17100

Everyone got it wrong.

wagers in same order

15000
1400
don't remember

Even the guy that was in second and ended up winning was shocked.
All Trebek said was "oh wow" and he moved on it was pretty funny.
Right, how do you bet anything other than 4k there?

Because the scores going into FJ weren't even close to what OP states.

17100 - 15000 = 2100
14000 - 6801 = 7199
10400 - 1400 = 9000

So while the leader did overbet, in theory it wouldn't have made any difference one way or the other. Either way with a miss and rational wagers from opponents she loses. With a miss and irrational wagers she still wins. With a right answer she wins either way.

Just another case of a poster making a worse error than the typical poor wagerers.

Jerry: I'll take Therapists for $200 Alex

Alex: I'm sorry Jerry, that's not Therapists, the category is The Rapists.

Jerry: Oh. How much can I wager?

I'd watch the contestant interview for sure if he makes it to the tournament of champions.

"So Jerome, it says here on this card that you were indicted for sexual assault on a child. Whoa boy, that must have been interesting! Any good jail stories?"

I'm 50 episodes behind on my PVR, but I just finished The Battle of the Decades a few days ago. I would not complain at all if Jeopardy was just Brad, Ken and Roger for eternity. I'm following along with this thread up to the dates I've watched, and +1 to the poster who mentioned that this tournament was really the only time I have ever bothered to stop and listen to every single interview with Alex. Great tournament. (Ken had it though, damn)

And then the first episode I watch after the tournament, the 10-or-so time, very uninspiring but returning champion Julia comes back. Finds the early Single Jeopardy DD, and with a grand total of $800 at that point, agonizes for 10 seconds, and then excitedly proclaims that she wants to make it a true daily double, because she hasn't had the chance to do so yet.

wat. bring back ken roger brad plz thx

p.s. do some of these champions even realize that when they have less than $1,000 that making it a true daily double does not actually wager $1,000, but rather their current total? I feel like I've seen it a lot and they don't know they didn't wager the true maximum.

well if they don't know they're ****ing ******ed.

alex only makes it a point to specifically tell them they can wager up to 1K even if they don't have that much.

Saw an ad for Jeopardy! last night that said Alex's mustache returns Sept. 15. Exciting!

Elizabeth is close to a Jeopardy 10 and bet for the tie, I'm swooning. Also, I am really, really, really sad that the defending champ who bet everything but 2 bucks didn't get soul crushed by both of them getting it right, that needed to be punished.

to return of the stache
new champ and also liked the FJ tie wager.

Weak players overall, plenty of unanswered clues and timid DD wagers. Doubt she lasts long. Would have loved the train wreck of losing by $2.

I guessed Dr Seuss from the recliner, but was certain that 1937 was too early for him, but since I had nothing else, I would have written it down.

Defending champ gets points for the true daily double and her second dd wager to give her exactly half of second if she missed. But then she inexplicably wagers 1200 in FJ instead of everything (1400)??? I know it's only for a grand but still.

I figured when she bet the 1k that it being the right wager was a coincidence. It was obvious from her interviews that she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

I also immediately thought hats, Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss. Was shocked when they all found it so impossible that they'd rather try jokes instead of answering.

Well its been over 30 years since I read 1984 in high school, so I was right there with her on the DD with doublespeak instead of doublethink.

Thought it was a tougher board this ep.

They break ties for second place with the extra thousand bucks going to the player who last was in the lead, so she should have actually wagered less than 1k, 401 probably being best. Given that she wagered for the tie the day before and correctly gambled on a true DD today, I'm betting she's a savvy wagerer who just forgot or didn't know the rule.

Sigh so much DD fail.

Children's Librarian bets 1200 out of 4200 in Fairy Tales Category in SJ.

Champ can easily lock up the runaway with final DD wager and fails to do so.

I haven't been impressed with any of the contestants this year. Current champ is clearly best, but even he doesn't seem that great for whatever reason.

Probably the reason that he's thoroughly mediocre and has no clue how to wager.

Yeah, some real weak wagering on those DDs. I wasn't even thinking about the guy being a children's librarian on the Little Mermaid question, which only makes it worse for going so pathetically small. And not locking him out on the final one, weak. Sort of surprised the champ was the only one to get Reich though, thought that was a pretty easy one given the category was foreign words.

that seemed like one of the easiest FJ questions in a while.
