More than halfway through the second season of From and my irritation is steadily increasing. It keeps piling on the mysteries without explanation for any of them. It's still completely unclear what's going on. That could work if the writing, acting, characters and directing were a lot better than they are, but Twin Peaks this ain't. Harold Perrineau as Boyd is great, everyone else is meh. This show would be barely watchable if he wasn't so good.

Jack Ryan final season was better than the last one without as many ridiculous plot devices, at least no
Spoiler:
tunneling into the Kremlin with the Czech PM
this time.

Hijack is entertaining and a good binge. Yes some stupid plot holes but not nearly as bad as Jack Ryan, The Diplomat, or the Night Agent. Didn’t realize it hadn’t all been released yet and am looking forward to the next episode on weds. Idris Elba is an exceptionally charismatic actor and would have made a great James Bond I think.

His crime drama series "Luther" is good, I haven't seen the recent Luther movie yet.

All episodes are free on Tubi right now.

i also thought luther was good, the Movie Luther was crap. I often find when Netflix/ Apple get hold of english dramas they mess them up cos they do too much stuff to suit USA audience changing words here and there so USA audience get it, but loses the authenticity of the character., and it then loses its grittiness/edginess. (my opinion)

I rewatched True Dectective season 1 over last few days its def a 9/10 if not 10/10 Woody and Matthew did a great job.

Gonna watch all of them before the new one with Jodie Foster drops

Best show on tv. It’s the last Cinemax original and was picked back up by HBOMax. From the same people who did Banshee. It’s set in China town in San Francisco in the 1800’s. You have the tongs (Chinese gangs) fighting each other and the police. The Irish fighting the Chinese. Crooked cops, politicians and business people. It’s Deadwood meets Bruce Lee. It has a litany of fantastic characters. It has an 8.4 on IMDb for a reason

Warrior just became too grim and samey during the second season for me to want to continue with it.

The Leftovers was great. Season 2 was my favorite. Great acting throughout all the seasons. It definitely had that "Lost" feel to it at times but was done so much better overall. Probably a top 15 show of all time for me now.

deadwood was the best writing on any tv show ever.

i've only seen an episode or 2 of warrior, but the writing is about avg for a tv show, which... you can find better writing in this thread

Agree with you on Deadwood in regards to the writing. The comparison to Deadwood is more about the time period, the number of great characters and most of them are very flawed. Warrior started out as a Kung Fu version of Banshee, now in Season 3 it is a much deeper show. Politics have played a much bigger role and everything about it is better than the previous two seasons which were still very good, especially the last half of Season 2.

Just watched The Old Man. Had a lot of potential but couldn't quite live up to it imo. 6/10

Damn tough crowd. Slightly better than the average show? Had to be a bit better than that? Not that I care either way.

The new Taylor Sheridan thing Special Ops Lioness is very watchable for the genre. Better than Jack Ryan (which is a low floor). It's pretty gritty I must say. Filmed the way he films Mayor of Kingstown.

Finished Drops Of God and really enjoyed it.

4 episodes into lioness and I think it’s really good…but I think they’re spending to much time on family stuff. As good as the actors are, I don’t really care about the teenage daughter or the doctor husband.

The actress playing the lead is fantastic, too.

Binged S2 of The Bear in a few days, which I really never do anymore because of time. Just couldn't stop myself from watching and putting off other stuff.

I really loved it, thought it was just as good as S1.

Just great writing, great characters, great acting, great everything. I think they made the last episode a bit too dramatic with the Carmy stuff, but it did get me so I wont complain too much.

S2E6 was crazy, almost felt like a thriller or a horror episode, though I'm not sure others will agree on that. Impressive how many great actors they got, too.

Nothing came across as unrealistic to me, not being involved whatsoever in the hospitality/restaurant sector, but I think these types of shows will almost always be unrealistic to some degree, since they got to make it interesting and blow it up a bit. I don't think that should be a reason to downplay the quality. There are much more amazing cops/hospital/lawyer/... shows than there are hyper realistic ones. Might also be hard in this particular world (hospitality/restaurant) to make it realistic and a great show at the same time.

Finale spoilers
Spoiler:
I hope the Carmy stuff gets resolved because it would be silly if this is how they ended their relationship. It felt like an unnecessary cliffhanger especially with the shot of the phone of Kristy trying to call him. I guess they wanted a hook so people come back for S3, don't think the show really needs it, though.

I only watched the 1st episode so far, yes, it's very similar to Dopesick, but Mathew Broderick staring vs Michael Keaton. lol

I will watch it as it looks good, and if you haven't seen Dopesick then watch that and then see if the reviews of this are good enough.

I binged the rest of Painkiller today, it was good. Just a reminder of what scumbags Big Pharma and the FDA are, also the doctors that go against the oath for money. We have seen it over and over and it will continue to happen.

I would give the nod to Dopesick, but this is good.

ID TV is doing a 1-hour special report on The Long Island Serial Killer tomorrow night.

Sure, there has been a lot of news coverage, but not really complete, as I never even heard of this before they caught the guy.
