Played yesterday, but quit after 2hrs. Harley Quinn never showed up, Fat Cat left after an hr, and Mr C only bought in once and left after he busted. I was already kind of tired and didn't feel like thinking, so decided to go home early. Won $150.

Can't wait to get back to the V and get in the games again. Hopefully I can do as well as I did this summer.

Just booked the first 3 nights for my trip. I'll be staying at Harrah's so it'll be a quick walk over to the V. Just gotta figure out where to stay for the next 2 weeks after that. Me and Kydd will be rolling together for the bulk of the month. But he doesn't get in until the 5th. Hopefully I'll still be in the $400 and will just be playing that until he gets in.

Thinking about going down to Napa Valley tomorrow night, but not sure. Kind of want to just stay home.

I've been tossing around the idea of getting a job as a prop. It pays $20/hr under the table. For the most part it'd be 4/8 limit and 4/8 O8 games. Since the action around here is limited and inconsistent I figured it might not be bad to fill in the void of just waiting for games to appear since nothing is happening during the day anyways. I wouldn't be able to start until I get back from Vegas anyways so I guess we'll see. Because it'll be a moot point anyways if I'm busto.

is their a minimum amount of hours per week you have to work as a prop?

I was considering trying it out but i don't wanna work a full time job and im not sure if thats what it is

It depends as it varies from place to place. This place I'm trying to get in, is fairly flexible. They don't care that much about a minimum amount of hours as long as it is consistent from week to week. If I do it I'll probably do it full time since I'm not doing anything else. I'll just prop from 9-5 and then play the 2/5/10 when it goes on Tue and Wed evenings.

Then my weekends will be free and I won't have to worry about driving or traveling to get in a decent game.

I hear it's a tough gig to get in Socal though, but just ask and they'll tell you the deal. But it wouldn't be an attractive proposition for me if I lived down there because there is a good game available every day of the week at any time. The downside of propping is obv you are always stuck in the crappiest games and when it gets good you're out.

But that's not an issue for me here since all games are crappy except the couple that go twice a week. So I'd rather just sit and collect an hourly without having to travel and make the same as I could make in some 2-5 game w/ 0 variance.

I heard that prop jobs are pretty terrible for those reasons but if im not in a game i guess i still collect an hourly which seems pretty nice. The hourly could be like minimum wage but im not sure

Ill ask next time i go tho

Yeah I definitely wouldn't do it for minimum wage. The current one I'm looking at which is $20/hr under the table is pretty much the minimum I would do it for and even then it's only because of the location I'm in.

Basically its a player the casino pays to fill up games. It is mostly for limit games but some casinos have no limit props too

In 4 days I'll be in Vegas. This'll be my last big push before the end of the year. Really want to make some progress as October has been a losing month for me thus far. I'm down $1300. If the local 2/5/10 game ran more than once or twice a week, that number'd be a lot different, but running like crap this month hasn't been good.

I'll arrive Thu afternoon and will be headed to the V to grind either 2/5 or 5/10. Then the next day will the first event in my package which is a $600.

Monday evening I'll be headed down to the Bay area. I think i'll stop by either Bay 101 or the new M8trix casino to play some cash. Either 2/3/5 or 5/5/10.

Thanks Flip always appreciate the support. Celebrated my birthday this weekend. It's actually tomorrow. My girl got me Kindle Fire HD. Pretty cool. Not as good as our iPad, but it's smaller and convenient if you like Amazon and the screen is really nice so great for watching movies. I'll be watching all my Netflix on there while I'm in Vegas. I'm not a big fan of having distractions at the table, but once I'm well into a session with good reads on everyone and the flow of the game, I like something to give my mind a rest when I'm playing a really long session.

Someone in San Francisco won the lottery yesterday. I only matched 2 numbers. I fantasize about winning a large sum of money constantly. Hopefully someday it'll happen. Until then I will continue to shotgun my BR at the wall and see what sticks.

Went to Casino M8trix in San Jose for the first time last night. Met up with a friend to grind a little. He only had 1 buy in to play 1/2/3 and went bust in 2hrs so my session wasn't very long.

The casino is pretty nice and I like it because it's spread out and not cramped at all. It seems they made the place more for tourists and people who play the table games and poker is kind of an afterthought. There were only 7 tables going for poker. There were 3 1/2/3, 3 2/3/5, and a 10/25 game. I played the 2/3/5 for an hour and they called my name for the 10/25.

