The English is like Guy Ritchie directing 1883 or something. Keeps getting better.

Taboo is awesome, so tilted that we never got a season 2. Every few months I Google it and always see **** like yeah a season 2 is coming eventually but it's been like 6 years since S1.

White Lotus is one of my favorite shows of the past couple years, really enjoying season 2.

Recently stumbled on an amazing show soon to leave Netflix on 12/14. It is a dark, twisted, funny and ultimately profound series called "Flowers". It stars Olivia Colman and Julian Barratt, and co-stars Will Sharpe, who also created and wrote the series. Two season, six episodes each. from 2016. It's not for everyone. But if you liked Julia Davis' insane twisted "Sally4Ever", then this is for you. Coincidentally, Davis and Barratt are partners IRL.

Have they officially said they'll never do more Taboo?

There's a character in the English that very much reminds me of Taboo.

Pacing has been a problem for me, particularly towards the end.

Acting is often mediocre. It's not terrible, but that isn't saying much.

The twist towards the end is some combination of stupid and clever, but it's not worth finishing a season on.

There's also the problem of, at times, trying to make it a Westworld style mystery. It's not about that, it's about exploring the ideas that come from having a stub.

Better than most sci-fi, worse than the books, worth sticking with for next season.

Meanwhile, talking of sci fi with bad acting - I'm watching Babylon 5, which I haven't seen since it first came out I think. IMDB 8.4, though really, you should skip the whole first season and read a synopsis. And skip half the second season via IMDB ratings. And remember that it came out in 1993. Hmm.

I agree about the stubs, which is why I like it. I don't mind the pacing. I do agree the acting is mediocre. And while I liked the S1 finale as an episode, I also agree that I don't like the season finishing on that note.

Maybe "excellent" wasn't the right word, but I'm enjoying it.

With the “previously on” and the credits, it’s damn near sitcom length. Very weird

No they're always throwing the idea put but it hasn't lead to anything. Last I saw was production/shooting was to begin in like 2024.

got really really drunk and rewatched first 5 episodes of The Queens Gambit. I challenge anyone to find a better mini series. It is straight up elite, if you drink and enjoy chess it is the best 7 episode show you have ever seen. Prove me wrong!

QFT - despite the fact that Band of Brothers is 10 episodes, not 7.

Been reaching into some other shows while we wait for a few to have all their episodes out:

-The chippendales thing, meh. Too much good stuff out for this. We quit.
-It's a sin: meh. Watching endless gay sex does actually get boring, we quit.
-The Rehearsal: first episode was so wtf that I have to keep going. Nathan Fielder has a 1 in a million mind.

White Lotus finale was pretty terrible I thought. So many plot holes and stuff just left unexplained that made no sense. Laughable violent climax straight out of Tarantino.

S1 was elite but I was not a big fan of this season.

I was a bit let down by the final episode of s2 White Lotus, seemed like a lot of the story arcs had subpar final chapters. I thought it was still a great season overall.

Spoiler:
-The flossing scene with Cam kind of confirms that he knows Daphne's kid(s) aren't his.
-Ethan likely had sex with Daphne but Cam didn't get all the way with Harper so in the end he got his mojo back and was able to actually bang Harper again.
-Glad Tonya died, outside of her occasional quip she's the worst character
-The whole car chase + Dom paying the $50k was pretty dumb

There are varying opinions of the finale. I have been looking at twitter hashtags about it since last night and it's pretty consistent with IMDB results so far.

On IMDB just for the finale 1238 votes, 88% rated 8, 9 or 10, and 3.7% rated 1, 2 or 3.

59.1% rated 10/10.

I think it was great.
