in retrospect, depending on how they do seasons 2/3/4 this could be pretty cool. I have some serious doubts though, and I wouldn't want it beyond a 6/7 show season each. Otherwise this shows runs the risk of us being desensitized to the zombies.

Someone explain to me how the military always loses to the zombies?

Yeah, if they had shown him waking up in a pile of crap it would have really improved the show for me.

seriously.. jesus.

2+2 has got to be the worst forum on any site ever to talk about shows. stop nitpicking little things you stupid muppets.

not even discussing any real plot lines or any interesting future developments... all you guys are talking about is the clock on the wall and the guy in a coma not waking up in poop.

a decent mod needs to get up in the ootv an just start banning all the nits.

I'm just saying, as long as we're nitpicking plot holes here.

Perhaps the painkillers they gave him for the gunshot wound stopped him up for the duration of his coma.

Of the nits we've picked they really do seem inconsistent about how long it's been since the outbreak and that matters for stuff like the romantic triangle plot with him and his friend.

Having Halloween fall on a Sunday was fantastic for them, most people went out on Friday/Saturday so they stayed in to watch this.

I was being facetious about the nits. I very much enjoyed the pilot... I'll be giving this show a shot.

LOL, totally with you here.

Safety on glocks...comas, clocks on the wall...just ****ing roll with it. I never pay attention to these things unless the show wants me to.

If they outbreak happens instantly and immediately infects 3/10 people...then its kind of hard to deal with. If your buddy in the army is slowing walking up toward you then you're just like "dude whats up", then he bites you, and you probably run away and eventually become a zombie too.

Hawaii I feel like would be the best position to defend against a zombie outbreak. They got so much military in such a small area ready to **** up those Asian countries that you would think that their chances of survival and reclaiming the island are much greater than densely populated areas like city.

QFT there are a few threads in OOTV I refuse to follow because ppl nit it up. I'm glad I can enjoy movies/tv shows without worrying about the guy waking up in a pile of crap lol

I enjoyed the show....I'm a huge zombie/Romero fan so this was pretty good. Just not sure how long it can last though because people that like zombie shows like me have short attention spans...

I think this show can make a good run at it. Who knows if it will be Mad Men/Breaking Bad good, but it has potential. There's only one zombie show on TV, the survival aspect is pretty cool, and you can bust out pretty much any character you want. Give us some Lost-style background stories, BOOM 7 seasons right there!

A request: can all posts dealing with the comics/what happens in them/how they differ from the show/etc be placed in spoilers clearly marked as containing stuff from the comics or something to that effect? I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want to know anything about what happens in the comics.

Read World War Z. A big plot point early in the book is that

Spoiler:

Conventional military tactics don't work against an enemy that will just keep coming.

Quoted from Wikipedia:

The United States Army sends a task force to Yonkers, New York, in a high-profile military campaign intended to restore American morale. Instead, the troops are overwhelmed and routed by the zombies, due to the reliance on human-oriented tactics such as shock-and-awe and firing at the center of mass instead of the brain, weapons that are ineffective or 'just for show', and armor that didn't protect against bites. Other countries suffer similarly disastrous defeats against their own hordes of the infected, and human civilization teeters on the brink of collapse.

Yeah, and that was ****ing ******ed in World War Z. It was ****ing ******ed in 28 Weeks Later, too. Zombies would get raped by a modern military in a pitched battle, Max Brooks is a hippie little bitch.

It was not ******ed in this because we didn't see it. That's how it needs to be played. It happened. How? Why? Doesn't matter. Just like it doesn't matter why the zombies exist, better off to never explain it and deal with the consequences.

The real reason the military always loses to the zombies is that it would be a ****** show if the dude woke up from a coma and somebody was like, "dude you missed a ****ing zombie outbreak it was crazy. The National Guard got some light armor and air support up here and there was this huge firefight where they killed like 9,000 zombies. Remind me to send you some Youtube links of gun camera footage of zombies getting disintegrated. Anyway, see you at the office, bro."

Really liked it.

Very surprised at the ratings, but I guess I shouldnt be. Really a massive premier though.

Like the lead a lot, along with the style. Definitely stuff to nit up but always a chance some of these are worked out with more story (we aren't supposed to know everything yet).

Very solid B+/A-

Has anyone made a zombie series before? I cant think of a single one.

Its easy to pick at the details of it, but i really liked it. I mean the dead are walking the earth, im happy to ignore the inconsistencies in time and certain details missing here and there.

Provided the show has:
1, good character development, specifically dealing with the Z outbreak
2, a higher headshot to minute ratio than the average action film

then im happy.

1. There presumably aren't a lot of people alive. Even if they are in a concentrated place, like say Wisconsin, it's not like the zombies will come to the decision travel to Wisconsin where the people are. Most survivors are scattered.

2. Atlanta is where survivors went/go for safe haven. Since Atlanta is overun with zombies, survivors that go there often die. It makes perfect sense for there to be a lot of Zombies there.

The army pretty much soul raped the Zeds in Sean of the Dead.

Which is exactly how it would happen in real life. Cos its ****ing ridiculous to think they wouldnt adapt to shooting high with a 1000+ round per minute 50 cal.

The only weakness of army is hungry, sleepy and finite ammo.

I like that the zombies are slow, but also like that they seem to be able to pick up a little speed. It's more threatening than the zombies from the "...of the Dead" series but not seemingly impossible to avoid like Dawn of the Dead remake or 28 Days Later. It was also interesting to see that it seems the zombies give up the chase at some point. Even in Shaun of the Dead once they knew you were in some hiding space they would never stop coming.

I assumed that the hero was being monitored in his coma for some period of the month he was out. We could assume he was even being taken care of for up to a few days before he woke up.

IDK if it's in the show's best interests to show us the outbreak, but rather just give us some stories from the other survivors like they did with the father and son ("We were all heading to ATL before my wife got infected") Just give enough to give us an idea.

I agree with the earlier poster who said the horde of zombies in ATL were probably crowded around some building where tank radio survivor(s) were.

The zombies also tend to remember some basics from their life (wife trying the door handle). Pretty much what happened in Day of the Dead when the zeds all travelled to the mall.

They could be around because there are people, but its equally possible they are the people who were from the city or even the survivors who remember going there from their life but not really knowing why who got overpowered at some point.
