Game didn't go off, sat around for a while and BSed for a bit. Ended up in Royal Oak with a few friends and was throwing pitchers back at Gusoline Alley, Royal Oaks shinning beacon of hope. A true dive bar, their jukebox is amazing.

Instead of a Detroit Poker twitter account where someone has to sit there an update it, why not just use hashtags. I'd say #Detroitpoker is fine. You can search for that through twitter. Just my thought.

Yeah. I wouldn't know a hashtag from a hashpipe. But whatever allows some sort of real time broadcast communication within our little community could be pretty cool. I'm certain you know what would work better than I.

This, this, this! By far the greatest bar there, and since the smoking ban, you can actually breath in there. I always appreciated the disgusting graffiti in the bathrooms, such as this gem from above one of the urinals, "For a small dick, look down". The owner of Ye Olde Saloon used to play the PLO8 at BBT quite a bit as well. Oh how she loooooved two pair in that game

Question for those that play (especially charity) tournaments: how often do you agree to letting players x, y and z get their money back at the final table? I'm always pegged as a bad guy but don't think it's ever worth it unless I'm super short.

Never. I say, just play. I do pay the bubble if everyone else agrees.

i'm usually the bad guy in these spots too. many times i've been the one guy that doesn't agree to whatever chop they come up with.
although i will say many times i accept a chop simply because it is so mathematically good for me, regardless of whether or not i think i can beat them. i'm remembering one chop where player x had like 40% of the chips in play, y had 30, i had like 20%, and z had 10%. yet they agreed to chop it evenly 4 ways for a nice chunk of change... no prob.

Usually will vote to pay one more position. That amount is not material to the top three prizes and the money is going to be recycled into future tournaments anyway. Keeps the lesser players coming back. Telling your wife and friends you finished in the money brings them to additional tournaments.

I usually take a different approach when this topic comes up. When people start asking about chops, I start asking about playing winner takes all. Kinda fun imo

i don't mind paying final table or bubble boy just because i know anything can happen. plus it is not like skill is still relevant in tournaments in our area. It also decreases our variance. As far as even chops i won't do it if somebody is super short. Or i have the chip lead i am never chopping 3 or 4 ways with even chops. I had one guy with 2 bbs get irate at me. i was like lol no way i chop until he goes out.

Also if we are somewhat even i don't get petty about the chop. i rather just start grinding cash. it becomes more about those who know their push fold and who gets cards at that point.

I late regged and TID for $270 for #team734.
In terms of our #pointchasinglaundrytokens we are $235 ahead after chop and tips were taken out.

After that, I picked up another C-Note in the cash game.

I might write a trip report, but I am pretty lazy. LOL I was only going to write cliffs, but just kept typing.
Basically was short from the start. Took me almost 3 levels to get above starting stack (first time in 2 tournaments). I ended up button shipping 6BBs with 87 and got called by 85 to get around 120k. I dont remember the blinds, but I think they were 7/14k.

I got to the FT with about 140k, about average. I folded a lot. Raised once with idk what. I rivered a flush out of the BB for about 75k, bringing me to about 200k. Shortly after, I 3bet shove 195k from the button, over a 100k open (15/30k) with AJ and get called for less by QQ and A6, and called by the original raiser for the full amount by 44. I flop an ace, turn a J, and knock out 2 players. Very next hand someone 3bets me to 340k (her all in) and I fist pump it in with the Ace of Win and the Ace of Awesome. In the end, I had a two hand total of +725k. I knocked out the 4th place guy as well but I dont remember how, just that he was pretty short. I knocked out the 3rd place guy 55>A3 AIFP for like 300k where he flops a 3 and I river a set, not that it mattered.

We go HU at 25k/50k, where I have 1.5M (felt like Jose #winning) vs 300k. Guy asked for a chop, and I politely declined. He seemed like a fair fellow, but come on, 5-1? Nah. We get it in shortly thereafter where I turn 2 pair (10 7) to his one pair of 10 (10 6). I scoop and head over to cash after buying my fat ass 2 boxes of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Its for a good cause, right? I get KK QQ JJ and AK in about 10 hands. It was only a 20-100 1/1 game, but whatever, I was just waiting for someone to get off work. I binked a 100 ball and left happy.

Never really had tough spots. I tried to tweet jose something in like 3 tweets but only one when through. Ill just chalk it up to runbad. Play was unbearbly terrible in the midstages. I literally folded or shoved for 2 hours. Its kind of annoying that theres no poker, but I seem to be really good at folding. I'm working on the shoving part. Every pot I entered today, before 3 handed, I raised (and past the 1k/2k level, I flatted a few other times).

So, some bookkeeping for those keeping track of my laundry tokens:
Net Tournament Winnings: $235
Gluttony in the form of GS Cookies: -$7
Cash Game: $100
Net win: $328

Not a great night but whatever. I believe the saying is a win is a win is a win, but I'm young and not too philosophical yet.

Agreed. Usually the amount is less than 5% off the top. Unless someone is unbelievable low, whats the harm? A little bit of equity lost here for the chance to have this guy play again, thinking he can win?

If I'm one of the short stack I won't. I want that extra fold equity. If I'm one of the big stacks I will just to get people to start dumping.

always flatly decline paying bubble. they entered the tournament to play a tournament, and a tournament must have a bubble. why not give final 2 tables their money back?? have a heart!

unless you're lowstacked, obv.

CHARITY BUFFOON LAW #14: If you do not chop, you will be chopped

LAW # 7: Just announce pot odds when you want make a call with two napkins

I've never offered up a chop in my life. I think your missing out on gaining chips from nitty players on the bubble. If the table agrees to a drop down and I'm the ultra shortstack then I find no issue taking the free momey