I lost $28 in 2/3/5. The game was super soft. But there was only 1 guy who bought in for $500. The rest of the stacks were $200-$300. The players were all pretty bad with a couple that had some comically obvious live tells. Like this one young black guy who would flop huge and then sigh, shake his head in "disappointment" then bet lol. He also tipped $5 every hand he won. Even if he just raised and took down the blinds.

I was told the 10/25 game runs 3 or 4 times a week. It also was a pretty soft game. There were 2 solid players, one nit, one fish, and three guys kind of in between, but more on the fishy side. Wish I lived closer, because I definitely wouldn't mind being able to grind this game regularly. Stacks were not that deep. With the exception of the best player at the table who had about $10k, everyone else had between, $2k-$3k. I sat with $3k.

There was one guy who played good hands and was tight, but had a fishy and transparent PF game. He was opening for 150-175 with hands like KQs, TT, JJ, QQ, AQ, AK. But when he had AA or KK he made it 100. He also played very face up post flop.

I recognized 4 guys. I played with before over the summer in Vegas. Didn't really have many hands since I only played for an hour before my friend busted and had to leave. Only had 1 hand go to showdown.

Effective stacks about $2800. Villain is white guy about 28. Seems to be one of the competent players at the table.

Pf: villain opens to 75 in MP, hero calls on button with K5

Flop(180): K 4 6
Villain bets 150, hero calls

Turn(530): 7
Villain bets 350, hero calls

River(1230): 9
Villain checks, hero checks

Villain shows down T T

Won $540 at the end of the hour and left.

Had my last session last night before I fly out to Vegas tomorrow. It was the weekly 2/5/10 game at the local cardroom. I'm very thankful that this game runs as it is probably the best game I've played in since the summer. They're trying to get it to run a little more frequently. Hopefully that'll happen.

Played 8.7hrs and made $3192. Feels good to be able to turn a profit in October after running bad for a few weeks.

So far I'm making $107/hr in that local game but only over 87hrs of play. I hope to get many more.

Last nights lineup was the ideal one. Had Mr. C, Harley Quinn, Special K(who ended up being on a heater and winning a bunch), and Fat Cat who has regressed into by far the worst player in the game.

Had a sort of Bizarre hand with Mr. C where he misread his hand.

Mr. C has about $1k and I cover.

PF: One limper, Fat cat calls on button, sb calls, Hero makes it 60 w/ AQ in bb, Mr C calls from straddle, limper folds, Fat Cat calls, and sb folds.

Flop(195): J 8 5
Hero bets 75, Mr C calls, Fat Cat calls

Turn(420): 7
Hero checks, Mr C bets 150, Fat Cat Calls, Hero calls

River(870): Q
Hero bets 200, Mr C calls while saying, "This is a bad call", Fat Cat moans and groans like he does every single hand he plays claiming he has Kings and mucks. Yeah right lol.

I table my hand and Mr C flips up. K 9

I was only able to sell 15% of my package. One guy who had reserved 5% backed out. Oh well, like Kydd says just more for me when I bink one.

So payment has been received from the two investors Gutter and E-man.

Gutter has 10% and E-man has 5%.

I'll be posting any swaps I do with Kydd so everyone stays informed. I have a twitter, but don't use it and only have 2 followers anyways. I prefer to use this thread to update everything. So I'll keep all updates here as I've done in the past.

First event is $600 this Friday at noon. GL to us!

I was wondering how you think games in LA compare to the games LV. I, personally think the 1/2 and 1/3 games are a little tougher in LV but i have only played the 2/5 in LV once so i don't really have an idea of how much softer/tougher they are

For instance, do you think the 2/5 games at Venetian, Aria, Bellagio are equivalent to the 5/5 level in LA or maybe higher/lower?

Anyways, Good luck!! Hope you ship a couple tournies

1/2-1/3 soft everywhere. Every limit above that softer in LA.

At the lower limits like 1/2, CA and Las Vegas are very different. The 2 main factors that cause them to be different are the buy in structures and the rake.

In CA 1/2 is not even a very common game. At the lower limits for NL you usually find things like 1-1, or 2/3 unless you are at an Indian Casino which tend to follow a more Vegas like format.

And the buy ins at these games like 2/3 are usually $100. Whereas in Vegas 1/2 is the most common and buy ins are usually $200 or $300. So game play in Vegas is much deeper and the rake is a lot less.

When you have these conditions I think you generally find the action to be a bit tighter as people are a little more cautious with deeper stacks. Also since the rake is lower there is not as much urgency to get the chips in play.

That's why you find these shovefests in Cali and the players are generally worse since all their decisions are so simple. So when you take someone who already doesn't have a clue what they're doing when their decisions are basically limited to PF and Flop play. Get them on a heater and all of a sudden they are 200bb deep. It is no surprise when you see fish go on a run and then just punt their stack off.

