally pretty soft. Nice way to spend a day off and get some cheap MTT action in.

Yep cheap tournament with a 25-30% rake

Fwiw they never show more than one or 2 tables on Bravo

That 4/8 HOE game is all Horseshoe dealers. It only goes when they feel the urge to come play. About once every 2 week

Hollywood also is going to give $20 cash reward vouchers to the first 20 players with two hours cash play Monday through Thursday

And anyone that plays 20 hours during the calendar month will also earn a $100 tournament voucher.

Not sure of the details but you can win a two year Lexus Lease the first week of August. I believe the more hours you play in July will earn you more entries into the car drawing. They are also going to have cash drawings during the same day they are giving the car away. The floor was giving this information out but nothing is posted yet. I beleive they are waiting for approval but it is going to happen.
