I only mentioned it because he has chimed in with geopolitical advice in the couple of episodes I've watched.

Not heard of that, I just heard a radio interview with him a while ago.

It's nice to see Chocolate Bear is still around though!

Have you got to season 2 yet? I watch the whole show at least once a year, it's GOAT.

Through 3 episodes - agreed.

Although they've used the cheesy "distraction just in the nick of time" too often already

Spoiler:

His call to Mr Success just before he stamps REVOKED
The call from Vince to his NYPD guy just before he shows Taylor the picture of Marius/Pete

Is The Good Place worth checking out? Been meaning to, but can't bring myself to do it. I do think I'd probably like it a lot though.

Its alright. The finale was interesting. The first 3 or 4 episodes are pretty bad though so Id commit to 6 before starting.

I'm recommending Nobel on Netflix. It's a Norwegian show so its subtitled, so you do have to really commit your full attention to it, but totally worth it. Not too many shows really grab me that much, i'm often doing something else while watching shows.

It's got a Zero Dark Thirty feel to it. Norwegian special forces in Afghanistan running ops. Then they are later back in Norway facing some consequences of what they did, with regular extended flashbacks to other portions of their mission.

5 episodes in so can't speak to the ending, but it's a solid show and you should give it a chance.

Watched pilot of Sneaky Pete 1.5 years ago. Just watched it again (forgot most) and 2 Ep. Show is good.

RW, there's a new 6 Ep show called Six that is about special forces too.

Liked Nobel a lot. Thanks for the recs earlier itt

Are there any other scandi productions of this quality over the last 5-10 years I may have missed or is this in a league of its own?

Togetherness was ok, I wouldn't say it was great. Very emo I'd say. A lot of it seemed made up on the spot, and not in a good way.

think it's the best network comedy in years, for what that's worth

imo the pilot was a little rough, grew each ep for a couple from there for me

by the middle/end, very solid indeed, looking promising for next season

like even a dumb, fun, popular show like i assume True Blood was

every time i see a trailer for one of their upcoming shows i'm like PASS

and they seem unable to find emerging stars to develop shows with, unlike the competition

maybe i'm being too hard on them, idk

I like Duplass generally but sort of hated Togetherness. Parts of it were good but other parts were really really bad.

HBO shows premiering in 2017

YOUNG POPE, hahaha it's terrible but I'm ALL IN

Big Little Lies

Quote:
Based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling book of the same name, the forthcoming miniseries follows three mothers of kindergartners whose seemingly perfect lives take a dark turn and unravel to the point of murder.
HARD PASS

The Duece

David Simon drama about the 70s porn industry starring James Franco? Uh, OK, I'll give it a shot.

Barry

Bill Hader as a down and out hit man? OK. I'll give it a shot

Room 104

Quote:
Following the end of the comedy drama Togetherness, brothers Jay and Mark Duplass will return to HBO with this new anthology comedy. Set in a single room of an average American hotel, Room 104 tells the different stories of the various characters who pass through the room.
HARD PASS. Wait, do I actually like Duplass???

Crashing

Judd Apatow and Pete Holmes comedy? Sure I'll give it a shot.