I'd say at the lower limits Cali is definitely way softer than games in Vegas. Not that the Vegas 1/2 games are tough. But the action is for sure way tighter.

For 2/5 at Venetian I'd say generally it probably plays very similar to the 5-5 at the Hustler or the Bike.

5/10 is a much bigger game in Vegas than it is in Cali as it is a time game, uncapped, cash plays and they play w/ $10 chips as opposed to Cali where only chips play, and it's usually $500-$1k or $500-$1500 buy in and they play w/ $5 chips, and they drop $6 when a flop is seen.

5/10 is a tougher game in Vegas. Cali I would say it is the equivalent of Vegas 2/5. I don't find much difference in game play between the Cali 5-5 games and their 5/10 games.

I think I made a mistake last session. I was really annoyed with Fat Cat as he has a habit of slowrolling every hand, and he just takes so long every single time he's in a hand. And he ALWAYS has a super big hand. He always has AA or KK and is making a huge laydown. You know those guys. Or whatever is on the board he always has basically the second nuts.

He slowrolls this guy at the table pretty badly. Here's the hand.
Effective about $1500.

Fat Cat makes it a live 40. Kid limps UTG w/ KK since it's super likely Fat Cat is raising. A couple limp behind, and Fat Cat raises to 120, Kid makes it 390, Fat Cat hollywoods for awhile and then shoves. Kid goes into the tank for a couple minutes, almost folds and finally calls.

Board rolls out: T T 7 J 3.
Fat Cat says, "I missed I got nothing, Ace high you're good."
Kid kind of relieved tables his Kings and then just as the pot is about to be pushed to him, Fat Cat rolls over two Aces.
To his credit, Kid does not even react at all and just says nice hand.

From that moment on everytime I won a pot off of Fat Cat(which was often) I'd slowroll him and needle him every chance I got.
He hates me now, which I don't think is a good thing for a fish to hate you. idk, I just hate guys like him. He complains non-stop the entire time he is at the table too. But he's the biggest donator by far so we all put up with it.

Thanks or your advice in the games spyu

When it comes to dealing with fish it's a real fine line. It depends on the player because sometimes they like it when you slow roll them and downplay the formal casino atmosphere. Others however take it as a personal attack when you do things like that

While its never good to have a fish "hate" you I'm sure know how to handle a player who feels that way

I assure you their are people who enjoy it because it makes them feel like its a much more casual game. They don't look at slow rolling as an insult or against etiquette they are just having a good time and think its funny and entertaining when they do slow roll someone

Will arrive in Vegas in 6hrs. Just woke up and have to pack. Had a nice relaxing day yesterday. Went to a little kid's Halloween thing with my daughter.

Then handed out candy for about an hour when we got home.

Played in one of the Merge Freerolls with 3k entrants and 30 get paid, I busted 33 lol. AQo<TT. Damn I should've just waited so I could've at least got my .35

This is an old hand from a few years ago, but thinking back was kind of interesting.

5/10NL at the V
Hero covers the table w/ about $12k. NY Right Ear Joe has about $10k as usual and the rest of the table has between $1k-$3k.

Villain in the hand is a newer white young guy that sat down at the table just a few orbits ago. Before he sat down Joe tipped me off that he was good action and capable of anything. He had about $3k.

Hero is dealt 47 on button.

PF: Joe limps UTG, Guy raises to 40, Villain 3 bets to 120, Hero calls, Joe folds, Guy calls.

Flop(305): Q 5 3
check, Villain bets 180, Hero calls, fold.

Turn(665): J
Villain checks, Hero bets 280, villain calls

River(1225): 7
Villain checks, Hero bets 400, Villain pauses for a bit then makes it 1400, Hero calls.

Villain tables 68

Yeah pretty safe assumption w/ my name and my choice of Avatar lol.

I'm going to try and track my expenses for this trip to see how much I end up spending and on what. So far, Cab ride from airport to hotel was $20($17.50+tip).

Just landed and have checked into my room at Harrah's. I'd have to say that this is probably the ideal place to stay if you're a grinder and like playing at the V.

I'm staying for free so far, but I looked up some deals and right now it's $30/nt. The front desk is right next to the elevators to your room and also close to the entrance. Which when you walk out the entrance it's like 100m to the parking lot elevators taking you to the V's casino floor. Very very convenient.
Room is nice and clean as well. This is my first time here and I wish I would've known that it was a decent place before as I would've just stayed here all summer instead of bouncing around from place to place.

Well gonna walk over now to check out the cash games and get some food as well.
