49% of the total rooms would put them in the neighborhood of 70-80% occupancy on the rooms they're currently operating (somewhere around 2,200 out of 3,700 total), which would be in line with their competitors and make a lot of sense.

IIRC, number of hotel rooms is a (the?) factor that determines allowable gaming area. Reducing the number of rooms they report might mean shutting down casino space to compensate, and they'd rather report low occupancy.

Force Borgata to change the 2-5NLH game back to $5 per half hour time. Dont play it. Supreme Poker Leader has spoken.

Good Luck with that when they offer the only 2 5 NL in AC

Feeling nostalgic as I just brought my son to AC for the first time since he was a baby (for reference we stayed at the Revel that trip).
I showed him where the Trop and Taj poker rooms were. Showed him where I first railed live poker at Resorts. Now we are spending 2 nights at the Borgata.

@Stan, do you think we can get a live game report for old times sake?

He left years ago. Those sure were the best days at the Borgata.

Yeah, I know it was just a goof. I do agree though that even though I liked Pete before him, those Stan years were the best Borgata years. They really took care of poker players and the room filled up because of it

Borgata just announced a sports betting promo involving picking most NFL games every week. The object is to pick more winners than Borgata’s sports book (point spreads don’t matter). The winners from each week will split $15,000 slot dollars. They will also be entered in an end of year drawing of which the grand prize is a trip to Vegas for the Super Bowl, and the lesser 49 prizes range from a $200 online free bet to some yada yada yada worth $2500. You can enter every week for a share of the $15K slot dollars, but I think you only qualify once for the end of year drawing.

You enter via the sports betting kiosks throughout the casino, and there’s one inside the poker room and several just outside. So it’s similar to their other casino promos as you have to be physically in the casino to enter. The email they sent me included their picks, so it will be easy to qualify for the end of year drawing, as you can duplicate all their picks and concentrate on one game where you think they picked wrong. All the picks for the first week were the favorites (go figure) except one. That one game is Washington, who is a small home team underdog whose line moved from +2 to +1 since the lines first opened--and Washington may very well be the favorite by game time in two weeks. I suspect that will be their formula for the season, except they won’t have two weeks to anticipate the line moving a team from dog to favorite--not that it matters, since they’re publishing their picks.

I would expect thousands of winners most weeks if the participants realize they should pick mostly the same way as the sports book. But of course, many won’t. So the best someone could hope for is maybe somewhere between $5-$15 slot dollars per week, which isn’t worth a trip to the casino. Some weeks when the small dogs all lose and one big dog wins might result in a lot fewer winners and one might win a win upwards of $100 slot dollars. Many of us will find ourselves there at least a few times during the season, so some might want to make an entry while waiting for a seat, etc.

The strategy for making a pick is to find the one game where you think it’s more likely than not the underdog will overcome the odds and win the game, or if not, the one game with the most likely chance of it happening even if it’s less than 50% (usually that will be a small underdog or pick-em game). If you feel strongly that there are three underdogs that will do this, they you should pick all three of those games--you only have to be right two out of three times to win and that is more likely than picking just one if your estimation is correct. Don’t pick two or four picks different than the sports book, you have much better odds picking one or three, respectively. Three picks different than the book is better than one (if you find three games where the underdog should be the favorite), and both are better than two or four. The vast majority of participants should pick exactly one game differently than the book. It’s hard to find three dogs that should be favorites.

Top contenders for the first week based on current spreads (BetMGM) are (home teams in bold): Chargers (-1), Colts (+2.5), Giants (+2.5), Saints (+3), Texans (+3) and Bengals (+3.5).

This is much worse than in previous years, where if you picked the most games, you would share like $10,000 or something like that. One week the final team I picked (the Eagles) lost by three points on a Monday Night game, and I would have had a share of it...

How’s the 24 hour high hand thing working out so far? Anybody catch it 3am style?

I haven't hit one yet, but it's nice to know that I at least have a shot at it instead of paying rake for nothing.

How are the 2/5 games? Can anyone drop an in depth synopsis? Not really sure what that word means but lets get it.

I don’t go too too much, but been going there enough to know it’s mostly a batch of regulars who are mostly grinders mixed in with some people who play crazy. That’s on the weekdays. Maybe later in the day and weekends there will be more randoms. That’s what I’ve noticed, but haven’t been there enough to know for certain and I still enjoy playing

I was just told by the womThey en at the desk that tournaments are coming back 2 days a week.

They will be Wednesdays and Fridays to start and all info will be in the Bravo app by tomorrow night.

Also, late entries and rebuys will end after just 4 levels.

My experience has historically been similar to this. And I don’t find the games that enjoyable. Some implicit collusion between regulars, dealers being a bit too friendly to regulars, floor preference for regulars. But games on weekends are diluted enough by us recreational that they can be okay.

Oh on weekends that **** usually don’t fly, but weekdays it’s blatantly obvious. Everybody knows everybody. I’ve been enough where I even know these people names now lol.

It’s mildy annoying when then regulars decide to seat themselves or just jump over to a different table without asking floor. But in my experience the floor frequently yells at them and has not shown any favoritism when I was there.

What kind of implicit collusion did you see?

There’s guys that do it with a passion, along with doubling up once, then going on a 45 minute bathroom break coming back and racking up within 5 minutes

Borgata 2/5 on the weekday is not so much tough as it is just plain boring. There are 2/3 tables full of regulars who played against each other every day. Some of them played against each other in the mid-80s at the Taj, they know each other for decades. They know each other's betting pattern, know the playing style at that particular time of the day. So naturally, "tourists" are at a bit of a disadvantage since they have to make decisions based on what they see during this particular session and this particular hand but reg have considerably more information based on years of knowing the opponent. With that being said i am very curious to hear what other people think is happening there that could be interpreted as implicit collusion.

I am guessing we played at the same table once or twice

There’s a decent chance. I’ve done a few 30+ hour non stop sessions here.
