Yesterday I binge watched the first season of Snowfall. It is set in 1983 Los Angeles and covers start of the crack cocaine craziness. The plot has three main story lines of an American youth selling crack, a Mexican drug cartel and the CIA's involvement in drugs for guns to fight the communist in other countries. The different tales all get enough air time and depth to be interesting. It ran for six season from 2017- 2023. The IMDb is 8.3 for the show and I look forward to watching the other 5 seasons.

Depending on your age you might also get a fun nostalgic vibe from the cars, music, clothes, posters on the walls, etc.

I feel like Sheridan TV is always at least watchable. But yeah, it's grittier than you think. Way better than GI Jane.

I need to give this another try because I love these types of shows, but I struggled to get into the early episodes.

Rome is another highly rated show that I recently gave up on. It aged terribly and came off as very low budget even though I think it was HBO's most expensive show at the time.

Feel the same about Snowfall. I know it's meant to be good, and even though I've started it 3-4 times, I don't think I've ever got very far, and I honestly can't remember a thing about it!

Snowfall is pretty amazing, one of the better shows to watch. I don't remember the beginning, but I'd say push through it.

After watching it, I then read the book. I actually think the TV show (which covers the first half of the book) is an improved better story.

It wraps up as well as any show this century. Before it was clear that it was approaching its end game, it spun its wheels a bit, but once they knew, they went hard. The last season is really great

Interesting. I really liked the show, so much so I got the audiobooks after it finished, but haven't had a chance to start them yet.

Silo was quiet there in the middle and then came back strong. Was indeed cool.

Looking forward to trying Warrior. Doing Joe Pickett now, which starts awful, like 3 Pines awful. But then it actually gets pretty ok.

What? Rome is not low budget, it was canceled because it costs too much to make.

Just like Sopranos, watching Rome 20 years from now it'll still be great.

Agree 100% on Rome. Titus Pullo is one of my favorite characters in a TV series, not to mention that the Pullo/Vorenus dual character arc is elite writing.

If anyone ever watched the tv show Dethklok / Metalocalypse 10-15 years ago, a movie is coming out this week that is effectively the series finale after doing nothing for nearly 7-8 years since the last movie.

Season 3 of The Other Two is very good so far.

If you've not seen that or Hacks, you're missing out on quality funny TV.

i eventually watched all of better call Saul

Id give it a 7.5 or 8 / 10

its not as good as breaking bad (imo) but its definitely worth a watch, some good moments in it and plus it kinda gives a bit more of the ending of BB

iirc it was far and away the most expensive tv show ever(at the time)

i just rewatched it a month or so ago, and it's still elite imo

Damn it's too bad The Other Two is only 3 seasons. But it went out on top. Can't argue with that.

Watching The White Lotus and the newlywed with the jumbos is an idiot. Did she just gain sentience at the start of the honeymoon? She had no idea until this very moment that he is a rich tool or that she is a trophy wife?
