I finally got around to Normal People.

I went in genuinely skeptical that I'd like a show about teens ****ing. I must say by the end I was pleasantly surprised. One I'll probably watch again some day.

Ted Lasso still best thing I've seen this year.

It was decent but not great imo, seems way overhyped. Nearly every episode had glaring plotholes and it was so annoying to watch our Hero come up with extremely clever and elaborate schemes to steal jewelry worth 25m euros from Louvre etc yet at the same time fail to account for some very basic stuff. The worst was episode 4 (spoilers)

Spoiler:
Lol @ handing over the only copy of the mega piece of evidence that you could publish at the click of a button (and achieve all your goals while doing so) to a news network owned by the villain

Lol @ the super obvious foreshadowing of the journo lady dying and not bothering to consider protecting her in some way after she's just told you she was followed by the hitman WHO KNOWS WHERE SHE LIVES.

The writers are way less clever than they think. But the lead guy is very good and charismatic, overall it was still a fairly enjoyable watch. It's on Netflix.
Pretty much my takeaway. Fun easy watch that really doesn't warrant much analysis. Was...fine.

Glad they didn't try and stretch it out

I just started Borgen on Netflix. It's a show about Denmark and their political system. Sort of a West Wing vibe I think. 3 episodes in and I like it so far.

JFC. Just got to the episode where the spoiler occurs, much less what they do with it in future.

A thought occurred to me today though. Could this have been considered decent TV for its time?

24 debuted in 2001. Some years later, Breaking Bad came along and showed how to really write crime/action drama.

I have to view 24 through the lens of having already viewed BB, which probably colors my view. Maybe if I'd viewed 24 first, I would be more willing to accept its goings-on?

I mean, it basically swept the 2006 emmys so it was highly regarded critically. Won for best drama, best actor, and best director, best editing and best sound.

I hope that S1 doesn't end on a cliffhanger. I've pretty much already decided that I can't do any more after this one. So so bad.

It was great tv at the time but those specific episodes were always viewed as terrible

Ehhhh, every season is pretty self contained. It ends on a "cliffhanger" to a point, but I'm pretty sure we never see the resolution and it's already resolved by the time S2 starts

I'm glad The Knick is on HBO so that more people will see it. It's such a great show, and according to Soderbergh in a new Rolling Stone interview, it's the happiest he's ever been working. Apparently there might be a spinoff series coming at some point, though not involving Soderbergh. Originally there were going to be 5 seasons, but only 2 got made. Pretty sad considering it beats 97% of the shows released on any given year. He also says that Servant on Apple TV is really good, so I might check it out even though it's not my type of show.

Snowfall is back, saw the first ep of season 4. A good start. I love this show.

Also watched "It's A Sin," which I didn't love, but was happy to watch. I'm glad it was made, because it's a story that needs to be told.

Only getting to I Know This Much Is True because of Golden Globes.

Godamn yo. I'm only half way in and it's already basically perfect. I'm expecting the second half to not be as good. If it's as good, it'll be an all-time mini series for me.

ginny and georgia on a netflix. it's kind of like an updated gilmore girls, but not as wholesome or racist.

not exactly the best show for this crowd, but i'm loving it.

im pretty shocked at its low 7.0 imdb rating

i mean she has a point. it doesn't make any sense to make jokes about taylor swift going through partners when leo dicaprio goes through 10x the partners she does

Just finished Your Honor

It was gripping and entertaining, but man it was tilting. Endless stupidity. It's certainly worth a watch and you can binge through it pretty quickly, but you'll be shaking your head a lot.

Deadwood is elite. Haven’t watched Gomorrah but everyone seems to love it too. Watching them both is the move.

As a Dane, Borgen is one of the few Danish shows I've ever watched.

It's really good. I highly recommend it.
