S1 was elite but I was not a big fan of this season.
Curious which plot holes?

I thought the finale was good. I still liked S1 more.

S2 was beautifully shot, excellent acting, decent enough story. For the first time ever my partner saw the surprise ending wY before me. She called it weeks ago. Impressive.

Maybe some stuff with the grandpa? But no one cares about that. They wrapped up the 4 or 5 storylines well.

I felt the entire storyline with Tanya and the gay guys was silly.

Spoiler:
If the plan was to kill her, why drag it out for days with eyes wide shut parties and coke binges and sex with the mafia guy and trips to the opera and everything else? In what world would Tanya not immediately tell her assistant that she saw the guy she's into, and probably having sex with, is having gay sex with his "uncle"? And in what world would Tanya continue to hang out with all of them once she knows the nephew is lying and actually likely a prostitute, which means they are all likely lying and possibly dangerous? Why would Portia not call the cops from the airport when she knew by then thay the men were definitely dangerous, and that her boss was with them? Why would the killer just leave his bag right there where Tanya could easily take it and use his gun? Once she takes the bag and runs into a bedroom why not immediately break down the door if they know she has the bag with the gun, instead of knocking politely and asking if she's OK? Why wait to kill Tanya when so close to shore and more likely to be discovered, when they could have killed her at any time on the ocean or in the palazzo or while she slept or whatever?

White lotus finale

Spoiler:

Tonya- just a stupid character. Would have been better if there was some kind of closure with Greg or at least a more plausible setup for the murder. All of that wine and dining establishing a ton of evidence they were together then they are going to tie her up and duct tape her? The murderer had sex with her the previous night... thats the last person that should be brought back to kill her.

The wife swapping story would have been more satisfying if they spelt out what happened but they left just enough to put the pieces together I guess.

Grandpa hitting his head seems like it was a red herring?
Dom giving into the hooker in order to get his wife back just seemed kind of lame/rushed and out of character. I think his wife was with some other guy anyway on that phone call to her, should have been resolved.

season was still very very good

Anyone watching the sex lives of college girls on hbo? It’s mindy khalings new show. It’s alright, not really about sex and more about lbgtq and class differences and cultural differences

White Lotus s2 was good. Undecided which season I prefer

Spoiler:
I don't understand why Coolidge tried to get off the yacht. Everyone was dead. Just chill until sunrise. Or try the radio.

I watch it with my wife. The way I'd describe it would be breezily mediocre.

I think S2 is an improvement overall, although the two main characters seem to have really toned up, and no longer look as "real" as they did in S1, which kind of rubs me the wrong way. A lot of the supporting characters are great. Oh, and yeah, if you're looking for sex, technically there is plenty but it's pretty much the anti-Euphoria when it comes to nudity.

I’d say the show suffers from a lack of nudity, but there’s only one of the four leads that has any sort of appeal.

The show is also shot like it’s saved by the bell without a laugh track. Just awful.

I'd start with these. That's four of the best shows of the last five years.

I disagree with most of those plot holes completely. Tanya is a lonely self centered airhead loser who inherited all her money. You give her way too much credit. They seduce her with parties specifically to convince her they are mega rich, and get her out on a boat for a few days. Now obviously you could in theory just kill her, but maybe they needed to vanish her at sea because finding her body in some sort of foul play nixes the inheritance. Again she keeps hanging out with them despite the "nephew" sex because she desperately wants to belong. She's alone, they took her in and made her a star. She doesn't want to rock that boat. We don't know for sure if Portia doesn't call the cops. We know she was told to gtf out of Italy because these people are powerful, and she could just want to get out of dodge. Many would. The bag thing is easy, that guy has no idea that she suspects a thing. So he puts his bag down because he's got to reason not to. And they probably weren't going to kill her close to shore. They were going to take the little boat out. The same little boat the killer arrived on, which is why they were close to shore to begin with

As for why she jumped off the boat, I totally get that. You just killed 3 people in a foreign country. You don't speak the language. There's no witness to what you did. There's no evidence that they were really going to kill you. You'd ****ing panic for sure. That was the part I thought was the most realistic

Both seasons of White Lotus were way more about the journey than the destination for me. I loved the writing, the characters were interesting, great dialogue, etc. Neither finale really landed all that well for me, but it didn't detract all that much from my enjoyment of either season.
