Since when did dealer start hitting soft 17s here? They said they thought it would bring in more traffic? Whaaat? I saw alot of people at the tables arguing about it with the floor and dealer yesterday... I guess ALL tables changed to it...

As for poker, was very lucky yesterday. Sat down at 1/2... played 2 hours and won close to 600... Had QQ and KK in back to back hands in took down 200+ pots in both hands vs. same guy (an overaggresive internet kid). Also flopped set with QQ like 30 minutes later... Couldn't have asked for anything better in 2 hours...

It changed about 2 weeks ago. The Newport and Stargazer rooms still stand on soft 17.

LOL at getting more traffic. They did it because they figured the average player either wouldn't know or care that it makes the game worse, and that they'd get away with it. IMO.

There are some great guys too. Wish that I could name names
I honestly don't understand the policy the board has of mentioning player and dealer names in a thread like this. What is the possible positive benefits of that rule?

You'll do fine. Good luck.

Yeah... the dealer kind of chuckled up it when he said that. Pretty dumb... obviously i'm gonna go to mohegan instead for blackjack now...

It is 2+2 wide and that's what the owner wants for non-famous people. I won't speak for Rapini, but in LLSNL I wouldn't allow anyway because the internet is notorious for people slandering others.

Take this post from the Mohegan Sun thread.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...postcount=4534

Now image that the poster was allowed to name who he thought was an angleshooter, the dealer and the floor. So even if the people involved are aware of the slam, they have two choices. One, not defend themselves. If they do defend themselves, they have to out their SN. Then it becomes a free for all verbal war which can't be resolved, but will chew up 100's of posts. It will just get uglier and uglier.

While I kind of like the idea of positive feedback to good people, it is 1000% better to actually do it in person. If you really think a dealer is doing a great job, tell them. Give specific examples. Then write to the room manager why you think XYZ is a great dealer giving those examples. You'll do more for that person than writing an anonymous, "XYZ is a great dealer" on this message board.

Apparently its a deep stack so I will be there monday for the 300 and up to meet up with any 2+2ers

I doubt its a double shootout. They're not just going to write DS and have it stand for double shootout without a note somewhere. It looks like it's a deep stack and they just wanted to keep the one line format on the website.

Seems like a good amount of us will be there Monday night, with hotel rooms. Maybe beata can get drunk and post on 2+2 during the meetup

I think 8pm could be a decent meet up time. Don't really care what bar we go to.

Stupid me scheduled a room for Tuesday-Wednesday of next week. I wonder if I feel like playing in that Deepstack Monday and then turning around and driving home (1 hour) if I make it to day 2. I will decide on Saturday as to avoid long lines at registration.

If by some miracle I make it to day 2 I'd prolly be interested in splitting a room

Wasn't too bad today for my first time. Got there around 930AM and a whole new game started because we had 10+ on the waiting list.

Game started out loose and fast, wish I had some knowledge of any of the players there because I missed out on a $400-$500 pot by folding best hand on the turn.

K, 8, 5 with two clubs. Raise preflop, couple callers, and I call with K,Q. Out comes that flop, UTG bets $25, mid position calls, I raise to $60. UTG goes all in for another $150 on top of it. Second guy calls all in. I'm thinking "wow, Aces and someone got a set? two pair? what happened here?" I fold my K, Q. First all in guy shows 9,10 of clubs. Pushing a cold caller and a raiser all in with a 10 high flush draw. Second guy shows K,10. River is crap. I would have taken it all down.

Anyway... after starting with $300, I fluctuated between $225 and $375 almost the entire day. All the fish left, then it turned into essentially a house game between regulars. I should have transferred right there. Instead, I hung around got beat when one of the regs who had built his stack up to over $1K called a big bet on the flop (7,4,2) with 10,8 unsuited and then hit runner runner to suck out my over pair.

7 hours, down $50 total.

Like I said, if I would have transferred to another table, away from the regular grinders and their buddy, buddy home game, I think I could have really done well. Oh well.

I'm assuming that was a $1/$2 table your story was about?

Game selection is important at $1/$2 for sure, though more important at $2/$5

Yea, it was $1/$2.

Great guys, but literally half the table knew each other for some time and I was the new guy. Should have left right there.

I didn't notice it til I was about to leave, but a couple of the crappy players from earlier that got knocked off our table went and sat somewhere else! Should have followed them.

you overplayed your hand on the flop and outleveled yourself later. but it happens. sometimes there's days where one pair is the nuts and other days you can't win with a flush.

I am getting my $10/week through June. No room offers though.

I did get rooms up through last January but then no more. Back in January I assumed that more casino play would bring me more room offers. Wrong!!!

I played about 6 hours of twentyone and slots, lost $750, and got no room offers! Apparently the rooms were made available by the poker room.

I ground it out for the next two sessions, and as soon as I reached plus $755, I quit for the month showing a $5 profit for January . Party On!

I'll be spending more time at Foxwoods now. The other place is still a work in progress after nearly three years.

How much were you betting at blackjack? For the record, the fact that you lost $750 doesn't matter.

I am still getting room offers through June, a bunch of prize offers including a $25 Mobile Gas Card which is pretty sweet, but my point offers seem to end after May.

Is this a sign for the end of poker comps? I hope not

Unfortunately, yes. The place is bleeding money. It doesn't matter how they got into that situation, they're in it now. The new CEO was brought on to help get them back in the black. From a business perspective, it makes sense to begin the cuts on the least profitable group to the casino. Guess who that is?

I expect the weekly points to disappear for any pure poker player and rooms to be concentrated to Mon-Wed, even in the slow periods of time. If you're playing enough, you'll get a black card and feed for free anyway.

If Mohegan Sun closes the Wind Casino and moves poker back to sitting in the middle of some other casino floor, comps are going to get even worse.
