the killing is free on imdbtv. rated 8.4 iirc

it's a detective show in seattle, first aired in 2011. i like it quite a bit. the two leads are great actors, and have good on screen chemistry

Since Handmaid’s Tale is coming back, can anyone tell me if season 3 was worth watching?? I didn’t bother after the S2 finale but I’m reconsidering since I’m out of shows to watch.

I am in the same boat but of I have like 200 shows to watch that I haven't finished or haven't started on my list I made on IMDB. lol

I just have them sorted by highest rating when picking my next watch.

I am actually on a re-watch of OZ now about half way thru. I remembered how much I liked it back in the day. It's cool to see all the stars on the show that I forget were in it. I didn't realize that Chief Boden(Chicago Fire) was Kareem Said.

Before that I re-watched Dexter and was great again. Getting ready for the new season.

Oz was one of those I really wanted to watch but couldn’t bring myself to do it. I damn sure could now lol!! But I’d have to re-up my sub and I’ll wait till they Ted Lasso or The Morning Show season 2 first.

Wow you have never see it? The worst part is its not HD and doesn't fill the screen and there is no skip intro song button for each episode. But you get used to it. It's on HBO max.

Oz was groundbreaking when it was on, but it's probably pretty dated by now.

JK Simmons is great as the Aryan Nation gang leader, and you'll see a lot of other actors you'll recognize that got their careers started in the show. Edie Falco, Dean Winters, Lance Riddick, Christopher Meloni to name a few

Yea, it was groundbreaking, I don't think there was any series of that kind in the late 90's, remind of anything I am forgetting.

Has a ton of great actors and being dated isn't really an issue as you don't miss cell phones and tech because its all inside a prison. There is no PC/Woke back then. lol

The main dated issue is pre HD days. I am enjoying the binge tho.

The Sopranos was a couple years later in 1999.

Season 1 of the expanse is a rough go. They really throw you in the middle of everything, almost like they assumed the only people watching it would be book readers.

I think its worth slogging through though. Lots of essential development and I don't necessarily think the world gets easier to discern if you throw yourself straight into season 2

OZ was great.

My only serious criticism was that it was too fast paced and excessively violent. However, that was clearly a stylistic choice and made the show more dramatic.

Just don't attached to any character. They could be dead five minutes later.

Re: Oz, **** was intense af and I'm skeptical that a lot of the more violent, twisted stuff that occurs in it would make the cut these days for what's allowed to occur in a show. I was watching it around the time it originally aired and watched the first several seasons before it finally went off the rails. I don't think it'd hold up well quality-wise nowadays but I give it a lot of credit for being a groundbreaking show in a lot of ways.

Same, also felt s1 was borderline unwatchable and I remember being very close to calling quits with it several times. It gets a lot better and at its best is quite good, but, if you're expecting an elite show, you're going to be disappointed. I'd say overall it's on par with BSG. Worth watching but far from a must watch.

I want to rewatch Dexter but I have horrible memories of anything post-S4 and it's putting me off, since S4 is not a good place to stop either. If you faced similar issues, how did you solve this?

I just finished The Bureau / Le Bureau S2. Started watching because of recommendations here. I thought S1 was solid, and S2 was at the very least one of my favorite seasons of a show I have seen in recent years. Maybe ever. Amazing show.

TY for convincing me to watch it .

Nothing wrong with seasons 5 thru 7. I liked it all. Season 8 is fine thru most of it and the finale is where most people were disappointed. But with season 9 coming back now, maybe they can turn where it left off into something great.

That being said, it's a great show and I love it in spite of its flaws.

It's also pro cop and pro torture which I know you arent here for
I'm about 5 or 6 episodes into the first season of 24. I'm thinking I really should have stuck to my filthylovesit=horrible show rating system, lol. I can't help but pick it apart sooo bad. Master, it's not just the female characters, I don't think a single decision thus far has been a good decision, by anybody. Does it get better? I don't think I can do this for another 200 EPISODES!

I also watched Person of Interest, which is 5 season and 103 episodes. I had never seen it before. The 1st half of season 1 is average and somewhere around that time it starts getting good and stays that way thru the 1st 3 seasons. It's on HBO Max.

Season 4 and 5, they keep adding new stuff but the whole concept just stats getting boring to me. lol

I still have like 4 episodes to go on the last season. I would say its a pretty good show overall. John's monotone, emotionless voice 100% of the time gets kind of old tho. And Root was ok for a few episodes but she got annoying AF when they made her a reg.

I've always meant to watch Person of Interest. I met Michael Emerson walking his dog in Central Park and he was a really nice guy. My brother and I were getting a pedicab tour and I pointed him out. The pedicab guy says I'll go get him to take a pic with you. I told him no, don't bother the guy, I don't really like bothering famous people for pics I'll never look at again, lol. He wouldn't be deterred though and Emerson was really cool about it. I recognized him from Lost, not sure if PoI was even on yet.

if you're 5 episodes in and don't like it, you should give up. if you were going to like it, you'd like it by now.

soooooooo much good stuff to watch, no need to waste time on shows you don't really like.

It's my "watch a few episodes in the evening with a 100yo lady" show. Not a whole lot of stuff to watch that's gma friendly and that's really good. You can only watch so many Golden Girls reruns, lol.

I agree with mark. I think I'm up to noonish or so. It seems like it's picking up, but so much of it frustratingly dumb.

I'll spoiler some of this, as I think mark & maybe others are behind me.

Spoiler:

In addition to the constant terrible decision making by the characters, the writers are relying on timing coincidences way too much.

--The van with the girls in it drives right by the parents looking for them--twice!
--Just as the guys in the van are going back to kill the other girl, the ambulance shows up
--Exactly when Jack's about to talk to the bad guy in the police station, Mason shows up
--Just when the helpful bad guy is getting the van, the main bad guy gets a call and tells #1 to drive to a different place instead

etc, etc.

Also the characters' relationships seem too soap-operatic.

OTOH, they do seem to do a good job keeping the tension going, and the action parts aren't too bad. I do think some of my criticisms are more infrequent as S1 has progressed. Maybe the writers were just finding their way, trying to figure out if this is an action show, or a show about the characters.
