Breaking Bad

I recently caught up on the series (DVRed Season 3 before watching show, Netflixed 1 & 2 then watched 3) and love it. What was interesting is that after my wife and I watched S1 & S2 on Netflix, we started watching Big Love on DVD simultaneously with S3 and it was quite entertaining watching Aaron Paul playing two very different roles, sometimes within an hour or so of each other.

Next season isn't till July 2011!

Does anyone know anything about AMC re-airing season 3? For the longest time their website stated they would run the season again beginning on July 25th. Of course this didn't happen and now there is no mention of future dates on the site.

I wouldn't count on it happening till MM and Rubicon finish their runs. After that AMC will need something to fill the Sunday night block and since reruns of BB are better than new episodes of just about anything, I think they will do it then.

The Walking Dead starts in October. They replayed the first 2 seasons of BB in March from 3-5am every night for 2 weeks leading up to the new season. It might be awhile before they air them again.

Emmys are at the end of the month. Cranston, Paul, and the show all have a very good chance of winning. Next year Breaking Bad misses the entire Emmy window.

Is Rubicon any good?

I've quit watching it - too slow and a bit hard to follow. It has a ton of potential though, and if it starts getting great reviews I'll catch up after S1.

But so much of that is stuff they both regret.. it's stuff that neither of them wanted to do.. they had to do it. Together or fall (or die in some instances).

This is where I think I'm having a problem with this whole "Jesse is family" thing:

They both get into deep sht and separate from doing business for a while.. leading to:

Walt had to bring Jesse back or he was going to snitch..
Walt gets Jesse back in..
Jesse wants revenge for his friend's murder..
Walt tells Pollos..
Walt did not get involved with Jesse vs Pollos because he knew it wouldn't be a smart move..
Walt didn't want anything to do with Jesse's "revenge" plan..
Then he protects Jesse because this will most likely fall on him too..
Jesse didn't want anything to do with Walt's "get rid of Gail" plan..
Walt needs Jesse to kill Gail because he got caught..
Jesse needs to get involved to save Walt (or it could be his ass next)..
Jesse kills Gail..

Like I said though, this is just the vibe I get. I realize that when I re-watch the show from the beginning, this "impression" I have might change. A lot of times when you re-watch certain shows, you'll see things differently or just catch on to certain things you might've missed.

And btw, whether I interpret their relationship differently, or even incorrectly, it will not change the fact that I thoroughly enjoy this show.. like most of the people itt do. Nothing will change that.
I agree with like half of this poast. To say that Walt does every thing for his family is completely false. As soon as Skyler divorces him and he keeps cooking that IMO is when Walt stops looking out for his family as his #1 interest due to the fact that it has just been torn apart.

I do however agree that Walt views Jesse as family. If he didn't he wouldn't stick his neck out for him like he has countless times.

Walt had to bring Jesse back or he was going to snitch..
Walt gets Jesse back in.. it'd be easier and more efficient to "get rid of him" like Saul suggested.
Jesse wants revenge for his friend's murder..
Walt tells Pollos...this is a good way to stop him from trying to murder someone who's very well connected, without you know, killing him
Walt did not get involved with Jesse vs Pollos because he knew it wouldn't be a smart move.. except he killed the two gangsters
Walt didn't want anything to do with Jesse's "revenge" plan.. see above
Then he protects Jesse because this will most likely fall on him too..pollo is a rational man that knows jesse is a loose cannon. he would not blame walt for any of it. especially after walt snitched on jesse in the first place
Jesse didn't want anything to do with Walt's "get rid of Gail" plan..
Walt needs Jesse to kill Gail because he got caught..
Jesse needs to get involved to save Walt (or it could be his ass next)..
Jesse kills Gail..more like jesse felt indebted to walt because walt saved his life. jesse knows pollo doesn't know he's is in town. jesse killing gail is a completely selfless act that puts him in major risk in order to save walt.

i seriously think you have at least a mild form of assburgers.

Love the show. Now the rant starts:

1. I HATE JESSE
Walt should've killed Jesse after he and Jane started blackmailing him, or at least after he threatened he would rat on Walt if he would be arrested. Failing to do so annoyed the **** out of me. Making partners with him was a ludicrously bad decision, and when Jesse ****s up again he STILL doesn't see the right solution. Kill the problem, kill Jesse, not the lab assistent. Wtf dude.

2. I HATE CLIFFHANGERS
Several posters have mentioned the season 3 finale would have been a cheesy cliffhanger if it turned out Jesse didn't kill Gail. What? It is a terrible cliffhanger. They just pause the action for 7 months in the middle of action. I think that is disrespecting your audience.

3. I HATED THE FLY
Wtf was that about? They miscounted so had to squeeze in an extra episode? I fell asleep.

Love the show. Now here's what I love about it:

1. I LOVE WALT
Walt's acting is absolutely awsome. I did not know he was the father in MITM untill I read it in this here thread. Mad range as mentioned. I also love the character and have been rooting for him from the start to become an Anthony Soprano.

2. I LOVE SKYLER
Reminds me of Carmella in The Sopranos, even though she cannot quite top that performance (obviously). In any case, she is a very believable character. I prompted her: "I could be the Danny." Awsome. Can't wait to see how that develops. I would love to see them get back together.

3. I LOVE THE MAD ACTION
When you least expect it.

Just watched the Pilot on OVGuide last night. I'm hooked now I want to find a good deal for the DVD box sets.

Any info would be appreciated.

I had to google that episode because I thought I missed out something profound. I cringed when Walt smacked Jesse with the gigantic flyswatter when he had his red gas mask on. Turns out it was just as awful as I thought.

Just caught up with the whole series in like a month. AWESOME SHOW!

f the haters, i like the fly episode. thought it was a well-timed bit of introspection.. the calm before the storm you could say... good use of tension when recalling the jane incident, and delved deeper into walt and jesse's relationship and further established how much walt has grown to care for him, putting walt's motivations better into context

They really should have two Breaking Bad threads one for people who hate Fly that will be full of character rankings and discussion about how Skyler is a ****. The other will be good.

So I bought Season 1 today and now my wife wants to start watching also so I have to wait till this weekend when she's not working.

At least it gives me something to look forward to.

+1

People who didn't like the fly episode are idiots. I'm sure there are A-team reruns with plenty of stuff blowing up in them that they would enjoy more than BB.

I can understand it not being a favorite episode, but if you hated it or are dumb enough to call it the worst episode of a TV series ever then you really don't understand the point of the series. The entire point of this series is Walt's transition from mild mannered school teacher to ruthless cold-blooded drug lord. Do you realize that without the transition in feelings towards Jesse that Walt goes through in Fly, the last few episodes that all the idiots who watch the show to see stuff blow up don't happen?

It is during fly that Walt realizes Jesse is more to Walt than just some dumb former student who happens to have the necessary connections to sell the meth he cooks, which leads to Walt's actions in half and full measures.
