That Rolling Stone list looks like it was written mainly to put someone the writer hated, like Norm MacDonald, near the bottom of the list. He probably pitched an idea like the ten best and ten worst SNL cast members and he was told to do a complete ranking.

I can understand Tina Fey being ranked highly because the list seems to count the bad things you do against you (Wiig, rightfully, gets pushed down the list for sins such as too much Gilly) and I can't recall her doing anything that stands out as horrible while doing great in her limited role.

Commenting while watching. - 2 weird moments that stood out during the Chevy Chase red carpet interview. When the interviewer said, "you were a part of the beginning of the show"and Chevy had a throw away comment "Part?!" We get it, you were the star. Jfc let it go. But then he does a complete 180 and makes a pretty touching and humble comment about how he wishes he had stuck around for longer than he did. That he did have his reasons for leaving, but regretted not getting to be part of such a special thing for longer. Has he ever publicly admitted this? - I love that Will Ferrell talked about just how much dumb luck is involved in being on the show/success of bits, etc. I mean, in a way, Ferrell has Eddie Murphy to thank for his career. No Eddie Murphy on SNL probably leads to it being canceled, and no Will Ferrell years later. It's funny how things work out. - It's weird to think that 3/5 of the Chippendales sketch are dead; Farley, Swayze, and Hooks. -In the audition montage, I would've had no idea that that was Zach Galifianakis if it weren't for his distinct voice. He's ridic young and skinny and beardless. -Jim Carrey's post-nuclear Elvis made me spit out my drink. - It's weird that in the WU montage that they didn't show Cecily Strong. Look Lorne, we all know it didn't work out, but trying to sweep it under the rug seems disrespectful, especially when showing the completely forgettable WU anchors like Brian Doyle Murray and Brad Hall. -When Chris Rock was saying how in '81 the ratings were down and Eddie Murphy swooped in and saved the show, I just sensed that poor Piscopo was in some corner silently weeping. -The Tracy Morgan tribute seemed kinda random. Yes, I'm fully aware of his situation. Just seemed weird when they cut to commercial and showed his picture and name, as if he's deceased. -that Phil Hartman Chris Farley goodbye is always heartbreaking. Awesome touch ending the segment with Lovitz. Good move. - Both Mike Myers and Dana Carvey individually have aged but they didn't look like they've aged a day as Wayne and Garth.

Sorry about the spacing in the last post. Did it from my phone. Oh yeah, and that ranking list is the nut low, obviously. Whoever made that list should be fired from life.

I couldn't believe they didn't include Joe Montana/Walter Payton doing the superior dance with the Church Lady in the sports montage. They did have Montana and his masturbating line, though, which might have been the GOAT athlete moment.

I've seen Eddie Murphy smile 4 times this decade. dude has no desire to be funny. i wouldn't be shocked if he was paid, or paid more than everyone else just to come, let Chris Rock be funny on his behalf and get a standing O

I enjoyed it a ton. there was definitely some things that were crap, Californians is funny up until Wigg says "Stuart" the first time, then it's instantly old, and this one was 45 minutes long with crappy cameos.

small nitpick but i was hoping Eli would try and crash Peyton and Jeter's little bit and just get shoved off by his brother despite have 2 rings. something small. it is NY after all

Can we start calling Chevy Chase, "Heavy Face?" Nah, he's by all accounts a dick, but it's still awesome to see him in this context.

The Lovitz bits were a perfect way to incorporate him.

I'd watch a movie of Sudekis doing the running man for 2 hours.

Wayne's World was obviously awesome, probably gonna have to bang out both of those movies this week now

Controversial take - Garth and Kat have never bothered me.

I loved that whole music segment, but man, i can't stress enough how much Maya Rudolph sucks. How is that a good impression? Martin Short managed to not be his incredibly annoying self, but she just ruined everything.

Of course, now I won't be able to get "OOOHHH WEEEE...WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?" out of my head for a week.

Which isn't a bad thing. I don't get tired of that sketch. Sudekis flying in from off camera kills me every time, too.

