I don't watch anime. But, there are two shows which I consider great.

1. Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (an improved remake of an early 1970s anime). Some older folks may remember this show as Star Blazers from the late '70s and early '80s.

The American show it most resembles is Battlestar Galactica.



2. Death Note. This is often listed as the #1 anime on fan-made lists.

The mental warfare between the protagonist and his rival is great.

That show is awesome, but that was over a year ago. There was much discussion about it.

I liked Death Note (the anime) a lot as well when I watched it a few years ago. I remember thinking they could have trimmed some fat ie cut some content without losing much, but at its best I remember the show being excellent. Supposedly, the movie is terrible; I have no interest in watching it, anyways.

Haven't seen any AoT since s1. If s2 is easily available now, maybe I'll jump back in.

I hardly have watched any anime in my life, but after getting COVID-desperate I watched the first three seasons of this dubbed on Hulu. I was surprised how graphically gory and violent and profane it is. It is no Harry Potter. Apparently it is banned in China. It is no Harry Potter. I thought that the background music and voices were really well done. The overall storyline includes many characters and seems to include ideas from western religious mythology such in the Bible or in Norse mythology. There's plenty of action so its rarely boring, but it is the extremely complicated. The overall story doesn't make a lot of sense when looked at as a whole. That doesn't matter much though. Will probably skip S4 S5 for now.

I finished this last weekend. Just last night I was wondering why ep 8 didn't appear as fully watched. I clicked on it and realized there was a 2 min segment after the credits. Cool stuff!

i just watched the whole ****ing thing, got to the climax and turned it off right at the end because it's so ****ing absurdly awful, lazy, pos, writing.

i was enjoying the two leads. they're great. but omg, like how could you produce such garbage, contrived, absurd **** happening in the story?

Another show to add to my "filthy hates it, must watch" list.

Watched The Head , HBO MAX only source, a whodunit mystery involving 10 supposedly competent professionals trapped in an Antarctic climate change research station where they try figure which one of of them is a secret murderer planning to kill all (recall Ten Little Indians , Agatha Christie). Overacting, idiot decision-making, plot holes galore, technical mistakes, and hard to understand foreign accents abound. One character even solves a 6-digit "military encrypted" lock code for a cellphone in about two minutes. But was is it as fun as penguins to watch? Heck Yeah!

I don't notice any hard to understand accents. They do speak Danish (I think) quite a bit, but there are subtitles for that.

Mostly the Japanese guy was hard for me

Peaky Blinders always gave me problems and I had to turn on subtitles.

Scots accents always give me problems. None in this show.

Yeah decent, must watch if you are into space stuff. Miles below expanse so don't get your hopes too high.

I used to game with a lot of 2+2ers back in the day and one was from Scotland. No joke I couldn't understand half of what he said. Me and him would just laugh hysterically over the fact that we both spoke the same language but couldn't understand a thing from one another.

With Peaky Blinders subtitles are a must have imo.

2 episode premiere tonight of "Snowfall" season 4 on FX. Last season was good down the stretch but finale was a bit of a letdown. Hopefully they come back strong.

Watched E1 of Into The Night. Seems fine. Only 6 episodes so I'll probably just rip through it.

Can I just skip ahead on The Expanse to S2? S1 is borderline unwatchable IMO. Have tried a few times.

I think that is the consensus on The Expanse. I have tried a few times on season 1 and stopped. So eventually I will maybe watch season 1 finale and start on season 2.

i love the expanse books soooooooo much! i tried several times to watch the show, and couldn't stand it lol...

maybe like 4th try, it stuck, and i love the show. i'd say keep trying with the first season, but if you just can't handle it, then skip to the second.

a big part of it for me was enjoying the awesome scenes of space, especially the space battles.

and going from hating bobby draper, to loving bobby draper.
