I prefer 1883 to Yellowstone but I generally prefer shows about the old west. It also doesn't hurt that Isabel May is incredibly easy on the eyes and a decent actress.

Finished the two seasons of AMC show Lodge 49 that aired in 2018-2019. Hard to describe the weird show with SoCal surfers, Masonic type lodges, alchemy, magical realism, and other zany **** produced by Paul Giamatti.

I still don't know if I liked it or not. They were set up well for some season 3 storylines, but got canceled.

1883 benefits from the setting and story. I suspect it will be like Yellowstone (soap opera-ish) in another season or two.

Somebody Somewhere premiere on HBO max was quite good I thought.

It has great reviews. Probably going to wait for all episodes to be released before I watch it.

the trailer for that show looks pretty great!

i love shows that have real looking people, instead of the whole cast looking like models.

Even though it is set in Kansas, I would say they went way too far with the "real" look. Those actors have to be phenomenal actors to pull it off with those looks. Few can, Danny Devito is the first that comes to mind as not a great looking guy, but extreme talent makes up for it.

1883 and Yellowstone are completely different shows. Comparing the two would be like comparing Dallas to Young Riders. Obviously Yellowstone is a top 10 greatest drama show of all time, and while 1883 is just starting out, it looks like it can stand on its own 2 feet.

Really shocked that there's been barely any discussion of Station Eleven in here. I have two episodes left but it's probably going to be topping my list of best show of the year. Would love to get some discussion going about it but I'll wait til I'm done to see if my questions are answered.

Every episode of Station Eleven that I try to watch since the 1st, is painful and can't finish it.

7.7 on IMDB isn't a great sign for Station Eleven, is it divisive in some way? There've been a few posts about how good it is in this thread, which doesn't really fit with the score unless there are also a lot of people who hate it.

Not sure if I should bother or not - I liked the book, but perhaps that's a negative, as I know what happens?

I seem to be the lone dissenter. Maybe it just caught me in a mood. I usually like post apocalyptic shows.

It's different for sure. It maybe tries a little too hard to be "literary" in a way. But it all comes together quite well in the end I thought

The challenge is that it’s much more of a character led drama that happens to be set post —apocalypse than a post-apocalypse action show. As a result it struggles to find a natural audience.

Station Eleven is the worst parts of The Walking Dead, but in the best way possible.

It's not at all what it appears to be at first and because of that a lot of episodes don't meet initial expectations.

I am finally watching Euphoria Se1, not sure why it took me so long to start it but am enjoying it a lot.

Yeah, I did a double take when they used Tracy Bonham (Mother Mother IIRC) in one of the episodes.

Almost finished with a full rewatch of The O.C.

S1 > S4 >>> S2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> S3

The dialogue on this show was so elite. So many meta jokes that I had missed previously, and this was my ~5th rewatch.

The show also kickstarted so many careers and had quite a list of notable guest stars: Chris Pratt, Max Greenfield, Paris Hilton, Shailene Woodley, Olivia Wilde, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Morena Baccarin, Amber Heard, George Lucas, T.I., Colin Hanks... the list goes on.

Yes, this was an unironic post about the greatness of The O.C.

Yeah a lot of good stuff musically in the show. I've had a few that I had to do a double take and remember what song it was.

This may have been mentioned but I am currently 3 eps through The North Water on AMC+. It's a 5- episode miniseries about an Arctic whaling expedition. Fantastic imo. The lead actor Jack O'Connell was in Godless (another great miniseries), he's poised to become a major star imo. And Colin Farrell is absolutely amazing in this, not sure if this is eligible for an Emmy award but if so he surely deserves to be nominated.

I only watched the first 10 minutes of Yellowjackets but I had to wonder who in 1996 was listening to the song Informer by Snow. (Answer: Nobody).

Saw a commercial that Killing Eve is coming back February 20. Appears to be for amc+ subscribers. February 27th is the premiere date for cable.

Haven't seen a date for Better Call Saul though.

There is no official release date for Season 6 of Better Call Saul yet, there is a countdown site that shows 47 days until March 7th for it. Not sure where they get that date, but it says unconfirmed.

Absolutely love Peacemaker on HBO Max based on the first four episodes. Acting is so-and-so at times, but general vibe and soundtrack of the show is very good. Also, Vigilante totally steals the show. It is a DC thing, but at the same time relatively standalone so it doesn't really require familiarity with the universe. However, The Suicide Squad (2021) should be watched beforehand as we are introduced to the titular character there.
