And we see this is very true, now that Walt has let her in somewhat she is becoming helpful to Walt.
Since when is it realistic for a woman to act reasonable? Especially when her husband is doing something very sneaky behind her back and she knows about it for sure (second cell phone)?

I thought the kleptomania scenes were fine. They were just a way to explore the relationships between Marie, Skyler, and Hank and provide a little comic relief.
Man, why do you love her so much? I can definitely understand disagreeing with how extreme my position is, but defending those shoplifting scenes is pretty lol. Are you related to her or something?

Comic relief is jesse falling in the portapotty, not that crap.

i'm almost certain they haven't finished filming season 4, and i think most likely they haven't even started yet (for one thing cranston's got hair so i don't think they're in the middle of it)

So wait, your criticism of Skyler is that she's NOT BITCHY ENOUGH?

On August 12th Bob Odenkirk was on a podcast I listen to, Comedy Death Ray Radio, and I'm pretty sure he said they were still writing the new season.

I thought it was funny, especially Hank taking to Skyler about it "Yeah, I know, we're working on it..." It was just a way of getting the characters that weren't Walt and Jesse interacting and creating a little bit of conflict, but nothing lasting that will compete with Walt's problems.

Why do I like her? She's an excellent character on a great show.

My criticism is that she isn't realistic. I don't hate the character for any other reason than that. The writers are brilliant, but they needed that character to be unrealistic for the story to progress.

I don't hate her because she's bitchy. Tony Soprano's mother was the most horrid character of all-time but she was fantastic because it was realistic.

I don't really blame the writers for taking the easy way out with Skyler since the show is otherwise perfect, but its a flaw nonetheless. It didn't help that they casted the part to someone who should be nothing more than an extra buying milk at a supermarket.

She isn't realistic simply because she waited until Walt had recovered from surgery to leave him? She decided to leave long before that.

She isn't realistic because of her lack of preemptive action to save her family. She made it easy for Walt to get as deep into it as possible, which is great for the show, but would never happen.

What is Skyler supposed to do after she confronts Walt, demands the truth and is blown off? What would a realistic Skyler do?
08-30-2010 , 08:24 PM
Realistic??.. there isn't much of anything realistic in this show. First of all, a [regular] white guy would have a hard time getting as high up as Walt has in the meth business. Let alone with a junkie. And you want to talk about realistic? Gus' operation.. highly unlikely as well. Hank, he's about as realistic as CSI. You want a realistic action/drama.. watch Cops.

This show is tha sht! Realistic or not.

do they really write it before they produce it? From the interviews with Vince Gilligan linked itt, it sounded like they often didn't decide what direction the show would take till after they had filmed previous episodes. E.g. they saw how the twins handled the first two episodes before deciding what they would do with their characters for the rest of the season.

i think theyre taking more time to plan out the season this time so alot more preparation before actually filming

Can someone who's familiar with Bryan Cranston's work tell me if he's ever played any characters (in movies or TV) that are remotely similar to his role on BB? I only know him from Malcom in the Middle, Saving Private Ryan and a couple episodes of Seinfeld.

If you don't see the parallels between Tim Watley and Walter White, I don't really know what to say...

He played like a dark racist alien or criminal or something on an episode of X-Files.

Who was he in SPR?

I forgot which comedian said this but whenever you watch an old show with Cranston in it, you should imagine that he's moonlighting as a meth producer.

He was on a few episodes early on in the King of Queens. He and his wife were Doug and Carrie's next door neighbors. In one episode, he got Doug involved in a pyramid scheme selling water filters. That's sort of like being a meth dealer, right?

Most women on TV are caricatures or ostensibly men. Skyler is an exception and Anna Gunn plays her very well. Walt is not the hero of his show. It is fun to root for a bad-ass meth dealer, but from what we have seen of him in the show he is really quite an awful person, unless you ascribe to a very specific libertarian, "rational", egotistic view of morality that permeates this forum.
