There is no depth to the show. There are some good scenes (drogons return should be sick) but on a scene by scene basis the show is so much worse and especially cheesier than anything from s1 or 2.
Agreed. But clearly most disagree as I'm getting killed in the SE thread for not drooling over the rushed partnership of Tyrion/Dany.

The show doesn't have enough time to have Tyrion work to gain her trust over several episodes but it still felt way too rushed for my taste. Not a huge deal but I find it crazy to put that scene on par with any Tywin scene. Dude was the GOAT.

i just realized why I found Dany so annoying so often

she doesnt ****ing blink.

If she's been told to do that, its more probable she's gonna go crazy . Ok im stretching it

Theory: Show changed direction on John Snow's storyline because warging hasn't been introduced, making his continuation in the story all but impossible if killed.

Think most of the love for the Dany/Tyrion scene is just relief they didn't draw it out as much as in the books. I don't think the scene itself was very impressive. The dialogue was alright but felt very rushed and forced. With the slow pace of the show you'd think they could add a scene or two to make the transition for Tyrion into adviser a bit more believable.

Overall a really good episode though. That was the main thing I disliked about it.

John hasn't warged though.

Next episode: Ramsey kills Stannis. Red woman and onion knight escape back to the wall.
Final episode: Kid sticks John, red woman saves him due to lots of king's blood.

Fair point, but that's been blunt object Warging...haven't been able to get into it with nearly the depth of the books.

Probably right though. Theory more or less shot down.

I could live with that outcome.
Mel needs to burn ramsay though to make it perfect

That was easily the best non ep 9 episode yet.

Btw John is gonna be killed on his return to Castle Black on a plot created by the moles town steward kid. His story hasn't changed that much from the books.

I thought the dialogue was great, as was seeing Tyrion back in a position of power. He's arguably the most capable leader/politician in the series so it's satisfying to see him in this role.

I do agree that Dany accepting him felt rushed but so has a bunch of stuff she's done (marrying Hizdar?)

I still think Jon Snow simply...lives. the idea of him living through Ghost doesn't make for a good story, and he's too important to the story to simply go away.

maybe Melisandre saves him or he...just lives

The entire scene with Sam and the steward was unsubtle foreshadowing of John being killed.

Edit, for readers anyway who knew that was potentially coming.

Mel reviving him seems the most likely. It was how I though he won survive in the books anyway rather than the warg unwarg stuff, that was the point of Dondarrion imo, to introduce the concept.

Nobody in the moderated thread seems to have picked up on Jon's imminent stabbing/death.

So, I think the show did a good job with the dual meaning of Sam's dialogue and how the steward interpreted it.

Agreed, even in just the books I never bought that him dying then warging into Ghost was going to happen. In the show it seems even less likely. Regarding theory about Stannis getting killed by that **** Ramsey, god that would suck, but it does make sense as far as Mel & Davos going back to castle black tho, ugh.

Ramsay sneaking in with 20 soldiers and killing stannis would be the worst.

100%.

There's no reason to buy Ramsey as a badass stealth soldier. He's great at what he does, torture. Seems like a totally different skill set.

If he brings a couple of dogs with him Stannis better watch out.

I'm still going with Jon warging into Ghost and then in the ensuing chaos of his death they don't get a chance to burn his body and he wargs back into wightJon. My reasoning is because they've set up the whole warging into your animal when you die thing as well as Coldhands. There's evidence that CH is/was a warg and on top of that he is described as looking like a wight. So he could be the pioneer of death -> animal -> wight transformation.

I'd say it was unsubtle foreshadowing that he's going to be attacked

though Sam's line of "Jon always come back" seems to point to Mel reviving him

Jon is stabbed Caesar style just like in the books. Starts with Thorne then a few others then ends with Ollie. "For the Watch." Jon dying is how we end the season at the wall. Lady Stoneheart reveal hanging the Freys is how the season ends. Lady Stoneheart is the one who gives the kiss of life to Jon. Mel cannot resurrect people. She will do it episode fourish next season and in the next book. That is her purpose in the books.

With Kevan conveniently teleporting back to KL last night and Varys with unknown whereabouts what are the chances we get that scene? Will be interesting to see if the show can set Kevan up as actually restoring some order in the remaining 2 episodes and give Varys a motive to kill him or if it'll simply be Varys kills ~unknown Kevan dude and delivers sick speech about Dany(not Aegon) coming home.
