Oh? There's a line of 25 people waiting to sign up when the tournament is supposed to start? Screw them! They should have signed up sooner. Shuffle up and deal.
Agreed. Annoys me too.

How many runners do their weekend normal buy-in tournaments get these days?

It is 7 a.m. on an ugly, rainy, cold Tuesday but there are no games going according to the Bravo.

Sad.

Almost $400K bad beat and room is dark.

Very sad.

I think this makes a clear statement about the value of the Bad Beat Jackpot, we all love the pipedreamm of a life changeing 6 fig. payoff but in reality we respond more to sweets as an instant grat. There are many promo's to be paid off when you have 400k to spend, spread out over High hands and Hot seat or others like that, that will bring me in more than a one time monster that i'll use to pay down my mort or buy a new washer and drier. The days of the glory of the B.B.J. are faiding , all get some or a few get it all ?

But SugarHouse offers none of this and bustles.

People love new toys. Harrah's is no longer a new toy. SugarShack is.

(Look, I was there Monday instead of Harrah's; I get it. But we can't all have decided suddenly that Monday was going to be the day we all went to SH to play - and I saw a ton of Harrah's regulars.)

Maybe there is something to be said for distinguishing poker from the other casino games by not having a BBJ at all. In fact, the term "player funded promotion" is the textbook definition of an oxymoron.

Granted that you gotta be a true degenerate to be playing poker at 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Not that I never do it :-)

I was there a couple of weeks ago playing cash and noticed that there were 125 entries or so, counting rebuys. I have no idea what the payouts were or when it ended.

Usually 120-140 runners. Pool is usually ~3.5-4k with 1st being 1500ish. They tend to chop near the top. Lasts about 6 hours from what I've seen.

136 runners, I went out 20th around 4. The structure isnt awful for a $40 tournament. The jump from 400/800 to 600/1200 is prob the biggest would be nice to have a 500/1000 level.

$40 tournament seems to be pretty strong. 180 entries (120 players maybe) this weekend. $2,100 to first place. Final table all split. With way blinds were vs chips still in play it was a pretty good decision. Even chip leaders would be putting up 30-40% of stack to cover an all in by 'average stacks'. Most players very friendly (as it should be for a $40 game) and of course the mandatory drunk guy whos dumping chips...except this time kid was hitting everything...he called an all in with J5 off after a flop of A high rainbow, no straight possibilities...5 turn, river J...brutal...about 5 hands later he lost it all in same scenario. Unfortunately I didn't get to go at him but then again maybe it was fortunate cause the dude couldn't lose until that fateful hand with about 25 left.
Not sure of players thoughts on the room manager but he seems to be running a pretty smooth room while I have been there. Kudos. Looking forward to making this room a habit.

It was about 6 degrees below zero in there today. At one point the had to move a table because it was too cold. Would have been nice for the floor to tell us the heating system was broken while we froze our asses off

Hello 2+2 Community,

My name is David Slowik, I am the new Poker Manager, and just wanted to introduce myself as the Harrah's Philadelphia Poker Room rep. Still only a couple of weeks into my new position here at Harrah's Philadelphia, but am familiar with this community and am looking forward to answering what questions that I can about the room and providing the Philadelphia 2+2 contingency with the social media attention that it deserves.

Best,

Dave

Welcome Dave,
What promotions/comps are you adding to compete with the other local card rooms in Philly/DE Area?

Well there have only been 2 tweets from your account in the last week. No mention of the qualifying hands that are high hand winners so instead players are required to call the room to see if they won. A simple tweet saying "Tonight 6-10 High hand was a 9 high straight flush" would have been nice.

Your website lists you as The only WSOP room in PA. What qualifies you as a WSOP room. Some stitching in the chairs because it seems to me as if you lost the circuit events to Baltimore.

Due to the limitations associated with my account, I cannot speak about promotions. Please email or call the room for specific promotional details.

That being said, I do very much understand the limitations of our capabilities and have been working tirelessly in my first couple of weeks in developing a more comprehensive approach. Submissions to PGCB have already been done to assist in the betterment of our operation and the services that we offer.

The timeline for these changes in PA are a bit more lengthy compared to what I am used to, but I can assure you that in time this room will be very competitive

Very valid point - I will do my best to better develop the identity of our Poker Room.

Thank you

Glad to help in anyway possible, if you are referring to previous post about blasting every highhand on Twitter every hour, probably not unfortunately.

Its a good way to communicate to your players. but if you think retweeting LA poker tour stuff than good luck.

So they had 20 players for their $50 tournement tonight.

BBJ is up to 594,000 although since harrahs doesn't believe in communication with their players you won't find that on the Twitter account.

There was no food being delivered to the poker room tonight. Must be a union issue because I can't understand why players would flat out be told no.

#cheers
