The PLO tourney ended up with 3 tables.... I think it was somewhere around 23-24 total..... big improvement over a few weeeks ago.

I really found the whole tournament very tilting though.... 3 or 4 people at my table taking about 5 minutes to look at there cards not only before the flop, but after the flop, the turn and the river.... how hard is it to either memorize what you have from one look at it pre flop, OR take a 2 second look at the cards. Why play a game that you are not familiar with at all, figuring you have to look at the cards... the board.... your cards... the board.... and the cards again. I found it to be one of the most tilting things ever.

I busted early on a bluff.... some guy calls me down for about 4k total with 10xxx on a board that consisted of KK 10 x x.... with potential straights and flushes on the board..... oh, live players.

Went on to play 2/5, made 300 dollars and left after an hour.

oh, by the way.. this hand happens about 2 weeks ago but never got around to posting it.... is the floor's decision correct?

I'll lay off the strategy and say that I had AA and villain had Kx

He flops top pair and then hits trips on the river.

I bet flop and turn, but check on the river.... he bets 50, and i call figuring that i was getting like 4 to 1.

He says trips.... flips over just the K....

I showed my aces in front of me to show that he sucked out.. but my cards never pass the betting line.

throws his cards toward the dealer... but only showed 1.

Dealer gives me the pot....

Villain's pissed off.... very unexperienced... and gives dealer hard time "I had 3 kings... i win"... dealer said " u only showed one card."

She calls floor over... first floor says i think thats the aces pot, let me get my higher up.

The higher up decides that since he showed the King, its his pot but if he does it again, he won't get another warning.

Did I have a right to be pissed? Besides the obvious fact that he sucked out on me big time.... Would it be angling if I fought it?

I let it go and didn't argue much... but did feel like I probably should have gotten the pot. I still dont know exactly what his 2nd card is so thats bull**** in itself... he said he had k7 and he seemed to b e bad enough that he would play that.

Yes, it would be an angle shot if you tried to get that pot. The guy had the best hand, regardless of his other card.

^^I agree, he won the pot end of story. the fact that you didn't immediately surrender the pot to him is kind of ****ty of you. If you were online, you lose and that's it, so what is the difference? you are essentially trying to cheat him out of the pot.

What do you mean surrender the pot??

I was given the pot, but obviously didnt take the chips and stack them.... I just left them where she put them.

When the floor came, I never said a word.... Didn't argue and wasnt even me that called the floor over, nor did I say anything about him flipping over one word.

I was just wondering whats everyones take on the decision... Everyone at the table thought it should have been my pot since he only showed one card then threw it in the muck. I didn't open my word to say a word about anything the whole time so I find it its very difficult to call me a "cheat".

When it is clear who has the best hand, it is in the interest of the game that that person get the pot. The rules were developed to cover situations such as collusion etc. but are not there to be used against a basically ignorant new player who doesn't know better.

The dealer should not have mucked the card, I see dealers turn over the down card and then explain that both cards must be shown, this happens more often than you may think.

The floor made a fundamentally good decision.

i'm definitely not calling you a cheat, i'm saying that you saw that he had you beat, he knew he had you beat, and he definitely didn't muck. it's also clear he didn't know the rule of showing both cards. so imo you should have said "no the pot goes to him" and let the dealer explain the rule to him. doing anything else (including doing nothing) is the same as trying to cheat him out of the pot. or better put, it's the same as letting him get cheated out of the pot.

I feel that if you take poker seriously and you are an experienced player, you have a responsibility to do the right thing in situations like this.

Cute asian dealer, but she only works maybe two shifts a week, and likes to complain about working during her shift...

the other night I was playing in a 5/10 NL game when a well known reg got into it pretty good w/a floorperson. I've played with this guy more times than I can count, and I've never seen him get fired up about anything. but apparently he was pretty drunk on this night...i didn't even realize it until the hand went down, since he was not drinking at the table and it wasn't affecting his play.

in the hand, the reg was in seat 8, and he made a pot-sized bet on the river...around $300. He was heads up with a young guy in seat 2. the dealer turned to his opponent who said something that i didn't hear, then turned back to the reg and said "he's all in." The reg snap-called and tabled his hand, showing a full house. His opponent hadn't shown his hand right away, but after seeing the full house, he told the dealer that he only called the river bet (he had around $800 or so behind and the reg had him covered).

like i said, he was pretty drunk and he was cursing out the floor guy, but i thought the floor's decision to let it stand as a call was questionable. The dealer went wishy-washy and said he thought the young guy said "all in" but he "couldn't be sure." and no one at the table could say for sure what the kid had said. we were six-handed and most of us were down at the other end in seats 6 to 10.

anyway, i found out through a mutual friend that the reg has been banned indefinitely for this incident. i'm pretty surprised by that, but i guess maybe this floorperson has some pull with security or something. Seems a bit harsh if you ask me.

Unfortunately this is just a bad situation for the reg. Occasionally someone saying i'm CALLING, if they do not emphasize the second word really does sound like i'm ALLIN. It might be a blatant angle from the new guy, but most Foxwoods floor will go on an ego trip if you argue too much and too vociferously you will get your ass banned..

Nah, we could just always use some more players in the player pool for the bigger mixed games

looking for suggestions from FW regs:

what do you think it will take to get a 1/2 or 2/5 PLO hi game going that has action????

it seems almost imposible to get this game going without attracting the regs who want to play h/l as well, most of them are old grumpy nits who buy in short etc.. and it kills any hopes of this game really taking off.

I understand why they like that structure as they like to hang out till they are free rolling 3/4 of a large pot but it just kills the action.

Borgata gets these two games going and they are pretty much always great
any advice???

You will have a better chance of running it at Mohegan. Lately they have been spreading some really amazing 2-5 PLO games there. You will need to pull in some on the 5-10 players. Also you will need to make the max BI $1000 instead of $800. Only way you will get the action players to play.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with the Mohegan suggestion. The past few weeks there has been an interest list every time I've gone. The times it got going it was super juicy and really deep stacked. It played like a 5/10 nl, maybe even higher tbh.

If its an active PLO table with non limping, and re-potting preflop, then it will play much bigger than a comparable 5/10NL game. Especially if you have the right types of players whom will repot with wraps and flush draws.

well yeah but i was just trying to say that there wasn't any grumpy old nits who bought in short when I saw the game run.

PLO at foxwoods almost always sucks. 2/5 is very difficult to get running, and most people will only play H/L which sucks even more. the game is nitty and/or real passive, and when you finally get a pot going, it will most likely chop. people will not lay dow A2xx or A3xx for any amount, so if you run well and the low draws don't hit, then you can clean up. otherwise its a terrible game.

+1

Only times Foxwoods gets good PLO games is WPT time.

I can vouch that the PLO games at Borgata are great in comparison to FW. I hate the o8 h/l nits who will join the omaha high game, then sit down and will debate/refuse to play and kill the game when they join the table unless you agree to play mixed rounds. Nevermind that a lot of them will take a break during the high only round...

I honestly wish there was any easy solution to this, but they join the table knowing that people will cave in every time and cater to their request

The easy solution is to stop caving in...
