so the 10/20 O8 game is basically dead because of the added comps to 4/8. Now that is nitty.

To be fair, it also got people like myself who think O8 is a lot of fun, but are nowhere near good enough to play 10/20 to log some hours in the game. 10/20 tried to start Tuesday, but by the time they called the game at 9 PM, the list was mostly people who had been there earlier. (I think 3 of 10 on the list showed up?)

I have never played the 4/8 only 10/20. I can't imagine the skill level being drastically different as I always thought the 10/20 was fairly weak.

Maybe not, but when playing a game you're not great at, 10/20 can get very expensive

I see that in October the featured game will be 6-12 limit with 2x comps. What does 6-12 pay per hour? I would imagine that 3-6 is $1.50 so, 6-12 would be more, no? Anyone know for sure. Seems like it might be a fun game.

It's a stretch to say that it is due to the $3 per hour comp promotion for the $4/8 game. That's just one factor. The $4/8 game is raked; the 10/20 pays time and some don't like that. The weaker players lose less per hour at $4/8 so they get more play on their budget. $4/8 is in the main room and some like that better than playing in back. The $4/8 game plays looser and somewhat friendlier even though it's a lost of the same players.

$4/8 is less appealing to me than $10/20 but I understand why many of the players prefer it.

So not only is 6/12LHE the featured game in October there is also a high hand payout of $250 an hour on Mondays and Thursdays in October along with the standard bonus comps for hours played. In a struggling market the best poker room in town(and the East coast IMHO) continues to treat it's player base well even though it doesn't have to.

Wow this is awesome. They really need $2 chips though

Their competition isn't in AC... It's Parx and to a lesser extent Maryland Live. Soon it'll include Sugar House too... They aren't doing these promos out of the goodness of their heart. The Borgata is still a well run room but Parx and MDL are better run in my opinion. I mainly play at the Borg for what it's worth, primarily due to the comped rooms.

I agree with much of what you say. I think the B is enlightened enough to think "hey we got a good thing here, let's make sure we do what we have to do to make sure we stay on top" where as the attitude of most other casinos (PA Sands being the most obvious example) is "let's make every single penny we can today, and not give a hoot about tomorrow". They seem to have forgotten about the lesson of The Ant and the Grasshopper".

PARX is their biggest competition, haven't been to Maryland but most people come to the Borgata from New York and Pennsylvania and of course New Jersey. If PARX went under for some reason, Borgata would boom until some other poker room as good opened up in PA or north or central Jersey. Still the best room on the East coast.

BTW, think they would all be hopping if we weren't still (after 6 yrs) in a recession.

This is the lesson AC (in general) failed to learn. They did not reinvest into the community as they should have. When they finally started to do so it was/is now too late.

Back to poker, I would like to play some plo, 7 card, razz etc. I know how to play them, I just don't how to play others, if you know what I mean, would be nice if the B would have some cheap cheap tournaments , like $50 or so, so people like me can learn the games without going broke to learn them.

Sad to see that all of my comp offers have vanished.

After playing 1.5 weeks of tourneys during Sept and a few cash sessions, I saw my room offers greatly improve. I was getting 2 comp nights in a row for the first time in a while, plus I was getting Fri and some Sat. This was just 2/5 play (no table games) and a bunch of tourneys which I thought were pretty much a non factor.

I checked back more recently like a week or so ago and it was still giving me Sun-Thu and 2 nights a week comps, but weekends had gotten pricey.

Now I checked and there are no comp offers at all. Glad I booked a few when I did.

By the way, I'm not stating these facts to complain at all. I'm merely contributing it because I know that I like when I come to this thread and see other people's data on comp room offers so that I can see what's up.

How many are a few? There's a limit on how many comped rooms you can book at once, and when you do, everything else will show up at the rate you get. I am pretty sure this number is 10, sometimes it looks like 8. For example, if you get a room Friday and Saturday night and check out Sunday, you won't get those two back until Sunday evening or Monday, so it'll look like you're maxed at 8.

FYI I moved the recent off-topic discussion about the city generally, affect of sportsbooks, etc., to the AC General Discussion thread here:

Please send me a PM or post in the Moderation Discussion Thread if you have any questions/comments. Thank you.

Oh - you know what you're right. I had heard of this, but have never had it affect me before. I do have 10 comped rooms booked currently.

Thanks for the insight!

+1 I had the same problem, as well like you said depending on your status, you can book 8 or 10 comped nights, once you book that many, comp rooms disappear until you check out of the comped room

Good luck with that. That being said, I would show up, even if it's just the 2 of us HU.
