Yep. It may be my favorite single season of any TV show ever, edging out Homicide season 2, The Shield season 7, and Friday Night Lights season 1.

Breaking Bad

Whoa whoa whoa. We all love Breaking Bad but to suggestion it is even close to peak episodes of The Wire is heresy.

I'm going to have to say that it's pretty hard for me to be on the edge of my seat like I was all of The Shield's last season.

Pretty sure the Skylar/Ted stuff was S3?

They get together in season 3, but I didn't mind the stuff they did there. I actually liked some of it, but I feel they def did the right thing by ending it when they did.

What bothered me was the season 2 stuff, like where she's pregnant and doing the Monroe happy birthday thing in front of all the co-workers. (I might be wrong, but I remember that being s2)

On the topic of The Wire v BB, like I said I thought s3 was a high watermark for suspense on TV, up there with VMars for instance, better than Dexter, Lost, 24, ... .

The thing I like most about this show is that, even from the get-go, it manages to raise the stakes to previously unforeseen levels... only to top that the next week.

Cool. AMC started airing season 3 following the Walking Dead a few weeks back but for some bizarre reason they started with episode 6.

So Breaking Bad does not get a Golden Globe nomination for Best Drama yet The Walking Dead does. I know everyone is already aware of this but the Hollywood Foreign Press is ridiculous - some super bizarre nominations for the film categories as well (The Tourist, Burlesque). At least they nominated Cranston for best actor. Nothing for Paul but I don't think the Globes run supporting actor categories for television.

--------------------------------------------------------

In the TV drama series category, nominations went to "Boardwalk Empire," "Dexter," "The Good Wife," "Mad Men" and "The Walking Dead."

Nominees for actor in a TV drama are Steve Buscemi for "Boardwalk Empire," Bryan Cranston for "Breaking Bad," Michael C. Hall for "Dexter," Jon Hamm for "Mad Men" and Hugh Laurie for "House."

Scott Caan was nominated over Paul.

lol, i really think that in a lot of cases the people who vote on these TV/movie/music awards don't even watch/listen to what they're voting on. actually hasn't that basically been proven by the Hollywood foreign press (which is basically just a few weird, old Eurodonks who want to mingle with some stars for a day, so people suck up to them to get votes) and AMPAS. i would bet than all the awards are about equally as bad, or worse (e.g. Emmys, Grammys, etc). bleh, whatever...

Awards shows don't know ****. The sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be.

They're just a bunch of toolboxes throwing each other a wrench. Here, you fix my pipes while I grease your wheel.

I agree Breaking Bad got snubbed but I think Boardwalk will prolly bring home all the gold.

I'm btw confused, Dexter gets Golden Globe nominated for Season 5? and The Walking Dead for Season 1?

Dexter for Season 5 is just lolbad, what tilts me even more that on FB the gazillion comments on every update seem to be all positive...

TWD S1 wasn't bad television but most of it wasn't very good either... Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men and Breaking Bad deserve to be there.

Just finished watching season 2 was so good. I honestly didn't see much as a huge difference between the seasons in quality but that is not a knock as I thought season 1 was awesome. Writing and acting is so good. To the point where plausibly ridiculous scenes seem so natural. There really isn't a single weak actor on the whole show. You get so attatched to the characters that you actually feel sad when one is knocked off the show.

Great to see them utilize the wife and child so well. Or not to overly exploit hank on the show and make him so one dimensional (which many writers would have done).

Only thing I can slightly critique was end of second season which was pretty gimmicky.

Looking forward to third when out on dvd.

DAMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NNNNNNNNNNNNNN

I just got into this show like a week ago and marathonned through the entire 3 seasons. HOLY **** that was a bad idea, now i have to wait until july for season 4? DAMN.
This show is among the top shows i've seen in the past few years, it's really that good. Loved the development of all the characters etc.

Jesse pinkman compilation of S1-3

here's a small prediction i made going on the assumption that season 4 is the last season.
Spoiler:
Breaking Bad series finale prediction:

Walt eventually confesses to Jesse what he has done, namely killed Jane.
This enrages Jesse so much that he kills walt because after the killing of Gale he has turned more and more hollow inside and realises that this is all due to walt who killed his GF etc.
Jesse ends up in jail by the DEA (possibly Hank if he still lives) and he tells them all about the operation they have. Series ends with either Jesse killing himself or crying himself to sleep in his cell.
gus is dead obv after cartel related struggles.

Glad you love the show, and I agree it's one of the best things on the air and maybe of all time.

But what show were you really watching to make this prediction? Since when would the show just randomly turn into Oz?

^^ it's pretty much a complete guess with a dash of lets go for a left field shot.

your predictions then?

EDIT: how do the spoilers dissapear in your quote?

I don't even know how to predict the events of the coming season. Walt is already in a much darker place than I ever thought he'd go, and now I can't see a way out for him-- or even a way to survive that doesn't involve much more bloodshed.
01-14-2011 , 02:04 PM
man i really enjoyed the Jesse video
01-14-2011 , 05:45 PM
to me it seems like the progression of Walts character is gonna end up with him killing Jesse, not the other way around. Then Walt gets his comeuppance at the hands of the cartel or DEA(possibly Hank).
01-14-2011 , 05:52 PM
I've been up in the air on how I think it's going to end. So far, not 1 of them has been dissapointing in the least.
01-14-2011 , 07:39 PM
I too love breaking bad ldo.
Spoiler:
Jane was such an awesome (and cute yet hot) character, I really really hate they let her die
But in some way I like the way the series is progressing and nearly nothing that's happening is positive or pointing at a "Happy Ending". So I guess such a beautiful character dieing has to happen to show the cruelness of the downward spiral every one is in.
