Snookers is not being shut down. When these new poker rooms near Snookers get ready to open They throw rumors these rumors out there. They all want Snookers business, and they do anything to get it. They go into Snookers sneak around trying to steal the Dealer's and put flier's in the parking lot. They are all desperate, so they stoop as low as they need to go. If i owned the place i would run their azz's out. But Don is too nice of a guy.

i am not the official spokesman any more, however,,i would like to think i know more than the avg. Joe.

there is no BYE round, whom ever said that. On the website it is specifically stated, 16,32 or 64 players..no more no less. There has been only one other heads- up tourney back in may, all 64 spots were filled(unlike the recent HU tourney at the all mighty, all everything Snookers), and a few late arriving players turned away.

First Place was $3000,,, will be the same this time around, Big Al won the first one, and you can show up,, but your effort will be futile, I will be winning this, i am already registered.

MGM and Greektowns new room I found to be nice in that they're away from busy foot traffic and slot machines. I believe Greektown might even have the nicer room of the three big ones, which is quite impressive considering how ****ty the old place was. If they only moved the cage to insider the room it would be perfect. Motor City while you do have the machines just outside of the room, its still a step up from some places that I've been to where they just plop tables in a roped off area. Plus I like the snack and pop machine right there.

Dealing and floor, I've never had an issue with anyone at Motor City and the floor has its act together. Greektown has been mixed, some really awesome dealers, some disgruntled and some who just don't care. The floor again, no issues at all. I like how all dealers have to wear ear pieces to communicate with the floor and desk. They only run two games 1-2 and 3-6 kill so its not that hard to run, plus I like they're using the players card for comps. MGM my biggest gripe about the place when it first opened was how slow the games were running and being dealt. I can't really comment on how well that place is being run. I also can't stand having that stupid racetrack design table, feels awkward lifting my cards and having stacks of chips on it.

Charity Rooms I won't step foot in another one. Never really felt comfortable with them. I've seen some really awful dealing, I've had dealers deal out the hand and comment on the action, just really poor work. I've seen that at Continental Lanes, Fountain View, and Bennys, which I guess is normal if you deal a home game and see a lot of the same people all the time, I just didn't care for it. Sunnybrook was the only place I sorta enjoyed, but after seeing a lot of roughnecks and hotheads I didn't feel to comfortable there. Had a really bad experience at Snookers with floor rulings, one where the guy who ran the place didn't have the stones to tell a regular to turn over his hand after someone asked to see it after calling his river bet and the reg wanted to muck. Instead the floor guy argued with the other guy for 10 f'n minutes "well you can ask, but its really in poor taste". My final straw with Snookers and Charity Rooms was when I said call to some ones river bet, turned over the nuts, saw the dealer grab my cards thinking he was going to put it by the board to show the other player, but instead mucked it. The only time I've caused a scene in public "I SAID CALL! I TABLED THE ABSOLUTE NUTS" nope pot went to the other player, sorry it got mucked.

I emailed Matt Savage got his opinion that it was a bad ruling and if he was there given the situation he'd do everything possible to retrieve the hand since I tabled it and everyone saw it. I decided, no more charity rooms, just stick with casinos for live action and home games for when I want dealer chatter and slowness. Although I have been tempted to do the deep stack tourney at Northville... I believe a 2+2er runs that, pillsbarry?

Oh yah to finish this rant...my only gripe about Michigan poker. I drove to Motor City today at noon. They had 7 tables going which I think is pretty damn good for a Thursday and they were just starting a 300-2000 game. That is really awesome in one of the worst cities and states job wise. The sad part, they didn't run a 15-30 RxR which is what I wanted to play Limit is dead, long live poo flinging.
Sounds like u just like to bitch about different rooms.

This alcro527 set up a 2+2 account yesterday to make this statement?
Obv Snookers management, right?
If Snookers wants to keep the poker customers they need to adjust the structure a bit. This can be easily done by making 30min blind increases and adding a few levels after blinds 500/1000
600/1200
700/1400
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
3000/6000
4000/8000 etc....
I have been going to Snookers 3 times a week lately to play tournaments and usually stay for the 2pm and 7pm tournaments because its a 40min drive. But if Cada's Room is offering better tournaments (more poker less all-in-fest) then I will take my play to Cada's along with many other players I'm sure.

His complaints are legitimate. Charity dealers are, on average, wayyyy too chatty. Snookers, nvd, sharks, docs, etc.

i was never turned away.Actually Don was very accommodating. He started another heads up tournament. I was one of the 8 players. My friend who can't beat $1 sitngos chopped first for $500 each.

Only one player choose to leave. We had a choice between a 9 man sitngo and a 8 man heads up. Dude left on his own.

by the way i am not entirely on Dons nuts or anything. Josh, Don and Ray have been very fair to me and others. Even tho i didn't like one of their ruling they are consistent.

I read somewhere that Michigan doesn''t allow 2 day events at Charity Rooms. I very well could be incorrect tho. Would be pretty sweet tho.

I think one of the VFW (or something like it) in Oxford use to do a 2 day event a couple times a year. I haven't been out that way lately so not sure if they still do.

That post was what two years ago? I do believe I complemented two of the downtown casinos, but yes I never was a fan of charity rooms. If no one bitches then all poker rooms would take 30-50 percent rake from tournaments. If no one bitched then some rooms like Big Beaver would still be running a 2-5 cash game with a 100 max buyin, and 1-2 with 30 dollar min buyin.

I haven't played much in the past six months, but yes I think players in cash games downtown were better protected then charity. I've seen mucked hand rulings get overturned in charity when a player makes a big enough stink that stops the game. The floor tries to convince the guy who won the pot to split the money which puts the person who won in a crappy spot. Downtown I've seen people try and raise a fuss only to be removed from the game and lose the pot, never once have I seen a floor suggest to give the mucked hand his money back....yes even at Greektown. They might change a rule every 6 hours, but they at least enforce it.

This might have changed in the past year and half or two, I dunno.

With a new room opening that I believe is going to draw in big crowds I am concerned about tournament structures, rake, and payouts and I think are worth bitching about. I would play $100-200 dollar tournaments if I thought they offered more value and skill then a $20 dollar. Really it just adds one or two hours of meaningless poker so your average buffoon feels like they got there moneys worth before turning into your typical $20 tournament. If this new room runs their big money event on Saturday then I can see people busting rolls quickly.

Its worth bitching and talking about, bigger money buyins need to be run different then $20-40.

Yesterday, I had a talk with someone that wants to come to MI and do tournament poker seminars. I was depressed to have to tell him how few good tourneys we have out here. Outside of the monthly Soaring Eagle and HPT, there really isn't any good tourneys to make a living at. The $100 at Snookers on Sundays isn't horrible but 20% juice is really hard to overcome.

Fwiw, I think the whole tournament structure debate at Charity rooms is moot because the economics of it all doesn't make sense to the poker rooms. Find a way to make long tournaments more profitable for poker rooms, and you will get better structures.
