They could be around because there are people, but its equally possible they are the people who were from the city or even the survivors who remember going there from their life but not really knowing why who got overpowered at some point.

It was not ******ed in this because we didn't see it. That's how it needs to be played. It happened. How? Why? Doesn't matter. Just like it doesn't matter why the zombies exist, better off to never explain it and deal with the consequences.

The real reason the military always loses to the zombies is that it would be a ****** show if the dude woke up from a coma and somebody was like, "dude you missed a ****ing zombie outbreak it was crazy. The National Guard got some light armor and air support up here and there was this huge firefight where they killed like 9,000 zombies. Remind me to send you some Youtube links of gun camera footage of zombies getting disintegrated. Anyway, see you at the office, bro."
lol brilliant. My thoughts exactly, and yeah, it doesn't really matter how the army lost, THEY JUST DID.

Of course, Gen "Sherman" could be a state over mobilizing an army of over whelming force ready to burn another path to the Atlantic.

I liked the pilot. I've got several minor nits that I'll keep to myself but I loved most of this and think it's set up to possibly get great.

I wish a zombie film/show would show the outbreak from patient zero onwards.

A scene in busy metropolitan area/subway etc at rush hour starting with one infected and then spreading out in waves from there. An airplane landing and all the passengers spill out as zombies etc etc.

Instead of having the story start at zombie Armageddon show the break down of life as we know it, which would still happen imo even if the army steps in at some point and cleans up, by then significant damage would have been done, especially in busy metropolitan areas and again even more so if we are talking 28 day later bite = insta zombie that runs.

There would be massive collateral damage from a small but significant % of the population being turned into flesh eating maniacs, and if the cause of the disease was unknown and kept re appearing then life as we know it would be over.

For me an original take on the zombie issue would be to take a story arc from outbreak, show the spread of infection, panic, societal breakdown, humanity regroups beats zombies, humanity hunkers down in post outbreak world were new outbreaks/events are ever present.

meh zombies are almost incidental in a good zombie story imo. it's a way to show how humans react after society breaks down and humans should always be the ultimate antagonist.

Didn't like it as much as everyone seemed to on here.. I thought it was quite boring. Gonna stick with it though, I'm usually pretty harsh on the pilots of some shows.

Yea and I would be quite interested to see how humans react as society breaks down, with some awesome zombie scenes thrown in.

Most if not all zombie films go from society fine to society ****ed in one frame.

I've long had a dream of becoming incredibly wealthy and bankrolling a zombie movie that treats it like a disaster film. Like you know in Armageddon or The Day After Tomorrow you've always got like different unconnected plotlines at different levels of the disaster that eventually tie in together? That'd be tight.

However, I think that only appeals to fringe zombie haters. Some of the psychological element that makes zombies in these scary is that they are everywhere and they never stop, there's a claustrophobic thing that really clicks with the audience.

I have a hard time thinking up a plausible plot that has a slow build to zombie apocalypse and doesn't end with all the zombies rounded up and nuked and the show's over. Anything that isn't like "boom, zombie world overnight" seems too solvable.

The reason zombies took over in the first place is because it was a supernatural thing based around a meteor hitting the atmosphere (iirc), so the recently dead rose around the world and then started infecting people. When basically everything is instantly infected it is game over.

The over point of view is the 28 days scenario where it was an infection that took over quickly, but was contained within Britain itself. If the infection only spreads from person to person and has no incubation period then the actual spread should be fairly low and easily containable.

I think Resident Evil is the only example where it wasnt supernatural and wasnt contained, however they almost managed it in the second film by going nuclear.

Personally id change the properties so it is airborne and everyone who dies becomes a zed and the biting stuff isnt directly related which is like the original supernatural form only with a modern twist. Basically your opening scene could be a lab geek talking about how they are finding it in everyone and that the infection is entirely symptomless and dormant until the person dies. The zeds then move on to try and kill others so you get the changeover, but it lets the infection spread really quickly so the containment is basically impossible.

You can show people containing the undead, you can show adverts where people who find a corpse are told to shoot it in the head to make sure it wont turn and you can slow burn the changeover as they start to lose control on stopping the people from changing whilst also ignoring the ability to just round people up and nuke them. When you cold open where 10% are infected and without knowing it those infected are constantly infecting others you can get the best of both worlds.

Very good starter, although a couple of facile plot turns (wife having hooked up with partner couldn't have been more obvious from the moment he woke up in the hospital);

Also would have been nice to know a couple of things (e.g. how long was he in hospital?); there was a lot of "Lost"ities not asking obvious questions type stuff.

Nonetheless, the action was good and the episode was very entertaining.

funny, how I liked the movie I am Legend, and this completely raped it.
i like the prospects of the nerdy guy contacting the hero.
