For me Bravo would be a real plus - I have a long drive up from Tucson so it would be real nice to see whether the games I want to play are running or a least have a plausible list before making the drive.

Yet again the optimal solution is to not live in Tucson. Pretty much answers any question regarding Tucson.

Well from a poker standpoint you are absolutely right. But my wife likes it here a lot better than Phoenix. And from a climate standpoint at least so do I.

Huh? I thought it was supposed to be even hotter in Tucson, if that is actually possible. I could be misinformed though.

reverse - Phoenix hotter by about 5-10 degrees during the really hot months. And where my house is we are usually a few degrees cooler than the official Tucson reading.

Call them hosts thats a joke. The one i played with was very rude, he just sits there looking at his internet. I am talking full time on internet. I find it just the opposite of a host, makes me not want to play there if house is paying him to play on internet. I expected some high limit player to jump in an defend this rude individual. There is a tight group that stick together and run the game and dealers.

There are only two hosts (i think), they are both nice people, who cares if they get paid.

You can only be talking about one person who I happen to be friendly with and I will flat out say that he's never been rude to anybody in my presence, not anybody. TBH, I don't think he has it in him unless he's right about something that someone else is giving him grief over. And even then it'd only be a bark, no bite.

As everyone has pointed out there are no props at CAZ, hosts just have to play 35 hours a week, the room doesn't tell them where to play.

If they didn't start a 8 handed 20 it may be because

a) it would break another game because most of that list was in other games.
b) the list was old and some of players no longer there. some players won't start short handed as well.
c) they didn't have a free dealer.
d) etc

they want to start games, when they don't usually there is a good reason.

Up in the foothills it can be nearly tolerable.

Yep, it is actually pretty nice - it's a rare day when it's too hot to walk in Sabino recreation area, a short distance from us, and those days (mostly in June) it's not far to the mountains. Plus the overall spirit of the community and the politics in Tucson are more similar to our roots in New Mexico. Too much concrete and too many red necks in Phoenix (we looked at it when deciding to move back west) Just did not realize there were no real poker games here - when we were thinking of leaving DC they were firing up the Arizona Poker Player's Association, and there was a place on Cambell running 5-10 NL. It's now an adult bookstore

Didn't they have a $2 jackpot drop? Have they at least lowered the jackpot drop?

So it's $250 every 15 min to 1 person in the room right? So if there are 250 people playing jackpot games (there are certainly more than that currently playing as every table is full) the promo is worth $1 every 15 mins, or $4 an hour.

This is nothing special, many promotions around town are worth more. Even the talking stick football promotions are worth more per hour.

What is the big draw? Or am I misunderstanding how this promo works?

These people don't do math! The 'big draw' is a $250 Hi Hand payout every fifteen minutes!

And another ! for effect.

I believe the $250 is raised in the last two hours, i.e. twice more if you really drive fast.

Do you know their average payout of a football pool per hour?

100 possible number combos. 4 tries at 300, 4 tries at 100, then bonus tickets of 100, 200 and 300. So 2200 possible win times 1/100 is $22. Divided by let's say 3.5 hours for average football game is $6.28 an hour.

BTW, I sometimes get Fri afternoons to play so I showed up yesterday and had to wait a long time to get a seat, almost just left instead. From now on I'm going to keep track of when they do this so I can stay away unless I can get there early.

What's a "long time"?

RE: promotion, some people are probably thinking "Dammit, I paid for that. I'm sure as hell going to show up and try to get it back".

Just relocated once settled in ill be making a few trips here.

Read thru quite a bit of this thread and one thing I am worried about is that I don't have very much live experience and seems like many players can get pretty upset with newer players is this a valid concern?

Not sure why you would think this. Mostly it's nice seeing new faces in the room, if you are nice I think you will find that most people will be very nice in return.
