Young Pope getting burned on twitter is hilarious

The Young Pope sounds like the name of a fake show on 30 Rock.
Indeed

everyone needs to stop making fun of the young pope he is very young to be a pope and he needs our support

Honestly HBO's best move right now is to cancel The Young Pope and just air an hour of Young Pope jokes every week.

I'll skip this and just assume that the missing evidence doesn't actually show that he's innocent because if it did, they wouldn't need that question mark, they'd state, 'oj is innocent, here's the evidence that proves it'.

The trailer for Young Pope has a line like "There's a new pope in town..." or something, and I every time I see it I think that it should keep going with

"...mother****ers"

*Young Pope racks shotgun*

*Young Pope stalks corridors of Vatican looking to bring justice to corrupt pedophile cardinals*

NEW YOUNG POPE IN TOWN

Basically channeling Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season

Like there are so many better possible Young Pope TV series about hypothetical Young Popes than this one.
  • Vampire Hunter Young Pope
  • Vampire Young Pope
  • Vigilante Young Pope
  • Pedophile Young Pope
  • Pedophile Hunter Young Pope
  • Millennial Young Pope
  • Young Pope who ****s Hot Young Nuns
  • Young Pope who ****s Hot Young Cardinals
  • Private Investigator Young Pope
  • Young Pope/Young Muslim Priest Buddy Cop Movie

SO MANY OPTIONS FOR YOUNG POPE SHOW

Instead we get a Young Pope who is mean to people who made him a sweet breakfast and has dumb annoying dreams we have to watch.

To be fair, I turned it off after 22 minutes, maybe some of this happened? Let me know if some of this stuff developed, maybe I'll finish the episode...

I watched the 1st 10 min or so of horace and pete on Hulu.
It was painful to watch and can't imagine where all the great reviews come from unless it made a big turn around the rest of the series.

I have recently just marathoned the entire show. I only intended it to be the first two seasons, but ended up doing the whole 4 seasons.

I think some people forget just how elite Season 1 was. Its up there in the GOAT individual seasons for me.

1>>>>>2>first half of season 4>>>3>second half of season 4

If season 4 was cut in half and the whole mother story line wasn't there, it wasn't actually too bad.

I have no doubt I will be watching the new season. I'm expecting to be disappointed.

It was painful to watch the 1st 10 min. and I even jumped 5-10 minutes ahead several times and still snoozers. I would like to here from someone who enjoyed the show, besides Yeti, who apparently likes it.

heh, are you skeptical that people who enjoy this show other than me exist? there's threads in the lounge and in OOTV where you can find those people. it was also sepinwall's #1 show of the year. fwiw, episode 3 is riveting and can be watched in a vacuum, but i don't really think you should bother.

to be clear, i would not dream of recommending this show to the vast majority of people i know in real life. however i was kinda assuming that everyone internet-savvy who sits down to watch it is aware that it's essentially a slow, 8+ hour stage play that has gotten very good to excellent reviews. if you're ok with all that then i just find it baffing to turn it off after 10 minutes. that's like reading 10 pages of a famous novel and then declaring it to be a piece of ****.

if you sat down to smoke a bowl and threw this on thinking it was entourage but set in a bar, then yeah, that makes a lot more sense.

I really didn't know much about it other than CK was trying to sell it to start. I looked at some reviews and they mainly said it was not a comedy but more of a drama.
I like a wide variety of things and usually watch at least the 1st episode of something even if it seems slow to start.

Probably just not my thing, no biggie.

at what point do we start to worry about HBO? they've had some fairly big whiffs in recent years with Luck, The Brink, Vinyl, Bill Simmons, True Detective S2, The Young Pope, etc

The Leftovers is good, but no one watches it, and it's supposedly ending
as is Girls fwiw
only 14 eps of Game of Thrones left
not sure how much longer Veep will run

is Vice Principals any good?
Divorce seems mediocre based on the fact i've never seen it praised anywhere
Ballers is meh, but might be good enough for what it is
High Maintenence & Insecure might be alright ... is anyone watching?

so they seem to have a hit in Westworld, then there's John Oliver, Silicon Valley, and ... Curb is returning!

problem?

start worrying about 2+ years ago! a lot has been written on this.

it's still not great but they're in a better spot than they were a year ago. their main problem is in dramas, but westworld was an enormous hit (though it sucks it won't be back this year), and they are looking into a GoT spin off. they also have some david simon / pizzolatto (!) shows coming up which could be good.

Vice Principals is quite good. Divorce is good, although a little too cringe-based for my taste.

I literally don't watch a single hour long show on HBO as of right now. Westworld is a hit? Watched a couple of three episodes, I just didn't see where it was going or care about literally anyone. At least it wasn't as gloomy and depressing as The Leftovers.

They're certainly not the top network for TV anymore. Not sure if they're top five to be honest.

westworld s1 got more viewers than true detective s1, GoT s1, and 2x that of the walking dead s1. probably has a smaller ceiling than those last two though.

hbo are maybe developing a watchmen show it seems, which could probably be a huge middle of the road hit.

ya probably smart to look into anything GoT related
can't say i'm super excited about Simon's show, but hopefully will be pleasently surprised
is there anything specific to what they're doing with NP?

probably hyperbolic, but it seems like their development has been far behind the competition lately

"The Magicians" is on Netflix - pass on this. couldn't figure out what else to watch so binged this while i weighed other options...bleh that was dumb.

It's sort of a hybrid Harry Potter / Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, but with grad students instead of middle schoolers. (and casting spells looks sort of like the dance moves from the OA. I wonder if they had the same choreographer?)

It didn't have to be horrible, but it was.

I wouldn't count "Luck" as a miss for HBO. It looked like it was going to be a good show until ****ing PETA stuck their idiot noses in.
