I'd say Gomorrah and The Bureau are my top two. I think you should push through with Snowfall. It might take a little while to get really good. I've been watching this show called "The Guest Book" by the guy that made "Sprung," a great comedy from last year. Lots of familiar actors making guest appearances for each episode.
boardwalk empire is masterfully put together but always lacked the ability to make you care
you observe extremely well acted out and compelling events unfold without ever really caring what happens to who because they are all terrible people
not like in sopranos where it painted them as adorable idiotic goofballs that you couldn't help but root for, these guys are smart, cold, & calculating and as a result you never really care
I've never minded watching stuff where the characters are pieces of ****, as long as it was clear to me that the showrunner was fully aware of what they were. I do get irritated if they seem like they just genuinely want to present someone unlikable as a straightforward protagonist though.
Boardwalk is one of the shows that pissed me off the most I loved it and then the producer just decided he was finished with it. There was still a lot to work through with Capone and Chicago. It's a hard show for me to recommend because of that.
It's a good point about Boardwalk, there's really no simpleton, lovable characters.
Would definitely recommend the show, of course.
The one gripe I had with BE:
Spoiler:
I wish Jimmy was around longer. I get that they kind of have a revolving door of foils to Nukky, but with the family connection and a compelling backstory, I thought it was a miss to cut Jimmy off as early as they did.
I’m loving it. They’re doing 3, 3, 2, 2 episodes a week, which is nice. I could’ve knocked out the whole thing in a day or if they all dropped at once.
Really liked the first 3 episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six. It's a bit of a slow build but really gives a lot of engaging back story. But I haven't read the book to compare.
I’d watch Riley Keough in anything. I wish I liked the music more, but I’ll keep watching. Was bummed there wasn’t an ep 4 yet. Pretty cool that they are both really singing, and amazing that she hadn’t really sung before this considering the whole being Elvis Presley’s granddaughter thing.
I thought it was going to be a comedy. Like an American Vandal-light. Never saw a trailer but saw enough praise for it to make it worth checking out. Didn’t expect to damn near fiend for the rest lol
Reminds me of other greats that just didn't get picked up for an S2 or S3. I think today it would have. Maybe came out a bit before the mad rush for content.
3 things
- ep 4 was awesome. The ooh la la scene reminded me of the tiny dancer scene in almost famous. Amazing.
- his wife is smoking hot
- there are more episodes tonight!

Agreed on all!!
I really enjoy how this show handles moments. It’s the standard build up that most shows employ but since they’re built up to musical moments and Riley Keough is excellent in the role, they’re so much more impactful.