I like Garth & Kat and the Californians (former more than the latter) because I'm a sucker for totally stupid, absurd humor. I know the Californians is totally dumb and unfunny, but for some reason, it makes me laugh.

Hardest I've ever laughed at SNL: the first time I saw Chippendales.

Californians is funny for 30 seconds. Hader is great, "Stert!" and "whuhrrrryoudoingherrrre?" then it goes to commercial, then it comes back and they do the stupid road bit, then they go to commercial, then Vanessa Bayer does a horrendoes - and not in a "this is supposed to be horrendous" spanish maid impression, then the go to yet another friggin commercial, then the host comes in, then it's over.

it was a good sketch to add cameos, but it was just a bad choice and lets be real, we didn't need to see Cooper and Swift, it's not like they knocked it out of the park. Yeah he kissed Betty White, great. i guarantee every article written about that show will crap all over that part.

WUWT would have been a really good way to inject another impression and 2 or 3 celebrity cameos, but i don't mind how they shoehorned it in

... i don't shut up, do i? i really want to write about SNL for someone

That's the beauty of a sketch where you get to wear wigs; a good head of hair will always subtract a decade or two. Hell, give Chevy Chase a decent weave and dye job (ok, and maybe throw him on a keto diet for a month) and he'd probably look like he's ready to do another Vacation movie.

On a side note, Laraine Newman looks pretty damn good for 62.

shame Eddie Murphy is a d-bag now. I'm not old enough to remember him on SNL but his stand up comedy is the GOAT imo

overall was solid, thought the timing was off in lots of places.

- Weekend Update gets less time than Kanye West
- Chris Rock spends 2 minutes doing the intro for Eddie Murphy's 1 minute of SERIOUS TALK
- so many montage videos but VH1 already plays the **** out of that stuff so I didn't think they needed to dedicate so much time to it here

Overall just felt like a somewhat weird mixed bag of rehashing old skits (Jeopardy, Californians), complete copies of old skits (Bassomatic), montages, and pretty weird musical choices (McCartney sounded terrible, didn't Miley Cyrus's moment end last year and why is she covering Paul Simon, whatever artsy thing Kanye did?)

though, the highs were pretty high. Loved Jeopardy, seeing Wayne's World come back was fun - I probably would have preferred more of that stuff and less from the other buckets. and Weekend Update only getting a cursory treatment was way off I thought, that could/should have been a goldmine with people reprising their old roles. how they could only find about 90 seconds for that in a 3.5 hour show is real puzzling. and having Ed Norton do more of Stefan than Stefan felt very forced. another example of that was Spade's "Bu-Bye" bit after the California's - just felt like they were trying to jam that in somewhere, anywhere

Seriously, I have know idea how this works so consistently. Every time he jumps into the scene and starts busting a move in that ridiculous outfit both my wife and I are cracking up.

I didn't mind the Bass-o-matic copy to begin the night. In fact, I thought it was great. Dan Aykroyd is always awesome - love watching him do whatever. Bonus points for the fish jamming the blender.

Let's not forget Jerry Seinfeld fielding questions from the audience - that was surprisingly really, really, good. One thing I liked about it was seeing all the celebrities in the audience and their reactions. Vanessa Bayer was easily having the best time out of everyone - whereas some people looked bored off their asses, she genuinely looked like she was having a blast.

Seinfeld was one of the highlights, but that is really a classic SNL bit.

Larry David was great too. Loved when Jerry asked him if he was going to the after party. I instantly felt like watching Curb.

If nothing else comes of last night's show, at least the writers should be happy to know that millions of people will forever read the phrase "let it snow" as "le tits now."

I know I will.

Thought the show was going to be a trainwreck after that Timberlake/Fallon opening (which, even for the night's standards, felt a bit too self-congratulatory), but it got pretty good when they started doing some sketches. It was fun to see the different generations perform together and they did an admirable job squeezing everyone in. The need to get everyone a part made the sketches feel a bit overstuffed and I could have done without some of the bad celebrity cameos, but it was overall good.

RE: The Rolling Stone list, it's obv terrible. Norm at 135, Leslie Jones not at 141, etc.
