Also, how are we all glossing over the fact that Walt did meth? He was acting extremely strange, bugging out over the fly and Jesse even asked him "did you sample our product?"

Then, he crashes at the end.

because walt didn't do meth? he can't sleep because he's stressed about the consequences if anything goes slightly wrong. hence his fixation on the fly and the half a pound of meth missing.

Crashes as in falls asleep? Because Jesse put about 6 sleeping pills in his coffee?

No, it is a very fair generalization.

This thread has become over run with people complaining every time the show spends more time developing it's characters than it does having them kill someone or blow something up.

Just look at every idiot who complains about Skyler being a whining bitch. Yes she has been very bitchy in the series up until the past few episodes, but that is because that is how any reasonable person would react when confronted with the situation she has found herself in. Up until the past few episodes, the entire purpose of her role has been to pull Walt back into the mundane everyday existence he led before he started cooking.

What people fail to realize is that without character developing scenes or episodes like we saw tonight, the "action" scenes would not be nearly as compelling as they are.

If you want to watch non-stop action scenes with no character development, thee are plenty of old Arnold Schwartzenager movies available on DVD.

I thought this was the worst episode of the season, maybe series (but hard to judge).

I think pretty much everyone who didnt particularly enjoyed this episode, doesnt fit your described profile.

There were a bunch of funny comments and the second half was good, but the first half was too slow and kinda meaningless.

You can make the same idiotic generalization in 5 paragraphs instead of one sentence but it's still the same idiotic generalization and you haven't backed it up at all. All you've done is restate it. This thread doesn't even get nearly the traffic to be "overrun" by any type of viewer anyway.

Not one single poster that has hated this episode wants this show to be a ****ing pure-action show.

Yeah Walt almost admitting to Jessie that he let his girlfriend die was hysterical!

Cool, something ALMOST happened in an episode! I know what episode is getting sent in for emmy consideration this year!!!
05-24-2010 , 06:43 AM
And the second half of this episode (when the talks about Jane occurred) was fine and even good, but the first half was inexcusably worthless.

I'm not saying it was the worst episode in the history of TV, but it was the worst episode of the series. Which one would you say is worse?

THANK YOU for roving my point!

The whole point of this episode was not have things happen to the characters, but to give the viewer insight into what are the motivations behind each of the character's current and future actions this season.

Ok i made an attempt, but I am done trying to have an intellectual conversation with someone who thinks that prscription pain killers are available to everyone at their local street corner like you told me in my dental clinic thread.

Untouchable this is not a personal attack on you but you have a consistent posting history of not recognizing that not everyone lives in the same conditions or surroundings that you do.

Lol, I don't have a ****ing clue who you are but I guess you really take my posts to heart. That's cool, you should try to learn something from them some day.

This could have been accomplished without making us sit though ten minutes of him trying to kill a fly.

You still haven't suggested an episode of Breaking Bad that was worse than this one btw.

I thought they built the tension up very well, in that I was waiting for Walt to tell Jesse about what actually happened on the night Jane died.

It was very Rian Johnson, in how they started out slowly, but then appeared to be gathering speed to an inevitable conclusion but completely veering away from it.

I enjoyed it, but not half as much as other episodes and can see why people would hate it, but I think it was a solid episode to layer into what I expect will be a hugely exciting final few episodes of the series.

Episode was a bit weak and confirms how far the whole series is from the quality that some people ascribe to it.

They took the two main characters, the characters that have been portrayed most in depth out of all the people in the show and the ones that we, in theory, should care about the most, and put them in a closed environment thus focusing on their relationship and possible future paths with the end result of the episode not being all that good. A bit telling of the show's overall quality, imho.

wat

This episode was basically impossible to compare with other episodes. That said I definitely enjoyed it less minute for minute, but the second half was really strong. The scene with Walt passing out with Jesse on the top of the ladder was awesome.
05-24-2010 , 09:53 AM
I tried writing a proper response to Kesky, but I failed and think 'wat' just about sums it up.

Boring/poor episode. Still the best thing on TV.
05-24-2010 , 10:52 AM
Yeah could have been the worst of the series... And yes, I do like the slow episodes normally but this episode felt wrong for me. Am i the only one who believes the whole second half of the episode was HIGHLY unlikely? No matter how much stress/emotional chaos/insomnia/sleeping pills Walt was on/under, there is no way he would have come close to telling Jesse about what he did to Jane. I just found the whole scenario to be pretty impossible knowing what we know about Walt.

i'm in the minority that liked this episode. and in the majority that thinks your poast sucks

I thought the photography and camera work brought a little too much attention to itself.

eta: kind of surprised to skim through all these reactions and not see the words, "self-indulgent."
05-24-2010 , 11:23 AM
plus one the episode being below expectations i mean I have literally never been so bored watching a breaking bad episode, i actually just left with 15 mins left and didnt feel bad at all about it. I was also introducing the show to a freiand and had to explain every other episode is way better, way more action etc.
05-24-2010 , 11:23 AM
Was a little confused on why the fly part was taking so long, but I thought the episode turned out really well after looking back on it as a whole

Also this guys blog has a good explanation of this epi

I liked that this episode was really different from all the other episodes and only focused on the two main characters. That said, I wouldn't like to see too many episodes like this.

what was walt's role in janes death?

Spoiler:
he was in the room when she was passed out. she started to vomit in her own mouth and he didn't roll her so that she wouldn't choke on it. he knew she might die when he decided to do this. and btw, i think its awesome that they referenced this as the "turning point" when walt broke really bad, cuz it was
05-24-2010 , 12:16 PM
I'm on board with not liking this episode too. There was nothing in this episode that furthered the plot, and the only really compelling parts were where walt bordered on telling jesse that he played a part in janes death or where jesse teeters on the edge of the ladder.
