Breaking Bad: season 5 Breaking Bad: season 5

06-25-2012 , 06:44 PM
Walter, trying to get Jesse to believe the "hijack" when Jesse was with Mike was a set-up:

"It's all about me."

That's Walter White, in a nutshell. the fact that he's right doesn't mean he's not also a complete narcissist.

The Facebook Breaking Bad page posted 5 pics from season 5. Awesome, but:

SOME MAD SPOILERAGE CONTAINED. Nothing huge, but a couple of things I'd rather not have seen yet.

So don't click unless you can't help yourself.

The pictures pretty much confirm that that leaked script was fake, right?

Spoiler:
So Walt and Jesse meet up to discuss future plans and Jesse invites Mike and Mike arrives not sure wether he can trust Walt?
Hank finds Gus his laptop in Los Pollos, should be interesting.

So pretty much confirmed that they are going to cook in an RV again? That also confirms that Mike will just work for them and will not be able to use Gus his contacts to distribute meth I guess? Since obv cooking in an RV is going to be relatively small scale.

Does it show that Gale and Ted are still alive?

I'd say so. I never believed it was real to begin with.

Spoiler:
Sounds pretty accurate. Not sure about the RV though. It was Hank standing in his uniform that I didn't want to see the most. Mike with a gun was OK.

Ted and Gale are totally dead, but Hector.....

It's like Walt's reasoning seeps over into the viewer's reasoning. It's fascinating to me.
I'm sure Gus and others wouldn't like the fact Walt goes to the feds and that could obviously mean bad things for himself, his family, and Jesse.

You don't think the Feds could protect Walt and his family and Jesse (assuming Jesse turned himself in)? Feds are gonna want to go after Gus in this too.

This is my own private domicile and I will not be harassed.

Spoiler:
Hmmmm. Interesting. Walt does one last redeeming act by protecting his family and swapping himself for Jesse's safety? Yeah, probably not.

Walt is cold hearted mother ****er that is hell bent on revenge.

He doesn't care about anything else but getting back at the two people who stole his idea. They made millions off it while he watched.

Them they offered him charity

Has it been guessed that Gomie was the leak in the DEA yet?

Between him and the older guy with the western-style mustache.

It's pretty basic human psychology. Denial is easier than facing your actions and the cognitive dissonance associated with it. Its a similar situation to when your children lie to you bald faced rather than admit they were doing something wrong when they broke something.

I'm not sure I would have acted any different in Walts situation, particularly after my actions for the last three seasons.

But they are all bad choices. Killed - very bad. Go to prison and deal with what i've done - bad. Kill someone innocent (innocent... really?) - Bad but I survive free.

oh my god if season 5 has walt using some muscle to destroy gretchen and elliott that would be incredible
06-26-2012 , 02:56 AM
I'd dig that quite a bit.

There's a huge chunk of their history that they've never addressed. I don't want it to take too much screentime, but I would like to know what happened there.
06-26-2012 , 03:26 AM
yeah, it's been neat to have it clouded in some ambiguity, as it makes the idea of how justified walt is in his feelings toward them equally ambiguous, but it would also be nice to get a real answer on that before the show ends.

What did happen to the Walt/Gretchen/Elliot triangle, they never addressed it right? Gretchen and Elliot have never come off as people who stole Walts idea and froze him out. It seems like Walt bailed before it took off.

They did address it. There is a post earlier in this thread of the exact scene.
And in S1 (First or second eposide.) they offered to pay his bills and Walt was Pissed.

But I would love some back story answering why he bailed or was forced out?

My theory is that Gretchen chose Elliot over him.

On a another note am I the only one that was rooting against Walt for the first half of S4 and hoping Gus was gonna take the lead in the show.

This kind of makes me think think the "revenge theory" is very plausible.

These highly educated Phd types need the credit and presitge more then anything else.

Walt needs to prove he is the better scientist. Reminds me of the movie "The Prestige".

We can only guess but I think it was something like this scenario probably:

Gretchen is dating Walt. Elliot and Walt start a company together and Gretchen comes work with them.
They are working on some ideas with high potential and great contributions are done by Walt.
Gretchen falls in love with Elliot and dumps walt and starts dating Elliot.
Walt wants out of the company, company isn't huge yet though.
They buy him out.
Company becomes huge.

Walt feels like he had no choice but to leave since he felt betrayed by both Elliot and Gretchen, Elliot and Gretchen are like "you could have stayed don't be ridiculous".

Fits the way it went down well.

new 30s trailer on the BB facebook page
06-26-2012 , 01:39 PM
No new video, couple of new audio though

Spoiler:
Mike makes the smart decision but will be convinced to work for Walt anyway somehow. I wonder how that's going down.

Video good. I like video. Gonna watch a few more times. Looking forward to reading about it after its picked apart.

Gretchen says that Walt left her and she never knew why. But it had something to do with Skylar. Thats as much as was said, right?

tick, ticking away.

They cover it and it looks like Walt left Gretchen, not the other way around.

Walt is a terribly unreliable narrator, so if there are two sides, choosing the non-Walt side is almost always likely to be correct, especially when Walt has an incentive to make himself look good. As friendly as Elliot was toward Walt at the party, it seems like he does not have hard feelings.
